Tuesday, 7/2/2023, 11:50a.m. My dog's groomer's father died July 10th and she's been out of town ever since. I have a labradoodle and she needed some sort of trim, so I went to PetSmart's website to find a Wahl clipper. The product locator said it was in stock at the Burbank store.
When I arrived to the isle there were tickets to retrieve the products; however, there wasn't one for the Walh Color Groom Pet grooming kit. I went to the cashier and asked if he could call someone who could help.
I explained to Maribel, the manager, that according to PetSmart's website product locator, this store had it in stock and asked if she would look to see if they had one. She returned with two other Wahl clippers substantially higher. I explained that I couldn't afford those. Maribel stated the website isn't accurate, that if the ticket isn't there, they don't have it. I asked how, according to the website, that all the PetSmart stores I passed to drive this far the website stated they didn't have one, yet the Burbank store is supposed to have one but doesn't? I showed Maribel how it still states it's in stock. Feeling frustrated, I told her I write reviews and write corporations and asked for her name and capacity, followed by other leadership individuals. She asked if I would like to speak to Jamie, the Store Leader. I said fine.
From the moment Jamie walked up to me she was hostile! She said, "I understand that you're angry that you drove all this way, but we don't have that product, you should have called...AND we only give first names!" I asked why she was hostile and she said I treated Maribel rudely. I was flabbergasted! I asked Jamie if she could explain how she got to that conclusion and she said she can tell that I'm mad. I asked what about my demeanor is making her assume I was upset. I told her that I write reviews and I write to corporations and that my concerns was with the inaccurate website that had me drive all this way. My review is about the website; however, now it's going to be about Jamie the rude Store Leader as well. How rude! I shared that there was nothing in my tone, voice level, or facial expression that implied that I was angry or mad but somehow, between Maribel leaving me and your arrival this has become more of a problem.
The clerk was helpful, Maribel was helpful and even asked if I would like to speak to Jamie. I regret that I had a conversation with Jamie, she left an awful feeling with me, so much so that I emptied my shopping cart and spent 20 minutes in the parking lot writing this!
Jamie, the Slore Leader shouldn't even be in a position of leadership. She never apologized for my inconvenience and was rude! It didn't matter to her that approximately $200 in sales walked...

On 8/4/2023, I took my Yorkie to this location for a haircut and bath. After picking her up, I noticed that she was becoming increasingly uncomfortable and anxious. Her eye started to gradually close. I gave them a call to find out what potentially could have happened during her appointment as this was not normal and according to two employees, both a groomer and the store manager on duty, the dogs are given some eyewash before & after their bath. Now, I had never heard of them doing this before— I asked if I could see the policy and a list of the procedures administered during the groomer process and that question was completely ignored. I also wanted to see if I had consented to this part of the process on the form that you have to sign prior to completing drop off.
After confirming “what happened” with the employees, I rushed my baby to the emergency vet. I relayed the story given to me by the groomer and the store manger to the veterinarian working with us and she too said that she’s never heard of a groomers rinsing dogs eyes with a wash and that this was something very abnormal and that it absolutely shouldn’t be occurring. After further examination, through a process called eye staining, the vet said something had completely injured my dog’s cornea and that the injury would take 7-10 days to heal.
I now have to give my dog antibiotics every 4-6 hrs and pain medicine every 12 hrs. She also has to wear a cone! She is in a lot of pain and will not move around the house. It really hurts me to see her like this..
I was told that I would receive a call from the salon leader and store leader today and have yet...
Read moreI have mix feelings about this place but overall a great corporate place. Here's how I will brake up my experiences. The store prices are way over price. I will rather order online and get it much cheaper plus free shipping from other chains(right to the steps of my door). What's great is that they have different services and that they accept "walk-ins" not really but they will try. In my experiences is just better to do an appointment. The groomers are pleasant ladies that do a good job with your little babies. I haven't had a bad experience but from time to time ladies don't seem happy to be there?!?!?... I will say, my baby looked clean. They also have a clinic although, the name has the word hospital is not really a hospital is more a clinic. The word hospital is a little to loose in the pet clinics and I believe the advocates for animals should start doing something about this misuse of word. They only open for a few hours and than they close and don't open on Sunday. Good luck finding a good pet hospital for emergency. They provide you with a hospital all the way to Orland Park but in my experience I wouldn't recommended. If I was PetSmart, I would just stop recommending this bad place. The vets do seem to have some knowledge and do try helping but aren't very engaged as you will probably be with a more private clinic. In my overall experience I will never bring my babies to another corporate establishment as they are limited to a real life emergency experience. I will rather go with a private community place that are open for emergency for their customers. Make sure you do your research before going to petsmart or any other corporate company because you will be just one more number to...
