I am a Platinum Elite and stay at various Marriott's around the world. I booked this one due to its proximity to an event I was attending. I checked in over a day early on the mobile app. We I arrived, I was given a regular room (as opposed to upgraded), and when I got to the room, it smelled heavily of smoke. Then I used the toilet, and when I flushed, it wouldn't quit running (never did stop). There were also bobbi pins from the last guest on the floor, so I don't think the room had been properly cleaned. Finally, we turned on the TV, and it was completely broken - no TV. So, I called and asked for a room change. The person at the desk was exceptionally polite, got us switched to a room very close to us (just a couple doors down), and brought the keys up within minutes, so he handled the situation well. The room we were moved to was an upgraded room, and everything was good in that room, so we had a good stay.
Two big points of feedback though: I should have been given that upgraded room when I arrived. I am Platinum Elite, and I am supposed to receive a complimentary upgrade if there is a room available when I arrive. I log almost 100 nights per year in Marriott hotels, and that is supposed to come with benefits, so to have them ignored is very disappointing. The experience, in fact, has me looking at other loyalty programs to see if any would be better than Marriott's. No one - not even a non-Platinum guest - should ever have been given a room in the state my initial room was in. It was not only dirty (disgusting) but non-functional. That is not acceptable and is not up to par with the brand standards of a hotel chain to which I want to...
Read moreWe booked a room for three adults. My wife, myself and our adult daughter. We were looking for two queen beds but options were only King or two doubles. We booked online from our cell phone as this was an "on-the-way" stop. Drive until we get tired and find a place to sleep before continuing. The booking was easy and although it was less than 1/2 hour, the Fairfield Inn manager had it on the system. (I would expect that but sometimes computers don't always hook up correctly.) We ended up with a minor ant issue in the bathroom. Looked like some sugar may have spilled and not been fully mopped up. The manager moved us to a new room immediately. As we settled into the room, we found that the cable signal was dropping out. The manager, Brittany, was able to call another manager at a sister inn that supplied us with an attenuator that cleaned up the cable signal. Both of our issues were minor but were handled with a high priority. The breakfast was a hot breakfast including eggs, sausage and hot waffles. Also there were cold options like cereal and muffins. The sheets and towels were in good shape with plenty of pillows. My wife an daughter also used the fitness center to workout the stiffness of driving in the car. It was small but had enough equipment for 3-4 people. Issues come up all the time in the hotel business, I couldn't give them Excellent because of that, but the recovery from these issues shows an Excellent effort. If I was coming through Streetsboro again, I would pick this...
Read moreThe walls are paper thin. Worst room noise I have ever experienced at a Marriott. My daughter and I could hear every word the people next door were saying! There was also highway noise and the air conditioner going off and on made a loud noise. My daughter and I stayed here two nights during her orientation weekend for Kent State. Warning if you share Marriott points with your husband. The points account is in his name, but we both have Marriott credit cards. On occasion if he is not with us the front desk will ask to speak to my husband to confirm I’m on his account. No problem, but this hotel front desk said they couldn’t speak to him and said he had to call Marriott Bonvoy main number to have me added to the reservation. He goes to call the number and they didn’t even know what he was talking about until another person got on the phone. Finally after waiting in the lobby with all our stuff at 9:30 at night they got us added to the reservation so we could check in. I literally have the same exact Marriott credit card with my name on it and the same last name. I have the Marriott app on my phone with our confirmation number. This happened to the lady that was before us too and a lady after us luckily had her husband in the car, but he was handicapped and the hotel made him go in to check in. We will be staying in the area often for at least the next 4 years,...
