By far the best Americanized Chinese food that I have had in Salt Lake. Ordered takeout and everything was packaged very well and clean. Even included a piece of cardboard in the bottom of the bag to keep all the containers from tipping.
Included hot mustard, 2 dipping sauces for the potstickers, as well as sweet and sour sauce and a couple packets of soy sauce.
Everything was delicious. I ordered kung pao veg chicken, which could have been spicier. Still the best tasting kung pao chicken I've had. The hot and soup was also delicious and I'm generous portions. My wife loved the sesame veg chicken. The spring rolls were freaking awesome.
3-8-19 edit* Ordered again, asking that the Kung Pao beef spicier this time. It is nice and spicy, and even better than the first time.
This is now my new go to, and not just because of all the vegetarian options. Nothing was too saucy or messy or over spiced with random seasonings like so many of the Chinese dishes...
Read moreMy partner and I selected this restaurant because it was in easy walking distance to our nearby hotel. What a find! We were pleasantly greeted by a gentleman, presumably the owner and seated. We ordered appetizers from the menu consisting of spring rolls, which had fresh, country vegetables and a tasty bowl of hot and sour soup. We barely finished before our main dishes arrived. My partner had a delicious platter of chicken and broccoli. The broccoli was especially yummy as it was hot and still nicely crunchy. I ordered a true veggie dish of tofu in (not too) spicy garlic sauce. The perfectly cooked tofu was accompanied by a myriad of assorted vegetables and a savory sauce that was not too spicy. I imagine, one could request the dish to be spicier but it's hard to take spicy out. I wish I lived in the area because I wouldn't hesitate to...
Read moreI have been going to Long Life for about two years, since they moved down to state street. Over this time I have come to believe they do not really change the recipes for the stirfry’s they offer, in other words, most of the dishes taste the same with the exception of an individual ingredient. For example, today I ordered spicy garlic shrimp, and there were no peppers and much to my chagrin, they used frozen peas and carrots. The dish was not spicy at all and it had way too many water chestnuts. A vegetarian restaurant, using frozen carrots who would’ve thought… Today I also ordered sweet and sour soup. Unfortunately it was only warm. It was not sour, was way too ‘gloppy’ and I did not see any pork in it. I guess this place is OK if you go once a year but I think I will try others...
