We had a very good 3-night stay. We arrived about 90 minutes before check-in and surprisingly our room was ready. The host didn't know that I was bringing my dogs, even though I called on 8/2 to add them to the reservation. Usually, I request a first floor room because it's easier to get in and out with the dogs. Since the room assigned to me was ready, I didn't bother waiting to see if a first floor room was available. I do wonder, though, if there are carpetless rooms for people traveling with their dogs. The rug in our room was stained and most likely had some doggie guests in the past. There is a charge of $75 for the dogs, which seemed excessive, but I guess it could always be worse. The doggy relief area was stocked with bags and the garbage bin was always cleaned out. We were with 3 teens, so the pool and the weight room were great ways to stay active. Our room was very large and offered plenty of storage space. The bathroom needs more hooks especially since you can't hang anything on the pocket door. On the surface everything in our room was clean, but upon closer inspection it needed some deep cleaning. There were some spots on the bathroom wall as if someone sprayed a hair product. It either stained the wall immediately or no one had ever tried to clean it. As mentioned, our rug had stains that need to be shampooed out. The same goes for the hallways carpets. Every floor had big, dark stains. All could use a deep clean. Breakfast was good enough each day. They offered hot eggs everyday and one type of meat, but never any potatoes. I was told that those are served only on the weekends. Youd think that potatoes would be offered everyday since those are less expensive than eggs or meat. People would fill up on those rather than go back for extra portions of the other offerings. The food was quickly replenished but the serving area needed to be cleaned up better. There was always chocolate chips, brown sugar, dried fruit, syrup and waffle batter all over the counters. One day, there was so much syrup on the floor that my flip flop got stuck in it and slid off my foot. The lobby was great. Plenty of seating and charging ports. We enjoyed a take-out dinner at the large table one evening. This location was good for getting to Old Port by car, as it was 15 minutes away. I loved seeing the planes take off and land at the airport right across the road. The people at the front desk were nice enough, but never overly friendly. Sometimes they didn't even look up, nevermind a hello or welcome back. The men who clean the rooms speak no English whatsoever, nothing. It was near impossible to communicate with them. I suppose these hotels are franchised because while the themeing, layout and vision seem to be the same across all Home2s, this one offered less than the last four Home2s I've stayed at. Most had conditioner in the shower, this one offered shampoo and body wash, only. The Ocean City, MD Home2 offers body lotion and hand soap in wall-mounted dispensers. Nicest of all was Nashville Home2 that offered real cutlery and plates at breakfast, as well as mugs for coffee throughout the day. This Home2 served everything on paper plates and offered plastic cutlery. That seems to go against their vision of conservation. Throughout the day, they offered coffee, but no hot water. I wanted a cup of tea, but couldn't get it outside of breakfast hours if I didn't choose to make it in my room. All in all, the hotel offers nice amenties, is modern and clean so I would recommend it for travelers of all ages...
Read moreI stayed at this location for all of September and October of ‘18 to attend medical school close by for 4 months. Before moving in, I was quite hesitant to stay in a hotel due to potential noise. But, I was incessantly reassured by staff that the rooms were very quiet and insulated — Untrue. I also informed a staff member over the phone that I’d be bringing my dog and that I would like a top floor room to cut down potential upstairs neighbor noise... I was told it would be absolutely no problem — untrue. Once I arrived, I was given a second floor room which literally rattled every time a plane flew overhead. Aside from this noise, the walls were paper thin. Every night or every other night a new guest would check in next door and their TV noise or conversation would blare into my room... many times at 2 or 3 AM. There was a fourth floor corner room perfect for my needs available, but I was denied to occupy it because they have a policy that doesn’t allow dogs to occupy rooms on the third and fourth floor. This completely stumped me, considering I had seen many guests have their dogs on both the third and fourth floors. When I brought this up to the girl at the front desk, she laughed and said people with dogs stay on the third and fourth floors all the time. I also brought this up to management , and he shrugged his shoulders and literally said, “oh, well it shouldn’t happen.” I didn’t understand why I was being treated any differently than the rest of the guests. They moved me to a 2nd floor room on the other side of the hotel where they promised it would be quieter, and of course, it was not. They promised me again that the month of October would be quiet and urged me to stay... I stayed because moving during an intense semester was not ideal at the moment. Night after night I endured neighbor noise... kids running and jumping above me, TV noise blasting into my room, conversation, etc,. After notifying front desk about the kids running and jumping after 3 hours above me, nothing was done to ameliorate the situation and my call was left on hold. I logged into my Hilton Honors App to file a complaint regarding my dissatisfaction with the staff, only to receive a call from management the next day saying they saw that I had complained and because I was unhappy, decided not to let me stay at Home2 suites.... all because I used my app for what it was intended for. Instead of trying to fix the situation and to make a long-term Hilton guest feel welcomed, the staff resorted to essentially saying, “you’re unhappy, so we’re asking you to leave.” After taking thousands of dollars from me, this is how Home2 Suites Hilton treated me when I was nothing but respectful and courteous during my entire stay... even after being completely lied to on numerous occasions by management. If you’re looking for a long-term stay and want a quiet place, in my opinion, this is not a good choice. Perhaps if I was there for a day or two the noise and the discrepancies wouldn’t have affected me as it did daily for two months. I moved to a different hotel called Candlewood Suites that is about 5-7 minutes away and was...

From booking my reservation, checking in and departing via the airport shuttle - I was extremely impressed by their friendly and professional staff. With our departure from the hotel planned for 4:15 a.m., I asked Paige, the receptionist, if I could get some food to take to my room because their free continental breakfast wouldn't be available until 6 a.m. She surprised me by saying that she would leave a note for the next person on-duty to see to it that there would be coffee, milk and juice and cereal by 3:45 a.m. so that we could have something to eat before our departure. Now THAT is customer service!
Now, on to our room. As we entered our room, we were blown away by its size. There were two double beds with three different pillows - each of a different thickness for the person that needs just the right pillow. A comfy sofa and ottoman provided a nice area to meet and chat with friends instead of conversing on the beds. The room was so big that you could easily host a gathering of 10 people without feeling cramped.
There was also a full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, plenty of counter space and a roomy desk for my computer. Because this hotel is only a couple months old - everything was in like-new condition. The bathroom was spacious with a shower that included Neutrogena shampoo and shower gel.
One problem I have at every hotel is finding my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I manage to stub my toe on a bed or desk in the dark so I started packing a night light to illuminate the way. Apparently, Hilton is aware of this problem because there was a built-in night light in our bathroom. Did I mention that I have left a number of night lights in our hotel bathrooms through the years? Not this time since I never had to use mine.
All lighting (and there was plenty of lamps throughout the room) were energy efficient LEDs. Being concerned about the environment, global warming and energy conservation, I was happy to see that Hilton shares the same beliefs.
This hotel has set the bar so high that others will have to work hard to meet. Next time I'm flying through Portland, Maine, this is the hotel I'll...
