Being a native East Louisville resident, I have enjoyed cuisine from the DuPont W.W. Cousins on Breckinridge lane since the restaurant opened and have recommended the restaurant to countless colleagues and family. After having said all of that, a few days ago, when my family was in town for the Derby, I decided it was time to introduce them to WW Cousins since I have talked the restaurant up for years. I’m deeply saddened and upset, because my family and I experienced such poor service, and I was embarrassed for having taken them there. I will say that I had the worst dining experience and have never received such poor customer service, and disregard for the quality of the food that was served to us. The complaint was made to the cook, cashier and the MANAGER tending to the bakery. The cook disregarded the complaint, the cashier ignored the complaint, and the manager said absolutely nothing when confronted with the complaint. She just stood there and looked bewildered and confused. After that awkward confrontation that was met with total disrespect and complete silence, I just walked away. There was never any more interactions, and my order was never corrected. One problem I had with my order, the smallest problem, was that I did not receive a warm bun. (Which I believed was an easy fix). When I asked the cook to replace my cold bun with a warm bun, he chuckled, turned around and grabbed another cold bun and handed it to me. I’m not the kind of person who complains, but it wasn’t just one problem and it was never even acknowledged, which makes me never want to return to a W.W. Cousins ever again. Unfortunately, my family, which was a party of 10, had to go back home with a terrible experience and impression of your restaurant, WW...
Read moreMy 1st visit-ever. Food very good, got fish sandwich & onion rings. Huge piece of fish & great rings(though could have been a few more onion rings for the price). Friendly staff-greeted with smile & very accommodating. Only 1 real problem-ordered water. Was given what I call the "baby cup". Flimsy clear plastic cup that cracked near the top when my husband took it back to refill( which had to do too often because the "baby cup" is so small) & tried to put a lid on it. When he got back to our table, water was steadily dripping from the small crack at the top of the cup, so he had to make another trip back to front counter & ask for a new cup. I know why they give clear cups- to see that you don't get soft drinks you didn't pay for-understandable. But if you feel you must do that, could you at least invest in a better quality clear cup & larger size? Those of us who drink water need just as big of a cup as other customers. It was nearly 90° yesterday & we need a big cup for plenty of ice & lots of water, not a flimsy baby cup that wouldn't last 5 minutes, even with a child if they squeezed it too hard or pressed down the wrong way while trying to put the lid on. Even our group of seniors couldn't handle that thing carefully enough to get past the 1st refill before we were wiping up water everywhere from the crack in the cup. Just a suggestion on behalf of...
Read moreThis was a favorite for decades, but it has declined dramatically under new ownership in the four or five years.
It was once a great place to get a nice casual meal quickly.
It was better than fast food. A few years ago they offered better quality in a nice atmosphere and fast service, but it's different now.
We were regular customers here for about thirty years, but unfortunately, when it came under new ownership a while back the quality began to decline while the prices increased.
Soups and salads are now gone.
All the delicious baked goods are gone and the bakery appears mostly unused except they still make their own hamburger buns
The delicious ice cream and sweet goodies are gone and the ice cream freezer is empty.
The fries were always fresh, crisp, hot and tasty, but now they're limp, barely warm and taste like they were fried in oil that has been used much too long.
Even the burger meat doesn't taste the same.
For decades this place was always busy and crowded at lunch and dinner hours, but it was nearly empty when we last visited on a Thursday in December, 2022.
Everything changes with time, and for us, it's time to stop patronizing this once favorite restaurant.
