I would advise against purchasing anything from this company which is clearly devoid of any sense of ethics and morality. My fiance and I recently purchased a home and were looking for a great mattress. We went to out local Sleepy's and financed the bed for around $2,500. The salesman was ever so excited to boast about the "free" mattress cover worth $200 and free next-day delivery which was worth $99. After about 3 weeks my fiance decided that the mattress was too firm for us and we were interested in exchanging it or returning it. This is were the trouble began. We returned to Sleepy's looking for a replacement mattress. The sales person was trying to sell us a $4,000 Tempurpedic which we actually were interested in and very close to buying. However, it was a lot more than we planned on spending. I told the sales person that my fiance and I would check out a few other mattress stores and come back and purchase the Tempurpedic if we couldn't find a better matrress. She then dropped the bombshell that the mattresses were not able to be returned and all we had to do was simply check the back of our receipt (the one you receive after the sale of course!) to verify. The original salesperson boasted about the exchange policy but mentioned NOTHING of the return policy. That doesn't even include the $250 in mattress disposal and return delivery fees. Upset, we left the store and I called the customer support center only to hear the same exact thing. I explained to the person on the phone that we had 2 more rooms to purchase beds for and that we would possibly buy from them. He stuck with his guns though and refused to work with us. Buy my calculations, their policy and strict adherence to it had just cost them $2,700+ of our business this year alone, not to mention any repeat business in the future. The nightmare only got worse sadly.
We went to another Sleepy's in the area. The person on the phone sent us to the Sleepy's location with the biggest mattress selection in our area about 30 minutes north of us. After browsing the store, we decided that instead of purchasing another mattress at $2,500 we would buy 2 cheaper ones which came out to be about $2,650. I calculated that we should have paid roughly $150 in difference plus the $250 in return fees amounting to a $400 over the original price. We sat down with the salesman to process the exchange. He tells us the difference is $900!!!!!!!!!! I knew this couldn't be right so I went through the first invoice and found that the original salesperson had made an "error". On the invoice, he left the $200 mattress cover and $99 delivery fee and took the $300 off the cost of the mattress. I pointed this out to the salesman and he explained (to his credit, with a very pained expression that acknowledged we were about to get screwed and he couldn't prevent it) that he could not fix the price and more often than not corporate wouldn't allow it either. They wouldn't fix their intentional error. The district manager just so happened to be based out of this location. Livid, I went to him and explained the situation. He said that the original salesperson most likely said that the mattress cover and delivery were "included" in the cost of the mattress. At this point, steam was pouring out of my ears.
The district manager eventually adjusted the price.... after making several phone calls to the Sleepy's gods. The insane part of it is... he couldn't even adjust the invoice to accurately reflect the free mattress cover and delivery. He had to discount the price from the new mattresses we purchased. They did the right thing and made it seem like a favor in true salesman fashion. Please do not support this organization. Clearly, the executives at this company do not care about honesty and integrity. They value the almighty dollar above above all else. Needless to say, I will NEVER EVER buy anything from this...
Read moreThis happened during the summer. I had gone into the Manahawkin Mattress Firm in search for a new mattress, of course. This was my first time mattress shopping and the only two goals I had in mind were as follows: improve my sleeping and cool sleeping. I told the salesman, who’s name I cannot remember, my two goals. He directed me toward a mattress that I ended up buying. In fact, he did not show me any other mattresses in the store aside from this specific type. He ensured me that the mattress was a cooling mattress. It was one of the mattresses that comes in a box and expands once taken out of the box. Well, I was so eager to sleep on my new mattress that I unboxed it as soon as I got home, leading to my issue #1.
When I took the mattress out of the box, I found a large yellow stain on it (resembling urine). I immediately told my mom, as she was there with me for the purchase. She called the store and spoke to the salesman who sold me the mattress and explained that there was a stain on it. He told her something very close to “Well she can sleep on it anyway. We will not take it back.” He was incredibly rude and condescending. That evening, my mom and I drove back to the store and got a new mattress. This one, thankfully, had no stain on it.
Here comes my issue #2. One of the main reasons I chose this mattress was that the salesman ensured me that it was a cooling mattress. Well, when I tell you this was the hottest mattress I have ever slept on, I would not be exaggerating. I had never been so hot in my sleep as I was when I slept on that mattress. I tried to push through it but couldn’t bear it any longer, so back to the store I went. This is where the 4-star review comes in.
A saleswoman, Patty, was glad to help me. She informed me that the mattress that was sold to me was not cooling. She was so understanding of my situation and was rather disappointed with how the original sale had gone down. She walked me around the store, showing me a number of mattresses that fit my goals. Eventually, thanks to her help, I found a mattress. Patty was a great saleswoman and made the third round of my first experience of mattress buying enjoyable! It was delivered to my house with no issues. Patty deserves 5 stars or more! She truly cares customer service and it shows in...
Read moreSo, let me give u everything u need to know about this Mattress Firm and the woman who runs it. Me and my fiance got a new Purple 3 mattress. It was great, up until it broke on the edge and a spring became exposed through the material about 6 months into financing it. Thinking it would be no big deal, since we (supposedly) had a 10 year warranty on it that we were promised when we purchased the mattress. Well, when we contacted customer service, we were met with nothing but ignorance and apathetic customer service that gave us the run around for 2 weeks and hung up on us numerous times over those 2 weeks of trying to get the situation handled. Our patience wearing extremely thin, we decided to go over to the Mattress Firm in Manahawkin and luckily we were greeted by Patty. At first, while explaining our situation, I was very upset and honestly quite rude, but that was simply because at that point we had felt like we were deceived & we were basically at our wits end. We couldn't sleep on the bed with a spring stabbing my fiance in the side every night, and we were basically being forced to pay off a bed that we couldn't sleep in, 7 months into having it. I had an all around bad taste in my mouth when we showed up there, but despite my abrasive attitude, this woman listened to every word we said and went completely above and beyond to help fix the situation, even staying 30 mins past the time the store closed just to get it handled for us. We left feeling so happy and relieved, I could've literally cried tears of joy right there. Patty is seriously the most dedicated, honest, caring woman and she is truly the definition of excellent customer service! If I could rate her 10 stars, I would! If you're reading this Patty, my fiance and I can't thank u enough! U...
