Captains Cove — Restaurant in South Padre Island

New Fav restaurant at SPI! We've been coming to the island for 30 years and it's rare for a new place to stand out from the crowd - but wow, just wow - we loved Captain's Cove! We are not oyster fans, so don't let the name deter you if you don't like oysters either! Lots of other good options on the menu.

The wine list is simple but delightful and fairly priced. We had a bottle of the Bodega Albariño and it was delightful!

We ordered the Salmon and the Fish Tacos and enjoyed both but the tacos were our fav! We ordered the homemade chips with it - they were great.

The crème brûlée was perfect - just the right amount of warm and cold!

The ambiance is wonderful- light, bright and nautical!

Service was attentive!

This restaurant is beautiful! The atmosphere was perfect for a quick lunch to or from a day at the beach or an evening date. We ordered Grilled Salmon and Jumbo sea scallops. Also, had a delicious cocktail called Topic Like it’s Hot. The food was amazing, however the portion on the scallops was underwhelming. They were 3 scallops atop some creamed spinach and puree. They were delicious however for $45 it was disappointing to leave still hungry. It was basically an appetizer for 1. The Grilled Salmon on the other hand! WOW! Probably one of the BEST grilled salmon I have ever had! It was a perfect portion size, filling and reasonably priced. Would go back...

We visited while on our family vacation about three weeks after they opened and it was the best meal we had while on the island. The oysters and calamari were a great appetizer, my husband said it was the best red fish he had ever had, I loved my scallops, and our girls enjoyed the kids chicken strips. Definitely a great atmosphere and a low key upscale vibe. The service was on point and they were very welcoming. We see this becoming a must visit restaurant for friends as family visiting SPI...
