At first, I thought the woman working at Ship Shape was very friendly. She greeted us loudly and enthusiastically, mentioning right away that they were a family-owned store and the only one on the island authorized to sell Tommy Bahama and personalized ‘Life is Good’ T-shirts with South Padre Island on them. She followed us around the store, offering suggestions and being extremely helpful—borderline bossy, but still friendly.

However, things took a turn when I selected a ‘Life is Good’ T-shirt. She approached me and, in a low voice, asked if I knew the difference between the materials. She then commented that one fit was “not forgiving” and went on to say, “the only rolls my husband needs to see are at the dinner table.” As someone who struggles with self-esteem and body image, this remark was incredibly upsetting.

I believe she needs training on understanding boundaries and avoiding inappropriate comments about people’s weight. Unfortunately, I did not make a purchase for myself because of this...

On Sunday Oct 6 my niece and I were visiting the island for vacation! We were shopping and stopped in your store. Greeted by 2 lovely sale associates…. Your store is amazing and the sales lady knew her inventory and was sooooo pleasant and up beat! Fun as well…. She sold us on the sun revival spray, and so we bought it!! We LOVED the product and even put in fridge for after our beach and pool days!!! Absolute AMAZING product!!!! However, if people are flying like we did, it got confiscated at the TSA in airport. Dang! Never thought about the size of it. So if selling to travelers they should be asked if flying …. Great product was sad it’s gone…… thank you for your time ….. This is not your typical tourist trap as far as shopping is concerned. Nice clothing and cute souvenirs! The owner greeted us as soon as we walked in and we struck up a conversation. She was actually from my hometown, small world! I couldn't leave there without making a purchase. My daughter tried on a glow in the dark sea turtle shirt. While in the dressing room she turned off the lights to see it and shouted "cooooooollll!!!" The owner raced over to see it and had my daughters cracking up. We will definitely be back for more shopping trips at Ship Shape during...
