This was the worst experience we've had in a hotel. When I went to check in, Jolene told me there wasn't two reservations, and what we were told by another associate that the pets are only on the first floor was wrong. We had been assured that my mother would be near the elevator because she can't walk, but that hadn't been done. We also were assured we would both have no smoking rooms. Jolene was shockingly angry and aggressive. She was yelling, ranting and raving that we had been told that by the other girl. I went out to the car to tell my mother what was happening, while she was looking for rooms for us. I came back in and she said she called up the girl we spoke to and "yelled at her" for telling us that. She was so angry and aggressive that another guest came over and asked what was going on and if everything was ok. I told him there were some problems with the reservation and I was sorry that it was taking awhile but we were getting it worked out. He then asked her if she was ok and her response was very angry and aggressive. She said, "Are you minding other people's business? Are you minding other people's business? Yes you are. Move along. Go." He seemed surprised and shocked but went down the hallway. I was surprised and shocked he was spoken to like that since he seemed to be trying to be helpful. She got a room for my mother on the first floor right next to the door, and I had one several doors down. Jolene was so aggressive, jittery and jerky that I believed she was on something, or else suffering from some type of mental issue. She did do what she could to help us. My mother was miserable because people were constantly smoking under the awning next to her room and the smoke was constantly coming in through the air conditioner unit and the outside door. Also, she was kept awake all night as people were partying in the room above her. My room was ok except that the toilet seat was broken and I was told by the maid that she informed them about it 4 days prior but they wouldn't fix it. The girl at the front desk said she would try to find someone to fix it. A young man came to my door, who was clearly on drugs. He was moving in a jerky, high-strung manner, and had pick sores all over both his arms. He bent down to fix it and his pants came completely off his backside and sat underneath it so I was 'treated' to a view of his entire backside. I stayed at the door to the hallway, holding it open the entire time because I felt that was so unprofessional and gross, I didn't want to have the outside closed with him in there like that. He told me that he had been "in residence" for 19 days and was getting hired as their maintenance. What does that mean? I got the impression I was in a drug halfway house because the behavior and appearance of many of the staff and guests was shocking. All the guests we saw looked to be on drugs or previously homeless. Every time we came outside, there were people smoking and looking high. The appearance of the property was pretty run down, and there were eight bags of garbage piled up outside one of the entrances. The outside was so discolored it looked like it hadn't been painted in decades. An extremely bright car lot-style parking lot security light shone right outside my window, requiring me to use a sleep mask even though there were blackout curtains. We felt so unsafe that we cancelled the last day and cut our stay in Salt Lake short. We couldn't get away from this place fast enough. Even so, when we checked out about 8 AM, they didn't have any coffee or breakfast set out and said the coffee had just arrived. Even though we informed the staff of multiple problems and that we felt so unsafe we cancelled a day early, no one has contacted us in all this time to convey their concern or rectify the situation. We are still...
Read moreStayed here for two weeks, overall was great.
Cons: I was eating breakfast with a friend when I was asked to go into the managers office and was accused of ripping open bags of oatmeal and spreading it on the floor. Why in the world would anyone do that is beyond me, but to accuse me of childish behavior didn't set well with me, after clearing my name went back to eating.
Second con: I get that it's Utah, but having a "book of Mormon" in the side drawer in place where a bible typically is, just seems ignorant. Not all guests are LDS. But tons are christian based and read the Bible.
Third con: Loni (works evening shifts), is EXTREMELY rude! Few days before asked if she could fax something for me AS IT'S PART OF THE FEATURE of staying with them. Few days later asked her to fax another one (granted it was a bit more, it was for my doctors, info they requested from me). I made a comment about the technology of the fax machine (totally innocent, fax machines in general), and she flipped and started talking back to me, complaining that she had to fax my stuff before and is having to do it again, ranting and raving like a lunatic, to the point the other guy working with her told her to calm down and stop fighting. It made me upset that she's complaining about having to do her job by providing customer service, and sending my faxes (which it clearly states they do faxes for customers). Told her to stop yelling at me, and in the same yelling voice, told me she wasn't yelling. She went to back room, so I reached for a comment card on front desk and quietly asked the other guy what her name is, she comes rip roaring out of the backroom like a bat out of hell and writes her name down on a posted note slammed it on the desk in front of me and said "HERE THAT WAY YOU WON'T FORGET IT!" Then marched back into the back room. Mortified!! How dare she treat a customer like that! I'm disgusted and appalled by her childish temper tantrum and insulting me by throwing a fit for a simple request to fax papers. It ruined the rest of the time I was there. She is for sure in the wrong line of work.
Pros: They have a nice heated indoor pool, and hot tub, and laundy facilities. I wouldn't say it is luxurious, but rather a step up from motel 8. Nothing exciting about the rooms, pretty typical. They have higher standards of cleanliness which is more important to me. I'd rather take the tacky pictures on my wall, rather than the previous customers unknown substance any day. Only thing I'd recommend is cleaning the shower heads, as after awhile they grow mold. Nothing that a little soaking in bleach and scrubbing can't solve. House keepers here are awesome people, they are sweet and down to earth, they do an amazing job! The lady who runs the breakfast (which is supper yummy, with a wide variety of foods to choose from, plus you can make your own waffles, cereal, boiled eggs, fresh fruit...etc) is totally cool, guy at the desk in the mornings, with his awesomely spiffy ties, is amazing (was fun waking up each morning to see what other cool tie he had on for the day). Everyone I met here was above and beyond professional and courteous EXCEPT LONI. She's the kind of person who will drive a good business into the ground, steer clear of her. She's mean and nasty! Was planning on giving 5 stars, but being treated the way LONI treated me is completely unprofessional, unacceptable and just flat out rude. Maybe she should switch with the laundry guys... away from paying customers, laundry guys understand what good...
Read moreThis hotel is completely unacceptable, especially for the price. My teen kids were fearful to stay here because of the type of clientele that were coming and going (we ended up with the owner admitting to a problem with guests who check in and then want to check out in less than an overnight, if you get the drift), and the area in which the hotel sits. The room did not look anything like the posted online advertising photos. Completely bare, dirty, and smelly. The carpet was buckling in several places and was very stained. Two lightbulbs were burned out and there was dust on several surfaces. My kids wanted to leave! I felt awkward but finally went to the front desk after about 15 minutes of trying to figure out what to do, to let them know the situation and that we needed to leave and be issued a refund. The young lady at the desk complied but then we were confronted by a male staff member who accused us of using the room and lying to them about having used the room. We were in the room for 15 minutes tops and only sat down to figure out what to do next to get out of the place! We ended up in a heated argument with that staff member and then another one (owners?) who came into the discussion. We'll see if the refund actually goes through, as when I called later to check with their night auditor after my husband discovered that no refund had yet shown up on our statement, I was told it would take up to 2 weeks to go through. In all fairness I was trying to find somewhat of a budget friendly hotel for this quick college tour trip, but this hotel is on the level of a super budget motor inn, NOT one with a rate over one hundred dollars before taxes and NOT with the Wyndham name attached. I expected way better due to those two factors as well as the pictures online, and any guest at any hotel no matter the price should be able to at least count on a clean room! A very stressful experience! Do not stay at this hotel unless you have VERY low...
