We all know the age-old adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Yet, at the Manahawkin IHOP, it might just become the most enchanting one as well.
From the moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted by the warm, mouth-watering aroma of sizzling bacon, tantalizing coffee, and of course, the famous pancakes, whispering promises of a comforting, hearty meal.
The décor is classic IHOP, making you feel like you've been enveloped in a breakfast-lover's dream, a mix of a Denny's and your grandma's kitchen. The seats are as plush as an over-stuffed pancake, ensuring a comfy perch as you navigate through the epic journey that is the IHOP menu.
Speaking of the menu, it’s a veritable tome of tantalizing choices. Classic buttermilk pancakes, Belgian waffles, and an omelette selection that's more diverse than a United Nations summit meeting. You are not merely ordering a meal here, but embarking on a breakfast safari. My recommendation? The Colorado Omelette, an avalanche of deliciousness that would have you on a protein-packed joyride.
I can't forget to mention the pancakes. Those pancakes. Oh, those pancakes! As fluffy as a cloud and as sweet as a dream, whether you're a traditionalist who likes them plain, or a thrill-seeker who goes for the New York cheesecake pancakes, IHOP has you covered. To add to the joy, their pancake syrups aren’t just accessories; they are co-stars, adding to the ensemble in ways that keep your taste buds asking for an encore.
Service? Swift and upbeat. As sunny as the morning outside, the staff at Manahawkin IHOP adds an extra dollop of warmth to the meal. They swirl around tables like breakfast ninjas, replenishing coffee and taking orders with cheerful demeanor.
But let's not forget the reason for this four-star review instead of five. While IHOP is a maestro at the breakfast symphony, the less breakfast-y items on the menu sometimes hit a flat note. The chicken fried steak can sometimes seem like an afterthought compared to the harmony of the breakfast plates.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Manahawkin with an empty stomach and a craving for breakfast fare no matter what time of the day, IHOP is an oasis of delight waiting to serve you. Whether it's a family brunch, a catch-up with old friends, or just a lazy Sunday, this place is sure to flip your day around just like one of their perfectly...
Read moreThe food was better than it was under the old management however they just don't understand what a clean table is
The first table we were sat at the seat was all wet. I took the napkins and dried it then started to slip in spills on the floor. Under the table was used napkins and straw wrappers. On the table stood 2 carafes. One clean, they other was half full with cold, old coffee from the previous guests.
I asked for a clean table, he said he would wipe it. I explained that the floor was wet and there was a lot of trash under the table. He still did not understand. I asked to he seated at a different table that was clean.
He picked up the menus and the used napkins and took us to another table that wasn't much better. This one was dry but trash under the table and a carafe of old coffee riveled the first table. And he tried to give us the used, wet napkins from the first table.
I asked to speak to a manager and explained the problems. He said the host had learning disabilities, offered us free drinks. But no offer to clean the current mess. I told him about that and he said he would send someone over. He did; a waitress with a rag. I told her she was going to need a broom.
The waitress was not happy to be serving me because I did not want to sit in trash. When I got the check I was charged for our drinks even though I was told I would not be.
After speaking to someone else, the charges for the drinks were removed. At no time did our waitress offer a refill on our coffee or much of anything else.
I left her a 20% tip in cash but usually give breakfast servers more.
I don't expect a lot from IHOP but I do expect a clean table.
The napkins on the floor in the picture stayed there after waiters, managers and othe staff all...
Read moreMy daughter and I (also my two grandkids) went there on Friday, July 29, 2022 around 5:30 pm. It was not busy , we waited a long time for our waitress to come take our order. We finally ordered, waited about 30 minutes. My grandkids were served first, then my hamburger came , but our waitress told us the chef had forgotten my daughters order, and he was making it now. It comes out 20 minutes later and it was all wrong! The eggs had no cheese, the bacon was not cooked well and the hash browns were burnt! She was so disgusted she did not even eat any of it. Our poor waitress was the only one slowly running around to take orders from the tables. There was another woman walking around (not in uniform) on her cell phone the whole time we were seated laughing and ignoring the state of chaos the restaurant was in!! Our waitress told us it was her “shift manager”, and everyone there had just been hired, but never trained. Customers were complaining and our waitress was so stressed out she started yelling at the chef for messing up all the orders, while her manager was in the back section of the restaurant on her phone laughing! I don’t know what so called “new management”this location now has, but in the almost 25 years I’ve lived in Manahawkin never have I had a more despicable scenario like the one that day!! Shame on you !! I also have been in the restaurant business many years, and you don’t have the adequate, knowledgeable staff or management to run that shift keep the restaurant closed to avoid losing...
