This hotel is located in South Portland, a 15-minute ride to downtown. It sits on a quiet hill next to an office park with a plentiful amount of parking. This used to be a Marriott property and rebranded as a Sheraton. Both public areas and rooms look as though it's been recently renovated. The hotel has a contemporary/modern vibe.
We stayed for two nights. Our check-in was quick. If you're a BonVoy Elite member, you'll receive a voucher to go to the main restaurant for breakfast. Included with the voucher is a beverage one entree. I had the avocado toast each morning. The quality and quantity was excellent. The coffee wasn't so great. As an Elite member, you'll have access to the lounge. It's right next door to the restaurant. There's a coffee machine inside and with a touch of a few buttons, it will make you a black coffee, latte, americano, etc. Get your coffee there and bring it back to your table. The service at breakfast was superb. They have a friendly staff.
Speaking of the lounge, breakfast is not currently offered inside. It's open 24 hours and offers beverages, coffee, and an assortment of snacks and fruit. Nice place to unwind. Housekeeping wasn't so great in the lounge. I left utensils and a some cans on the counter. There wasn't a trash can. Someone else left items as well. When I returned that evening, it had not been picked up.
The fitness center is medium in size and offers a variety of cardio equipment, free weights, stretch mats, and foam roller. Some of the Swiss balls looked deflated. Even though I didn't use the pool, it looked big and was indoors.
Our room was average in size. Like the rest of the hotel, it was renovated. I've been in some hotels where a renovation was complete but they left the original shower and/or bathtub. The bathroom was completely renovated with a new shower.
The location is ideal if you don't want to pay the higher rates in downtown Portland. There's plenty of shopping, restaurants, and other conveniences within a 5-minute drive. Best of all, it's right off I-95 and near the airport. Even though there were some minor bleeps mentioned in my review, the hotel still gets a 5-star review. I plan to stay here again when I return...
Read moreMy husband and I booked this Sheraton for my birthday weekend and honestly, it was a letdown especially at about $250 a night. This is easily one of the weakest Sheratons I’ve stayed at.
The room was clean but small, the sheets barely fit the bed and the cases did not fully fit the pillow and the TV was outdated. The remote didn’t even have a way to adjust the brightness. The internet for the tv went out and we had to call for someone to check it out and they did a good job and was very hospitable but it was a little annoying having to deal with that at night when we were winding down after a long day in Portland.
Service was the biggest disappointment. My husband called the day before to see if they could do something small to acknowledge my birthday - nothing extravagant, just a simple note or a towel arrangement would have been nice. Instead they sounded surprised that this was asked, and he was transferred to the manager’s voicemail and never heard back. Unsurprisingly, when we arrived, there was no gesture at all.
There was one front desk staff that we dealt with really sealed the bad impression. The person who checked us in was this bigger white lady that came across as completely uninterested in welcoming guests and had that same energy the next day. When I called to place a room service order, she cut me off and told me to speak the restaurant directly, sounding annoyed before transferring my call. Later, when I called back to ask for a couple of water bottles - especially since we’d opted out of housekeeping for our short stay - she said we’d have to come down and buy them. When I asked if Sheraton usually provides complimentary water, she replied that it’s “only at check-in,” again in a tone that was unnecessarily rude.
For a Sheraton property, I expected a much higher standard of hospitality. The hotel itself could shine with better amenities and customer service, but as it stands, the experience felt overpriced and...
Read moreWe have stayed with the Sheraton Sable Oaks many times over the years.|All of our experiences were fine except for the last few. Our reception at this hotel has not been friendly and we are never thanked for being Lifetime Gold members. On our last trip in August 2025 we booked two rooms connecting. Everything worked out fine. On the last day of our stay we went to breakfast with our two grandsons and my husband realized he had forgotten his wallet in our room. I volunteered to get it for him. When I went to our connecting rooms both keys did not work. I went to the desk and was told that it must have been deleted although this was only 9:15 am and not even close to check out time. We also realized that the WiFi had been removed for both of our rooms. The attendant at the desk made me new keys. When I returned to the rooms I realized the new key cards did not work. Returned to the desk and was told that maintenance would have to look at it. I returned to the restaurant and ordered my breakfast. Then went back to desk and was given new keys again. One worked and the other didn’t. When I got into the room there was a man sitting in the room looking out the window. I asked what he was doing in our room and he didn’t speak English so I’m not sure what the answer was. I asked him to leave. At this point my breakfast was on the table and getting cold. Later they took my breakfast off the bill. I returned to the lobby and asked to speak to the manager, Emily Sutton. I was told she was on a phone call. Came back later and asked two more times to speak to the manager….she was always busy. She eventually sent out the Assistant Manager. He did absolutely nothing and just stared at me. He did not even say he was sorry this entire inconvenience happened!|I hope the manager eventually has time to talk to me, but I’m not counting on it!|This is the second time I have written this review. I guess they only publish the...
