This is my hotel of choice when I travel to Louisville for work. I've probably spent 250 days there in the past three years. My true rating would be 4.6 stars/5. The staff is super friendly. Access to a VERY nice gym that is just across the street is included with your stay. (The gym in the hotel is really lacking- but why bother when there's a better one available?) While the carpet does need to be replaced throughout, (it has been there at least three years and is starting to show some wear in areas) it is always freshly vacuumed and clean. Breakfast there is solid- at Derby time, they go All-Out with their spread. The rest of the year you get a rotation of breakfast foods with both hot and cold options. The rooms are amply sized and the kitchenettes are appropriately stocked for light weight cooking. (No oven, but stove top and pots/pans with a dishwasher.) The beds are very comfortable and clean. Keep in mind you are staying at a long term stay type hotel. If you stay a full week and let housekeeping in every day, I've noticed that it seems they rotate their focus area of the four rooms. They do a full- blown heavy duty cleaning every Sunday. If you need something specific, just tell the desk and they will make sure housekeeping knows. (When a guest checks out, they do completely strip the bed and wash/dry everything and fully clean the room, regardless of the day of the week.) If other guests become disruptive (a lot of youth sports teams stay there) a quick call to the desk puts an end to any noise. I've rarely heard hall noises from the bedroom. (Which has an actual door on it to help reduce any noise bleed from the living room and hallway) The sleeper sofas are hit or miss when it comes to comfort. I'd recommend putting the mattress on the floor if you have adults sleeping there. The water pressure does drop a bit during high-usage hours, but I've always been able to get clean in a reasonable amount of time regardless of which room/floor I am in/on.(You will not receive skin peeling water pressure at any time of the day, but the hot water does get HOT!) Mon-Thurs evenings they do have a social hour with $1 longnecks and typical finger foods from roughly 5-7 pm. The location is solid- with easy access to 264/64 and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Did I mention that they are pet-friendly. Overall, this is a solid hotel to either stay at with the family while you are exploring Louisville or to use as an overnight stop on a...
Read moreCheck in and check out was fine, no issues. Breakfast was wonderful, buffet with bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, eggs, waffles, fruit, toast, yogurt, bagels, toast, and a few extras. We had room 406 assigned to us. The room itself was spacious and set up well. I feel like it could have been cleaned better. The bathroom was clean, with the only issue being the toilet didn't flush properly. The carpeted areas of the room were clean, except around and under the furniture. I used the pullout couch, due to my partner's snoring. It looked as if the bed had not been cleaned. It looked like someone had been eating cereal or crackers on it. I took a few pics of this. In the bedroom, there was a loose wall socket; and my boyfriend got shocked slightly when he plugged in his phone. Lastly, the noise issues. The bathroom fan was very loud, but this wasn't really a issue. The air conditioner fan, was a big issue; sounding like a large car motor running every time it kicked on. The last noise issues were lot's of door slamming and people talking in the morning. These noises started around 6am both days I was there. The second day, it was due to staff cleaning rooms. I don't know why they were cleaning before checkout time. Some of the noises were from guests just being disrespectful. Even when I was raising my children, and had them with me; I tried to be as respectful and quiet as possible. People just don't seem to care these days. It's horrible when you are just wanting to rest. The girl at the desk, seemed to not care about anything. She would rather sit and look at her phone, than lift a finger to assist with anything. You will have to zoom in on the photos, of the mattress to see the crumbs.
Overall, the place is in a quiet area and not many issues with cleanliness. I was more disappointed with the noise than anything. I don't think I would stay again, due to the noise. I thought being on the top floor, would be quieter; but it wasn't. I feel exhausted, instead of...
Read moreMy flight came in on Saturday at 6pm, I got picked up by the shuttle driver. He was pretty prompt from what the front desk ETA told me. I also used him later that night to go into the downtown area, which he was again a really great guy (His name is Lous). I had another great driver (His name was Will) that took me where I needed on Sunday morning.
But when I came back and asked for a shuttle Sunday night the front desk told me his ETA was 10 mins. He took about 40+ mins to get to me. Now I’m a patient guy and I could look that over. But here’s the thing, when I entered the vehicle I always try to break the ice and talk about things. The first thing that came out of his mouth after was “Now how in the world are you here?” He said. “What do you mean? I took a Lyft here. I was told by the front desk that I needed to be within a 3 miles radius”, I said. He started using a condescending tone with me and said, “You need to be in a business area and NOT a residential area!” I told him that the front desk told me just as long as you are in a 3-mile radius I should be fine. Then the driver said, “Well now you know!” (His name is Bob). Needless to say the drive back to the hotel was an awkward silence. Also mind you that the driver on Saturday night picked me up without any problem in the exact same spot. I had a hard time sleeping that night, and whatever sleep I got was terrible.
Conclusion: Why couldn’t the driver just take me back to the hotel and then tell the front desk about their explicit rules. And not bear this down on their costumers during the travel back. I’m also having a hard time giving them 3 stars as I thought the rest of the experiences and stay in the nice...
