Stayed here on our way back from MD Anderson in Houston. I cannot believe that this hotel has gotten any good reviews. When we walked in, we noticed a heavy musty odor and the carpet was atrocious. Dirty, stained, edges frayed. In general, the hotel wasn't just dated, it needed major cleaning, repairs and attention. Our room had the same gross carpet in worse condition and most all the tile in the room was very badly broken. Furniture was stained and dirty. The beds did seem to be clean. I tore them apart looking for bed bugs and signs of uncleanliness. We did go to the front desk and request a different room. And the one they showed us was worse! The front desk person said they had had some rooms that were refurbished, but she didn't know which ones they were. We went ahead and decided to stay and bring the bare necessities into the room with us. It was late and I was tired from having tests at the hospital earlier. I just made sure that I always had my sneakers on when I walked across the carpet and didn't touch anything except for the bed that I had previously inspected. Anything I laid down,.I put a towel under, hoping that the towel was clean. We took some sleep aids, and I was able to sleep, But as soon as we woke up, we just brushed our teeth, put our clothes on and left. I was so glad to get out of there. The lady at the front desk said that they were expecting to completely remodel in the future and hope we would give them a chance again. But I just can't get past our experience this time. There's no way I would ever go back. We've stayed at other Hampton Inns, and they've been really good. We stay a lot at the one in Springfield, Missouri, and it is fabulous, super clean, and just exactly the opposite of this one in...
Read moreIf you're looking for a nice place to stay while in Sulphur Springs, you've found it. We stayed in a Double Queen room and, while not as spacious as some, for the four of us it served its purpose for the night we were there. The room was very clean, as was the hotel itself. Our room had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, large flat screen tv, desk w/chair, full length mirror and free wifi. We noticed that we couldn't hear people or noise from other TV's through the walls which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was very nice and helpful. The guy working the night shift was very nice. He knew we were going to be buying some water from the little convenience store in the hotel when we got back from eating and, without us even asking, he had put some in the freezer so it would be cold when we got back. He also helped me with three different TV remotes, without complaint, when we were having trouble with them not working. We had come in to town for a funeral, and the lady at the front desk the next morning was kind enough to let us check out one hour later than their policy so we wouldn't have to find a place to go to for this extra hour we had. We really appreciated both of them being so kind. The hotel also offers a free breakfast buffet, with a nice selection of different foods, so we all found something that we liked. I can't speak to the cleanliness of the pool, hot tub and fitness center, as we were not there for pleasure, but I would be surprised if it wasn't clean based on the rest of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in...
Read moreWe have stayed at this Hampton Inn for many years when we come in to visit family. We've always found it to be clean and inviting -- until this month. Our stay on May 3, 2024 was a nightmare. The bathroom sink backed up with sewage early the next morning as we were getting up to start our day about 6:00. I called for maintenance and was told they wouldn't be in till later. Two housekeeping women came up (we were on the second floor!) to clean out the sink. We tried to dress in a hurry and get out of the room. But when we arrived in the dining room to have breakfast, we were dumbfounded to see a young woman with a dog in the dining room. The dog was sitting in his own chair facing the table where he had his own plate of food. "Dog Friendly" does not describe the hotel. It's a kennel where dog people can eat breakfast with their animals. It was disgusting. We left. I called back later to explain why we were so dissatisfied with our stay. The manager said it was a corporate decision to be "dog friendly" and that the sewage does back up from time to time in the hotel. It's not their fault. She said it's the city's fault. I don't care whose fault it is, but I do know raw sewage in a hotel sink is not acceptable. And having dogs in the dining room is equally unappetizing. That was our LAST visit to the Hampton Inn in...
