Before I booked I called to verify that the pool was heated because we wanted my daughter to be able to swim during our stayWhen we arrived the pool was ice cold and there was another lady with two children that were sitting in the hot tub portion because she said the kids wanted to swim so badly she had to let them at least sit in the hot tub portion because the pool was too cold. Upon talking to the front desk the associate stated that she would speak with the manager so before dinner I went back down to discuss with the associate with the manager had said and she said that he said he talk to me and that it was all taken care of no one ever reached out to me or spoke with me at all they said they couldn’t give me any money back or anything like that and that it is what it is then another employee stated the pool is always that temperature and it’s warm considering we’re in the middle of Maine which was completely unprofessional and inappropriateHe was very rude to me my husband and daughter I got his name his name once leaving my in-laws and parents were still in the lobby and He proceeded to call me an inappropriate name and say that I was crazy because I was asking about the temperature of the pool and That we would have to deal with it. My father-in-law then said something to the associate and Shay that I was his daughter-in-law and that they were very unprofessional the associate stated that she tried to “shut Him up” Because she knew they were my family. I tried to speak to the manager but miraculously he was no longer available to discuss any of my concerns of the unprofessionalism of his staff we were hesitant then to leave for dinner because we are afraid our belongings being in the room will be tampered with with just the way he was acting. There was nothing done to attempt to give us any money back and I stated the only reason we stayed at that hotel was because there was a pool for my child swimming which was also the reason why I validated that it was heated before we even booked our stay to make sure that my daughter would be able to swim in it which would’ve been the highlight of our trip for her. I have stayed at many Marriotts before and never have had such a horrible experience and I will never recommend it again to anyone they should’ve given us some type of reimbursement after the behavior of their employees and condition of the pool or at the very least the manager should have reached out to me or...
Read moreStayed 2 nights. I’ll start with my complaints: -no free breakfast- with a room for 4 costing over $150/night, you’d think they could afford to have breakfast included. -breakfast at the Bistro restaurant was $8-$11 with a very limited menu. $11 was for a breakfast sandwich! -no free coffee or tea in the lobby- for a business focused hotel, you’d think offering only hot chocolate in the lobby is a little short sighted. -no one cleaned our room while we were out during the day. This meant we didn’t get more coffee pods to make coffee for the morning, since this was the only coffee they offered, we had to go to the front desk and request more. The room description stated that there is in room coffee and tea, but we did not have any tea provided. -housekeeping was VERY loud - banging around, walking heavily, slamming doors- while cleaning the room next door to us starting at 8am- checkout is at noon so I was surprised they didn’t at least try to be more quiet. -the refrigerator seems to shut off after a certain amount of time? It was cold when we came in the first night but when we went to put something in it the second evening, it was really warm- the salad we had stored was wilted
Compliments: -the room was very clean and comfortable -air-conditioning worked, even in January- we like our room to be cool at night so this was great -the room darkening shades worked GREAT -front desk was very helpful in the 3 interactions we had with them -plenty of parking -safe location- very close to shopping and other...

Every summer, for the past 5 years, I fly from Detroit to Portland with my son to drop him off at summer camp. We have found the Courtyard Portland Airport to be the perfect home away from home. The location is perfect, easy to get on to the freeways, and close to the Jetport. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. I always book my room here without considering other hotels around the area because I feel I would be disappointed if I stayed elsewhere.
I have a soft spot in my heart for the lovely Irish gentleman, Patrick, who runs the Bistro in the morning. He remembers me every year and makes us a delicious breakfast from scratch. He’s so thoughtful and I look forward to seeing him every summer.
My son’s favorite after camp activity is candlepin bowling which is not available in Michigan. And my favorite place for lobster rolls is Bite Into Maine, I enjoy their Picnic Style (with coleslaw, celery salt and butter) the most, however all the styles are great!
I advise summer travelers to book your hotel rooms way ahead of time. Maine is an incredible state to visit and many visitors from around the world do just that. I personally look forward to returning every summer to enjoy its...
