I am not normally a person who writes reviews, positive or negative, but I feel like the ownership/management at this location would want to know what I experienced when my family and I stopped for lunch yesterday. As we were seated my wife asked our Hostess if we could please get a high chair for our 15 month old son. The high chair never showed up. Ok, she forgot. No big deal. When our waitress came to take our drink order I asked her for a high chair. The waitress brought our drinks and then started serving other tables and once again the high chair never showed up. At this point I just got up and found a high chair, cleaned it off, and took it to our table myself. No big deal if this is where the issues ended. After ordering our waitress just kind of disappeared and did not come by to check on our drinks until "our" food was ready. Well I say "our" food because the waitress came out, after waiting for our food for close to 30 minutes to tell me that they were out of what I ordered. I don't mind restaurants being out of food, it happens, but how could it slip through the cracks to the point where the rest of my family's food was ready when they discovered that they were out of what I ordered? But that is not where it ended. I went ahead and ordered a hamburger and fries because I figured that would be something fairly quick for them to make and the waitress brought my family's food out. My son and my daughter ordered the same meal and the cook did not include everything on my daughter's meal that they were supposed to. At this point we just let that go because it, on its own, wasn't a huge deal. My family ate their meal while I sat there another 20 minutes waiting for my food. At this point we had been there nearly an hour, my family was done with their food, and I was still waiting on mine. The waitress finally brought out the hamburger that I had ordered but said that they did not have my fries done so she would bring them out after they were done. Wow, this really confused me because the original meal that I had ordered had fries included on it. How could we have gone an hour of waiting on 2 orders that included fries without having fries done? At this point I just asked the waitress to box up my lunch after the fries were done because my family was done eating and my 15 month old had been sitting in a high chair for over an hour at this point. I took my 15 month old outside to stretch his legs while my wife waited for my food and paid the check. I then had to wait an hour to eat my lunch after we got home. So again, I am not usually one to complain but to sum it up here is what I experienced. Hostess didn't get high chair, waitress didn't get high chair, I had to get high chair, waitress didn't fill our drinks up, I was informed that they didn't have my food 20 minutes after I ordered, my daughter's food wasn't right, my burger finally came out about an hour into the meal without my fries, I had to take my lunch home and eat a cold, soggy burger because of the multilayered incompetence of the workers at the Sulphur Springs IHOP. I could somewhat understand if they were really busy but half of the restaurant was empty. After all of this we left without even having my plate comped by the restaurant. It wouldn't have fixed all of the issues but it would have at least been a nice gesture of recognition that they completely dropped the ball on this visit. I am not saying do not eat at this IHOP because people need jobs. I am saying that if you are the owner/manager of this restaurant you need to strongly consider a lot of training and consistent follow ups so that your restaurant does not go under. I am saying this because as I was standing outside with my son another couple got up and left because they had to wait too long to get service telling me that my experience was not an...
Read moreMy buddy's and I were passing through back on Sunday, May 16th. On our way home and hungry, we decided out of ALL the open and available places to stop to eat a good meal on a Sunday afternoon in Sulphur Springs, TX was hands down IHOP y'all. Duh. So we walk in out of the pouring rain, after parking on the North side of the establishment. That information will be key here shortly. We notice right away...this may not have been the best decision after all. With all those other options available to us on a Sunday mid-afternoon in Sulphur Springs, TX to sit down and eat a nice meal, could it be we just picked the wrong option? In that moment, we each knew it was poasible. So after waiting a few minutes, time enough to piss AND wash our hands, we seat ourselves. On the North side of the said establishment. With folks scattered here and yonder across the establishment, some fixing to leave while others were recently sat. I think that is right. Sat...recently sat? Anwyway, I digress. Noticing all this, we chose to wait. And we waited. We smiled at the waitress who walked by us. Moments later we smiled at another who walked by. She was not as close to us as the previous waitress, but she looked our way and smiled. I thought that was nice of her. Point is, no one was showing us attention. We had time enough to look at the menus that we brought with us to help even make our order easier once it happened. But it did not happen. I cannot speak for my buddy's, but that made me sad. I was really looking forward to their blueberry pancake breakfast combo with scrambled eggs with cheeae, bacon extra crispy and hashbrowns extra crispy. You know what I mean? The straw that broke the camels back was when a group was sat down not too far from us after us and received service. No fault of theirs at all. That's what they came for and they got it. Kuddos y'all! And so here is where sitting in a booth on the north side of the restaurant helped us. See, throughout all this waiting we noticed out the window through the pouring rain this establishment called Juan Pablos. After giving IHOP enough time to notice us and serve us, we left and joined all the kind folks over at Juan Pablos. Their service was spot on and the food hit the spot! My friends and I understand that workers are hard to come by these days in the restaurant industry. We have seen it at other places as well. And this post is not meant to speak ill of IHOP because 10lb 8oz baby Jesus knows damn well I love me some IHOP. It is meant to bring light to a problem that can be fixed in such a way that hopefully is positive and leaves those reading this smiling. But if not, Juan Pablos is right out the...
Read moreWhen we arrived there was only one other table there with an older gentleman by himself, and my family of 5. The entire staff was in a side room visible from the main room, being loud ,and doing what look like makeup videos on people coming in the door (not customers). It appears that someone was running a side business in the building while on the clock. They had a ring light and everything set up for this. I even witnessed money being given for services rendered.
As off-putting as all of this was I was willing to overlook it since it was mother's day and I wanted to have a quiet meal with my family.
The wait for our food was not too long given that we had 5 people. When they brought my and my fiancee's pancakes (wt ch raspberry pan cakes, and a strawberry cheesecake waffle) they were just about plain and dry. Barely any toppings on them at all. We sent them back and had them try again. They managed to get it right the second time around. I was going to set 5 ⭐ for the food before this happened.
Our wiatress' boyfriend was in the building. They had a small argument during this he stormed out the front door, and she proceeded to the back cussing. This all in full view of my family. It was so unprofessional I check my pancakes before eating them, and was hesitant to give the waitress my card. After giving her my card she rang me up and walked to her boyfriend playing around for a second WHILE HOLDING MY DEBIT CARD! We live in a world we're everyone has a camera in their pocket. It takes 2 seconds to get pics of any info you would need from a CC. This is all unacceptable.
I am not sure who owns this place, but they have obviously given up on the business if they are allowing it to be ran this way. If they would like to see all of this first hand they are more than welcome to check the cameras for tonight (5-11-24) between 6:40 - 7:30pm. I come here often despite seeing the service slack, but tonight was a deal breaker, I will no longer be back, and I will recommend Metro Diner if people are looking for a good breakfast. Stay far away from this place until the owners can get the...
