My stay at Northfield Inn suites during a family emergency was cut short. We arrived and checked in at around 7pm I believe, and checked out in a rush around 12:40am. My boyfriend has family right down the road from this hotel, so we've stayed many times there under his name and mine, along with the Ramada across the way. We've always had a wonderful experience, however this time was very different.
We checked in and went to dinner, but afterwards I wasn't feeling well and was unable to go with my boyfriend to visit his family. I stayed back, in the hotel room and awaited his return. Upon his return, we got ready for bed and I went to use the bathroom. When I entered and turned on the light, a very noticeable bug was on the floor crawling around. Because I've frequented hotels often on road trips, I immediately recognized the bug. It was a beg bug. I could not pack my things fast enough to vacate the area. Upon informing the young man named Riley at the front desk, I was met with an attitude of indifference and of no concern or alarm, when I was clearly shaken about the situation. He offered another room to which I declined, and he lacked any sort of empathy as he told me he could not issue a refund. The refund was not the issue, it was his attitude about it.
However, the morning Manager Sarah was polite when she reached out later in the morning while we were at another hotel. She informed us we left things behind in our rush, and explained the refund process. However, her concern about the situation and my findings was sort of lackluster.
I don't expect anyone to hoot and holler and cause a ruckus, but some significant concern seems appropriate given the situation. At least remorse for my experience. This was truly one of my worst fears, as I mentioned I travel quite a bit.
Also notable, I didn't catch her name but the lady who checked me in is quite pleasant. She's friendly, bubbly and left a very good impression upon check in.
Unfortunately we will no longer be using Northfield or the Ramada as our options when in town. As I mentioned they're in close proximity to family and quite ideal, however I cannot take the risk of bring home unwanted, pesky guests.
edit after the response from hotel The likelihood that there was one lone adult bed bug is unheard of. It certainly didn't come in with me. And the "sincere apology" was more indifferent and unconcerned. Yes, I was fully refunded after speaking to the manager in...
Read moreWell, really surprised. Before booking, we checked the reviews. Everything looked good for booking in this hotel.
Unfortunately when we arrived we realized very quickly that my rooms were not cleaned or badly cleaned?
I even thought I had the wrong hotel.
We went to the reception, ambarassed we explained that the room was not clean.
The receptionist did not argue and offered us another room. This one was just as dirty.
She came with us to show us a third room which was again just as dirty.
My girlfriend asked for a product to clean the room ourselves.
Chloe the receptionist was very helpful and helpless because we knew very well that she was not responsible.
75$ for a room not washed I find it expensive. Especially after driving for 9 hours, we don't ask for great luxury but only a clean bed and a clean toilet.
Nothing was cleaned, urine and feces on the toilet. Hair in the bed, we also had itching during the night, we even suspected that there were bed bugs.
No commercial action was taken. We do not understand how it is possible to have such dirty rooms and a hotel with such a good rating.
Moreover, in the morning we noticed a team of several cleaning ladies. How is the cleaning done?
I have the impression that only the sheets are changed.
It's been 2 months since we've been on a roadtrip in the US and this hotel was by far our...
Read moreTo be very honest, I only leave reviews when they’re positive because i own a small business and understand how heavily a bad review can weigh… however I really did not enjoy my stay at Northfield Inn at all. Firstly, the bathrooms were visibly dirty. Literally there was hair on the walls of the shower and the toilet was dirty. I paid for a room with a jacuzzi which was a waste. There was a dirty cloth left there from what i assume was housekeeping and the jacuzzi jets did not work. There was also hair wrapped around a few of them which really left me confused because how did housekeeping not think that was a priority to clean? They have a portable humidifier in the room as well as an air conditioner so it blowed on us all night. I was afraid to turn it off since no one explained to me what it was for and i didn’t want to be liable for anything. To be honest, the entire stay was really just uncomfortable and highly disappointing since i only stayed there because of the “good” reviews. It really was a waste of money because even after we self cleaned the jacuzzi (the room didn’t get serviced for the 3 days we were there) it was still just uncomfortable to submerge your body in a jacuzzi you know is just dirty. I ended up staying in Springfield longer and chose to check out and go to...
