I hate to leave a negative review because the staff that checked me in was super friendly and very patient. I checked in last minute, and the price was incredible! However, you do get what you pay for. The hotel lobby was really nice and like I said, the staff was amazing! The atmosphere of the hallways, however, was very negative.
The first thing I saw on the way to my room, was a random lady walking up and down the hall, jiggling all the door knobs (including mine), and talking to herself. She continued to do that for a lot of the night. I would hear my doorknob jiggle periodically. It made me extremely anxious and I couldn’t get a good nights sleep because of it. Another safety concern was how the bathroom didn’t have a lock on it. And like most hotels, the bathroom was right next to the hallway door. I could hear other people showering if I was in the hallway, so clearly someone could’ve taken advantage of that and broken in while I was showering. It also was not very clean. The shower had hair in it, the curtain was really dirty, they was hair on the clean towels, some of the towels were ripped, they weren’t full size, and there was a heavy odor of bleach. The rest of the room was clean and organized.
However, some of it was updated and some of it was outdated so the environment was kind of weird. The quality of the bed was really poor. The mattress was squeaky, there was no boxspring, the blankets were really thin, the pillows were very small, and the sheets had yellow writing on them and were super itchy. The heating and cooling system was really inconsistent. Not to mention, it was SUPER loud. Every hour it would go from really hot to really cold. My sweat would turn into cold chills. I did not get a good nights sleep at all.
Once again, I hate to leave a negative review but I hope you understand that this is constructed criticism! Updating the furniture, deeper cleaning, and better products / amenities would go a long way. I’d love to stay again and pay a little extra if that...
Read moreI have stayed here several times over the course of the years. I have always enjoyed my stay. It's an efficiency motel with modern clean rooms and location proximity to virtually everything you need in Louisville within a 15 minute drive. The rooms are what you pay for and they're well-taken care of. I stay here because I feel safe, I do not have to pay for parking, and it right by a hospital. Additionally, you're close to the Mall at St. Matthews and other mecca shopping areas.
Generally, I pay $72-$80/night here. Derby time, you're paying $480/night. Be aware that they do jack up the prices when it is derby season. I get it though, when they're in a hot spot for travelers who are willing to pay the fee, it makes sense they would jack up the prices to make some cash. Any other time of year, you're not going to run into that.
I have always had a pleasant experience with the front desk associates. The motel is owned by the same family who runs the front desk, if I am not mistaken.
This is a 3 story motel that requires stairs for the 2nd and 3rd floor. If you need ADA accommodations, they have a first floor that is accessible via the back of the motel. The only downside is that you are not able to access the front of the motel via the first floor without having to go outside and going around if you're wheelchair or handicap bound as the stairs hinder this possibility. They do offer ADA rooms on the first floor.
Breakfast and coffee are NOT served here. However, as mentioned prior, you will have tons of restaurants nearby to get...
Read moreIf you have any other options besides this hotel, I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for a night to sleep. Cost over $100 and the floors are so gross I don't want to take my flip flops off.
The sink wasn't fully cleaned. There is a strong mildew smell in and out of the rooms, especially in the hot, dirty staircases. There is enough mold to cause respiratory problems for me (allergic to mold.) Some hallways were partially blocked by chunks of drywall, chipping paint, and debris (it really didn't look like they were renovating anything.) There is something brown smeared onto the wall near the floor that I'm not inspecting. Everything white has dirty finger prints on it. There were people loitering in the dark outside the building. I have no hand soap. The microwave was still showing the remaining time from the last person who used it. The peep hole is broken and stuffed with a tissue; if a creep wants to push out that tissue, they can see in my room. I'd ask for another room because this one seems like housekeeping never came, but based on the condition of the entire building, I doubt another room would help the situation.
Just stay somewhere else. Even if you stay at a dive motel, at least that's a chance your throat won't close up because of the intensity of the mildew. This place is disgusting. I would expect to pay $45 for a hotel this run down...not the $130 or so that...
