The kj and everyone in the crowd was super sweet and supportive of both myself and my support animal. I wasnt questioned and interrogated about his paperwork either because who actually carries it around when we all barely remember to not forget our keys and phone to begin with. I loved this spot my tab was about 10 for 2 non alcoholic beers as micheladas. The bartender and the crowd has the humor of an army veteran the Ramones and Bohemian hippies made into 1. I literally met a gypsy a realtor a firr dancer and a couple from the Midwest and California who shared their stories about cancer related losses. And all these folks were the local regulars. The island itself has a very heavenly vibe you can see everything from every income bracket every country coexisting very lovingly and peacefully here. Love this spot. The atmosphere was amazing. The bartenders were super nice, great service. The man who was in charge of the karaoke, on the other hand, was not nice at all. They have karaoke every single night of the week and this is the spot to be.. My friends and I had a great time until the man in charge of the karaoke said that I couldn't be on stage with my friend as a duet. He was very rude and because I had just went on stage two singers prior, I wasn't allowed to sing with my friend. She wanted me and another friend to sing with her. Although, we saw others do the same thing within the hour. I felt singled out and he then put us at the end of the list to sing again and we never sang another song. A group of us wanted to listen to a band we like who were scheduled to play there. I looked at the comments and saw several references to problems with smoke - I thought surely they must be out of date so I went to check it out. I only had to open the front door to know it is still a serious problem.

Maybe the owners are making all the money they want. I admire someone who is willing to stand by their principles even if it costs them to do so. I’d just point out that bars and restaurants everywhere complained when indoor smoking was going to be prohibited but, in the end their business was not harmed.

I expect that Texas will one day join the rest of the modern world and ban smoking indoors. Coral Reef will likely still be a great and friendly bar and I’ll look forward...
