I was exited when I bought my new car from Causeway Nissan in 2020, but after it was one thing after another with causeway Nissans service department. First bad experience was when I was my radio volume button not working properly. After several attempts to fix the problem instead of trying to fix it a third time you would think it should be replaced, but no they wanted to charge me like $1200 to replace radio, when they should of replace it themselves while my car was under warranty, but no they waited until warranty expired then wanted to charge me the 1200. I did not get the radio fixed. The second bad experience was when I had my front brakes done by Causeway Nissan. I was driving In the highway after when I started feel a vibration in my steering wheel. I pulled over to look and see what was going on but didnāt see anything. I started driving again and once again car started vibrating even worse so I pulled off highway to a mechanic shop. I asked someone inside to see what was causing the vibration. The Mechanic said your tire is about to fall off , your missing three lug nuts and in of the lug pins is broken off. I said thatās crazy I just had my brakes done and his response was In 40 years experience he was 100% sure the person who did my brakes didnāt tighten the lug nuts causing my tire to almost fly off the car. while driving this could have caused a serious accident or serious injury to myself or someone else. The third problem was making a service appointment because my check engine light went on. The service department rep. told me to do a diagnostic test it would cost me $185.00. I was like are you kidding to plug something in to take less the 5 mins. And they wanna charge $ 185 wow. Then she mentions it might be covered under an extended warranty on that particular part. In the end it was covered thank god, but to charge someone $185 to plug a small diagnostic in that takes less then 5 mins to find the problem is ridiculous but customers donāt have the right to get a little upset with these outrageous prices dealerships charge, come on. Once they found the problem I had to schedule another appointment after the part had come in. I called and asked if the part had come in on a Thurs. and the woman in the phone said yes we meant to call you, I said no problem and we scheduled an appointment for that following Monday for 8:45. I get to the appointment and Iām being told the part isnāt in yet. I raise my voice a little being Iām upset after being told the part was in and the service department rep. Now is being sarcastic, rude and arrogant. Each time with her smart mouth and pretending to be professional with the attitude anyone could clearly see was getting me even more upset. I told her i was told the part was here and she just fold here well it wasnāt me the parts on its way. I told her I came from Toms River and she then said then why are you why didnāt go some where else, we are not a mom and pop shop. I never experience an in considerate unprofessional person like her. And just my opinion should be fired. I ll never recommend Causeway Nissan to anyone this is a very bad place to buy a car and have work...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNope Nope Nope - Once I signed on the dotted line, I was useless. I was issued a promissory note for the remaining part of my deposit dating 3 months from delivery day. I started to wonder when my plates would come in being that they were due to expire soon. So, I contact my salesman, who couldnāt figure out why my plates werenāt ready ā he even thought, he called to tell me they were. Then suddenly it dawns on him that ānew policyā states all money must be in house before they release the plates. I was never told that they would hold my plates hostage until I paid. What's the point of giving me time to pay if I have to drive my car illegally until I do - seems like a slip of the hand trick. So, I call the NJ Dept of Motor Vehicle and ask, DMV tells me it is illegal. A dealer is allowed 30 days and only 30 to provide motor vehicle plates, no exceptions. I share this with the manager, he says thatās not true (shocking). So needless to say, I was told I could get an extension on my temps by the manager (Tuesday). I call back the next day (Wednesday) for the very extension he promised me and am suddenly told he canāt do it because my plates and registration are complete, so I have no choice but to pay the money or drive on an expired temp. So, I pay (Thursday) and he overnights my plates.
FedEx shows up with my plates, I am excited because I will finally be done. But to my shock and amazement, I am missing my inspection sticker. The girls one job is to submit and send plates, how do you forget that? Now I know you are thinking, well just use the one thatās on the vehicle ā there isnāt one. So, to drive my car with my plates, I need an inspection sticker. So, me rushing to pay my deposit did me no good because I still must drive on an expired temp. I reach out to my salesman again and am basically told that itās no big deal and I should be fine ā ācops shouldnāt pull you over for thatā ā well thanks captain obvious, I thought you were a car salesman, not a law enforcement officer, but you must be undercover. Shockingly enough, once again the dealer is wrong because in the state of NJ your vehicle must be inspected if you have plates on ā and if I get pulled over with an empty windshield, I am pretty sure the cop will notice.
Oh and did I mention that my plates were not done before I paid, it was after. My registration date is the Thursday I paid, not the Wednesday he was supposed to extend me and said he couldnāt because they were done.
and don't get me started on my mom's purchase she bought a Hyundai and somehow has an extended warranty on an altima. And I was told the other day by the salesman - "well you don't think the company is going to take the hit on that and lose money" No Rod my 65 year old mother should take take the hit.
In conclusion, I was blackmailed, lied to and taken advantage of. No wonder they are one of the lowest grossing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was the worst car buying experience I've ever had. The salesman clearly did not know the products, repeatedly giving me misinformation. He also just plain lied to my about financing options. I should have followed my instincts and walked away but unfortunately went ahead and bought a new car. They delivered me a damaged vehicle and it was a struggle to get it properly fixed and I didnt get to drive my new car for a week after I paid for it. When it was finally fixed right after 2 attempts, I went to pick up my brand new car only to find trash in the back seat and all my radio presets programmed to country music...The salesman handed me the key and told me call if i had questions. There was no review of how the functions worked, no set up on the customer portal, nothing. As I drove home, I was stunned to find the car had different options than what the salesman had told me.
I tried reaching out to the floor manager, the Nissan sales manager and even the manager of the Causeway family of dealers but I got no response from any of them.
Then it got worse. They never bothered to call me to tell me my plates were in, so I called them and found out and made an appt to have them put on. The guy who put them on had no idea what he was doing and drilled an unnecessary hole in my bumper. They also completely forgot to put on an inspection sticker. Now I am back trying to get a manager to help me. This time I got the floor manager's attention, but it was not helpful. During our initial discussion, he promised to have someone call me immediately to arrange a repair of the hole. When no one called even the next day, I again tried reaching out to management for help. At this point, he became rude and condesending and refused to answer my questions about the options on my car. He kept pushing me back to inept sales people and bouncing me between them. He actually yelled at me like I was a naughty two year old for trying to get a definitive answer as to the options on the car.
I have bought many new cars from a variety of dealers in my life and have never been treated so badly. I don't know if it is age discrimination or gender discrimination or if they just don't care about any customers once they have your money and their model is to ignore or abuse you til you go away instead of make good on their product. I do know I will never set foot in a Causeway...
