Prior to today, I did not expect much from local hotels. I guess I will say that it has been some time since I stayed in a local hotel and my experience is so unequivocally different, only in a good way, then my past experiences, it kind of blew my mind. The staff made everything easy, fun and exciting. This is not an all inclusive Tahitian resort, but it is a place to treat yourself, or to stay while visiting.
I'm not sure if it is the fact that Hilton acquired Hampton Inn & Suites or what, but if you want nice accommodations, modern accommodations that are actually accommodating, lol, this place is beyond fantastic.
In my case, the goal was to help my son have a little fun, decompress and unwind in a safe, warm and friendly environment. Mission accomplished, thank you Hilton, thank you Hampton Inn division, and thank you very much to the very fine staff and management here; You made an excellent impression with myself and my son, and for that I cannot thank you enough.
Don't waste your time looking at other places, if you read this review, I would never commit such things to a review if they were not the epitome of truth because comfort, safety, excitement, relaxation and a little bit of a shameless luxury is not a bad thing, but it is most certainly something that I take very very seriously and you should too.
Also, I don't know what/why it is, but literally all the OTHER hotels ANYWHERE NEAR our area SUCK, and this Hampton Inn in Stow, Ohio is the best BY FAR, BAR NONE, etc.
Even the desk clerk in training was a beyond refreshing and incredibly kind person; it's amazing how wonderful things can be when the employees genuinely enjoy their job and clearly prioritize their guests' comfort, privacy and overall enjoyment of their stay.
P.S., did I mention that the hotel is within a 1 minute and 47 second jog to Texas Roadhouse, enough said, don't waste your money elsewhere, this place makes their competition look silly by comparison. I am SO HAPPY that we have a legitimate, world-class 4+ star hotel RIGHT in...
Read moreCheck-in: I checked in that morning using the app and selected my room. Had car trouble on the way and I didn't get there until around 9pm. Lucky to find somebody working the front desk, because it became apparent that the station is not always staffed. He told me that the room I had selected was no longer available, and he could offer me a different (more expensive) room because they had sold everything else out. Not sure why checking in with the app and selecting a room is even offered if they won't hold the room for you. ||Room: pretty good, clean. HVAC worked well. The smoke detector was making crackling noises by the third night. I doubted that anything could be done about it after hours. ||Security: Traveling alone, I felt a bit vulnerable when I left the hotel in the dark at 5:45 am. Nobody at front desk, front doors open to whomever strolls by. There was a person wandering around the parking lot the day prior, staring at me, changing course towards me when I got out of my car, nobody else around. I wish I felt more secure. Traveling alone sucks.||Sleep: I do not sleep well away from home, ever. But I will say that other than the lack of courtesy from the other guests making noise (as expected) , the place was very quiet. Zero road noise, which is rare for places like these that are always attached to a highway.||Breakfast: egg discs, tough Canadian bacon, waffle station, oatmeal, very green inedible bananas, little cereal boxes, little containers of "lite" yogurt with artificial sweetener. Coffee tasted like soap one day. ||Area: Pretty quiet, close to Cascade auto dealerships, which was great help to me and my car for an emergency repair. Close to Cuyahoga Valley NP. Texas Roadhouse next door with a 10% discount for guests. Many people in the area post political yard signs which always looks classy, but I guess you can't get away from...
Read moreThis is the first time I have ever considered staying outside of the Hilton brand because of the service I received and I'm a Diamond member, so you know I use this frequently. I was in town to visit my son at school and generally stay here for the convenience of the location. I will NOT be back. I walk into the hotel and there isn't anyone at the desk. It doesn't take long for a young man to come around from the back, but he doesn't even look me in the face or greet me, but proceeds to the computer and says 'name'. I give him my name, we go through the process to the credit card. My card was declined, because the one on file had just expired. I didn't have that one on me, so I went to put another card in the reader and he held out his hand, rolled his eyes and said 'I'll have to enter it myself' and just takes my card. He finishes, gets the room keys, hands them to me and says, 'here'. That's it. Not once did he smile, say please/thank you, greet me, ask if I had any questions, give any info on the hotel, or give the items that are normally included if you are a Honors member. I walked away and my husband said,'Was that for real?'
This was the second Hampton in the area we had been to and after a 3.5 hour drive, so we stayed, but I've never had this bad of customer service.
The room...it was literally 85 degrees when we walked in because the heat was on. The A/C didn't work consistently and was very loud. The room had an odor to it like there had been wayer damage. I didn't get any sleep. If my trip was longer than 1 night, I would have found another place.
I would not recommend either Hampton in this area. The Kent/Akron location was worse.
I will be contacting corporate, but fair warning to anyone looking...
