We had heard many good things about Tacos El Champu. My wife and I went fairly early on Saturday night. Seemed fairly slow at the time with only a few people finishing up. While we were there at least 2 to go orders went out and several tables were seated.

Chips and salsa was good. Chips were the thicker style chips and salsa was not your standard red salsa but a green salsa. It did have plenty of Cilantro. Surprisingly we did eat a ton of chips. Typically if chips and salsa sit in front of us we are eating them but for some reason we just didnt fill up on chips and salsa.

Menu has a very wide variety of food and prices. Prices seemed a little high but you do get plenty of food for sure. We had the birria tacos and torta cubano. You get 4 birria tacos not your standard 3 anywhere else, very good. The torta cubana was very good and very filling. All of our food was very fresh and hot. Had to lef our food cool down before we could actually eat it. The torta cubana came with fries and guacomole which wasnt listed on the menu.

The menu is pretty overwhelming. Lots of items to choose from. When i ordered the torta cubana i was not aware it came with fries based on the description. Ask questions just to make sure you know what comes with your meal.

Our bill was roughly 25 dollars without tip and only water. Seemed a little high but we left stuffed as can be. We would definitely go back to try some of the other things that sounds and...

Not only are there tacos probably the most authentic, they're they're also the most well-cooked I'd say. Let's say you're from California or Texas and here in Springfield for some reason looking for authentic Mexican. You've already tried Mexican Villa. Now you know our dilemma. Check this place out okay? You won't be disappointed, it's amazing. Now for your Texans, good luck finding decent kolaches, you might have to go back home before you have a good one. But seriously I just had awesome experience here and I wish I could tell you so bad what happened but I no how Springfield is and I feel like if I say exactly what happened, there are going to be people trying to take advantage and I would hate to be the cause of that. Let's just say I told the lady who took my order that there should be more people in the world like her for sure so take that how you want but know that they are more than deserving of your business, the sense of community is alive and well with them and whatever tips you can throw their way. Anyway I don't know what else to say except that I really appreciate the staff, the owners, and their...

What is the disconnect between this location and the original on Sunshine?? I started going to the sunshine location over a year ago and fell in love with it. Staff, food, atmosphere….all outstanding. When the Kimbrough location opened, I can’t express how excited I was because it’s located closer and I love to see good business expanding. That being said……WOW….. the short plump girl who works the front desk is an absolute NIGHTMARE. If this location closes, it’s because of her! The attitude and incompetence towards customers is bar none, the worst in Springfield. I have been to this location probably over 8 times now and without missing a beat, every single time, she is rude, short, and not only someone you don’t want to deal with that works at one of your favorite restaurants, but someone I wouldn’t want to be near even outside of her job. Tonight was the final straw with what happened and how she acted. I will definitely still be enjoying Tacos El Champu, but never again at...

While this spot is a bit pricier than other Mexican restaurants for similar meals, the quality of the food is definitely worth it. I ordered a steak quesadilla and at other restaurants they stuff it, some even give you two tortillas. this one had a thin layer of steak and vegetables. I always leave with leftovers but I did not here. However, we were satisfied and full. One thing to note is that they don’t provide an itemized receipt at the table, which makes it hard to see exactly what you’re being charged for. Our total for came to $47, which included two meals, one soda, and an appetizer. We will try it again to see what the portions are like with other items on the menu.

This is the apex of food truck experiences. Get the caldo de res. Beef soup for a man. Full of shredded brisket in a red broth with onions and cilantro, and fresh tortillas. Get the jarocho with it. A fat beef street taco with cheese, fried on the griddle until crispy, then covered in spicy sauce and sprinkled with queso fresco. Get it "for here" and enjoy it at one of the wooden tables. Do it now. You won't regret it.

These tacos are awesome, especially their Jarocho tacos! We visit here quite frequently and the food is consistently fresh and made to order. Their chicken and Al Pastor tacos are definitely worth mentioning too. Their food truck is always packed - especially on tacos Tuesday. Give them a try, they sure keep us coming back!
