UGH!! Another SEVERELY understaffed restaurant. So understaffed that patrons have to wait outside or in the front while more than half the restaurant booths remain empty. That's right. Only a small section on the dining room and the bar area was actually being utilized due to lack of wait staff while patrons waited 45 minutes or longer to be seated. This was during the week at 11 am. And there was only 1 cook. I found this information unbelievable as this is an egg and waffle establishment that a 5th grade home economics class could execute. And where was the owner??? The manager?? If your staff is overwhelmed in-house then for God sake! shutdown the pickup service and the to-go orders. Pick a lane for your business and employees because those wait staff are not making tip money off those DoorDash orders!!! We waited so long for our simple fair to come, 2 hours from the time we put our name on the list until the time we bolted out the door, that we ended taking our food to go due to another pressing engagement. About the food- I got the Salmon Benedict. I don't like cold eggs in a to go cup, so yeah, that was bad. But I plopped them over my salmon on the bagel any way and chowed down while in my car. The bagel was cold but fresh, the eggs were cold, but there was a huge amount of very fresh tasty salmon and for that I was grateful. That was immediately squashed when I took a mouthful of Southern potatoes that was served with my order. GOOD LORD!!! What did I just put into my mouth!? BLAH!! I have not been so stunned by such a bad side since, well, I cannot remember when. I actually felt traumatized. I know this is long and I didn't even tell you about the host. The term postal comes to mind. He seemed pleasant enough. Yet everything he touched, he slammed on the host station. The menus. The silverware box. The menus again and again! Slam, slam, slam!!! I really should have had that Bloody...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I came here for breakfast after I got a biopsy done. I ordered the crab eggs Benedict and he got the chicken and waffles. One of the star components of a good eggs Benedict is a perfectly poached egg. My egg was so overcooked. Ive never had a solid poached egg before. It was comically bad. The other main component is a good hollandaise. This was a chorizo infused one (I think?). Whatever it was, it needed more salt and more acid. At least it wasn't from a box of knorr powder though. The waffle texture was strange but that could just be bc it's a different recipe than Im used to. My grits, which I wouldn't have upgraded if Id known how expensive it was going to be for a quarter slice of bacon and some badly chopped scallions to be mixed in, we're meh at best. I assumed there was an upcharge but didn't think it was going to be that much of one. The star of the meal were the biscuit beignets. They were more savory and dense than a real beigents but tasted yummy.
Overall, definitely not worth almost 50 bucks. I had been wanting to check it out since it opened. Glad I did but I won't be back.
The server, Fiona, was decent and friendly. No complaints there. To be fair to her and the restaurant, I didn't complain about my food. That's bc I figure if they can't poach an egg correctly with only 3 tables (2 tops) they probably can't in general so why wait for food that I'm probably not gonna eat anyways. So that...
Read more1st bloody mary: overly salty and smokey? I sent it back after two sips because it tasted honestly disgusting. Then the manager decided to come to my table while I was eating and scolded me and told me I should stick to tomato juice if I don't like spicy things (spicy was not my issue)
This was removed from my bill which I appreciated but I could have done without being lectured and talked down to like a child
2nd blueberry lemon goat cheese pancakes Fluffy and yummy pancakes 👍🏻 but not nearly enough toppings to pancake ratio, i shouldn't have to ration my topping so I don't have to eat plain pancakes, lemon was basically not there, if it was I couldn't taste it
3rd cinnamon roll french toast, cinnamon rolls squished down so much they were basically hard flat discs. Tasted good but unpleasant texture
4th breakfast sausage overly seasoned, weird hard bits of gristle or something that I couldn't even bite through. They were like little pebbles in already dry smashed sausage
5th while paying my check the manager walked very close to the tiny table I was sat at and loudly complained about customers. "These people are so annoying they really need to learn to read the menu" I understand being frustrated and the stress of working at a busy restaurant but its plain unprofessional and trashy to insult customers in front of them.
My server was very nice and did a good job so that was good but that...
