I found my hotel for when I travel between Maine and NJ! Upon entering the hotel I was met by Elizabeth who checked me in and was very friendly and helpful. You can tell the place is cared for as everything smells, looks, and feels fresh. Constant cleaning can be seen throughout the day so no worries there! The open concept lobby is great!! The center Kiosk is your one stop shop for everything you need from check in, buying beer, wine, food, snacks, and the toiletries you forgot. There is a pool table, free breakfast bar, free coffee station (which came in handy) and plenty of seats and tables to eat or do work. They even have these great work pods! Seats aren't your thing? No problem! They have 2 hanging basket swings you can lounge and relax in while you do your work NOTE FOR ANYONE WORKING REMOTELY the network here is an open network and therefore unsecured. You should consider using a mobile hotspot as your internet connection and a VPN to connect to your network resources or you are wide open to guests that know too much. They use a VPN on the backend of their server and dialed in the WI-FI power settings so it doesn't extend beyond the building which is better than nothing, but still, beware.
Special shout out to Sydney who has been super helpful, kind, and has the perfect hospitality energy. Everyone in the staff that I have met so far has been super helpful and kind and I thank them all! Always a sincere "Hello" and "Have a great day", that really makes you feel welcome.
The room really set this place apart. I have been to many hotels in my travels but this place fits my lifestyle and likeness. Beautiful wood style tile on the floor, a sleek shelf that runs the one side of the wall with a HUGE TV and plenty of space for your things. Some of the outlets have USB outlets which is super convenient. The bed was super comfortable and clean! The bedside tray on wheels can be used as your workstation or just for snacks in bed! the bathrooms are updated and sleek as well! They have these amazing soap dispensers that you just squeeze and liquid soap comes out. They don't entertain that dry bar soap nonsense or the small bottle that runs out after your first shower. Mini fridge keeps the beer and water cold. I do wish there was a microwave in the room but I can overlook that. There is one at the kiosk downstairs but one in the room would be great.
The airport is right here so they offer a shuttle service to come pick you up and bring you right here if you need. There are shops and restaurant's within walking distance and across the street. Overall, I am super impressed and satisfied with my stay so far and will definitely be coming back every time I come to...
Read moreIn July of this year, I made a reservation through Expedia for one night's stay on September 14th. When I attempted to check in at 6 PM I was told that the reservation could not be honored because I was a “no-show”. The desk clerk told me that my reservation had been for two nights, the 13th and the 14th, and that because I was a “no-show” on the 13th I was deemed to be a no-show on the 14th. To get a room I had to book at the hotel's prevailing rate, which was $42.68 more than what I had paid via Expedia.. A check of my confirmation revealed that yes, I had reserved and indeed paid for two nights, the 13th and 14th, an error I overlooked when I received the confirmation papers from Expedia. (Had I, I would have corrected the mistake immediately!) Whose mistake this was...mine or Expedia's...is moot...since they sent written confirmation which I failed to correct, I had to bite the bullet on that. However, what is not in question is that TRU had been paid by Expedia on my behalf for the two nights in question, and thus TRU had no business assuming that because I was absent on the 13th that I would therefore be absent on the 14th as well. I might have had car trouble, a medical issue, or have been delayed for some other reason... in any case I should have been able to rely on the room being available to me for the entire time for which it had been paid. The hotel manager, said his “system” automatically classified me as a no-show. He was adamant, and said that had I called the hotel and alerted them to my delay, they could have made some accommodation, but since I had not, there was nothing he would do. This is not how you treat a customer: as if TRU were a parent whose child had failed to notify that he wouldn't be home when he was supposed to be. Moreover, they had indeed accepted payment from Expedia for both nights, yet when I asked TRU for a refund for the second night, they said sorry, I would have to deal with Expedia. Which I did. And when EXPEDIA contacted them with the same request, they relented and refunded the original amount of the charge for the second night. Bottom line: I was ripped off for the difference, $42.68. (Had Expedia not contacted them, they would have happily waltzed away with A DOUBLE PAYMENT FOR THAT ONE NIGHT! Terrible, terrible customer...
Read moreI gave the hotel a "4" two years ago but now need to change it to a "3". When my husband and I arrived we were greeted by a very friendly desk clerk. Once we got off the elevator on the second floor, we could hear a small dog barking incessantly as we walked to our room. As we got closer, we could tell that the dog was in a room two doors away from ours. We immediately went to the front desk and requested a different room and were given one on the fourth floor. We also learned that the entire hotel is "animal friendly" - not just a certain wing or floor. The room is basic and that is fine since we weren't planning to spend anytime in the room. While the room was mostly clean, I did notice that the corners of the room as well as under the beds could have been mopped more thoroughly. The beds are on the soft side and they have not replaced the very soft or lumpy pillows that we experienced two years ago. Yes, it is noisy (cars, airplanes) but that is to be expected considering where it is located. Just wear earplugs if the noise is bothersome. The blackout shades are fantastic, though! The bathroom is large and spacious but the fan did not work. I love the less-waste idea of the squeezable containers of soap and lotion but they are very difficult to squeeze. I'm a big fan of an actual clock in the room, but unfortunately, ours did not work. We did take it down to the front desk and requested a replacement, and by that night, they had another one waiting for us. The Saturday omelets were really good but I can't say the same about the hard, tasteless english muffins or bagels. Sunday was disappointing as the pancake machine was broken and the bananas were mostly bruised. I understand the philosophy of the hotel and appreciate having a less expensive place to stay for a quick visit. But as a Hilton Honors member, it doesn't quite meet the standards I have come to expect. It's the little things...
