Yesterday was the worse experience of my entire life. After driving all night 15 hours to arrive at the funeral for a dear friend with my family of 5 children and an infant. My family and I were trying to get 3 rooms at the Quality Inn Surfside Myrtle Beach located at 1201 Hway 17 north. I called on the phone and inquired about getting the rooms and then drove over to the establishment. Upon reaching the hotel I met with a Caucasian male who was the receptionist. Slim with dark Sandy color hair. He also had a raspy voice. I noticed I was being charged more than what the website charges. So I then apologized several times for the mishap. The gentleman started complaining about this is too much work for him to make the changes. He said now I have to call my manager to handle this. So I said well call your manager because I still wanted to get the rooms for the price that showed on the website. than I proceeded to make the reservations on the website .I apologized numerous times for the mishap. I asked him why was he being so rude. He said (quote) because we were making him do too much work and that this was too much for him. I asked him aren’t you still on the clock? you’re at work right? He replied (quote) I don’t have to give you anything and you can just get out! I asked him for his name and also for the managers name and He then asked us to leave, He threatened to call the police, Which he did.. I asked him for my documents that I had given him. At that time I was standing directly in front of him. He tossed my docs to another counter to the right of me instead of returning it directly to me. His behavior was very rude, disrespectful and obnoxious. He said to us (quote)When the police come I bet you’re going to leave, Watch! The police officer came in and he proceeded to tell the officer that we were giving him problems and he lied and said that we threatened him and that he wanted us out of his establishment. We asked the officer to review the camera. The officer told him to ask them to leave. He did. The officer who also would not give his name nor badge number. said (quote) Now he asked you to leave and if you don’t, I will arrest you for trespassing. I have never experienced anything like this in my entire life .This incident took place in front of my family. I was racially profiled and I have never felt like this before nor have I ever experienced anything like this before. I have stayed at many hotels throughout the state and in different countries and I have never been through anything like this before. My family and I was traumatized and all I wanted to do was drive all the way back home. However of course that was not being realistic after all that driving, I have reached out to corporate and I have filed an official complaint and I hope no one NEVER experiences what my family and I experienced. Devastating trip and experience. The gentleman in question description is a slim Caucasian male with dark blonde short haircut and he has a...
Read moreI arrived at the inn to find out they had no record of my reservation, despite booking through Expedia. After multiple calls with Expedia, and their refusing to book a similar room and compensate for my lost time and frustration, they told me they would issue a refund and add 30 bucks to my account to rebook. I agreed out of tiredness and added a day to the reservation since we had already lost 2 hours. However, due to an issue with Expedia’s system not letting me book the same night although being selected, the booking ended up being for the following night and the night after, instead of the night I actually needed.
Once again, after several frustrating calls, neither Expedia nor the hotel was willing to resolve the issue without charging a fee. The hotel manager and the front desk staff were uncooperative and frankly showed no empathy. As a result, I had no choice but to sleep in my car that night.
When we finally checked in the next day, things did not improve. I went to take a shower and found the shampoo bottle completely empty. I went down to the front desk with wet hair and was given a single 90ml bottle after some reluctance. Since we have long hair, this clearly wasn’t enough. The front desk staff eventually brought another one, but not without making it clear they weren’t happy about it.
I also reported a full dehumidifier, stains on the bed sheets, hair on all the towels, and nearly empty toilet paper. Nothing was done. I requested room service the following day and repeated all of these issues, expecting them to be addressed while we were out. When we returned, none of the problems had been fixed. The bed was tidied, but the same stained sheets were still there, the towels remained unchanged, the shampoo was still empty, the toilet paper still almost gone, and the dehumidifier still full.
When I brought this up again, the front desk staff member told me bluntly that I should empty the dehumidifier myself. This is a large machine that was already full when we arrived. He also said they hadn’t restocked toilet paper or shampoo because they were out of it, and told me to go to the CVS down the street. He added that "everyone brings their own shampoo" anyway. That is simply not true in my experience, even at lower-end motels.
After I insisted for several minutes, he eventually located a small bottle of shampoo—but again, with visible annoyance. The shampoo itself was very low quality. I ended up emptying the dehumidifier myself, only to find it was full of mold.
This experience was beyond unacceptable. The breakfast was terrible. The room was not clean, the amenities were not stocked, and the staff was unhelpful and dismissive at every step. I have no idea how this hotel is rated 4 stars on Google or 8/10 on Expedia. Based on my experience, those ratings are completely misleading.
I will not be booking with this hotel and quality inn brand again, nor will I use Expedia for future travel. I strongly recommend...
Read moreThis was a horrible stay. I’ve used Quality inn before for work in other areas and have never in my life dealt with these problems. Breakfast was very disappointing considering at the replaces they offer actual hot food and the only hot food they had to offer was the waffles. We booked with hotel.com and was charged again when arriving. The lady told me it was for a security deposit and I was actually charged $258 dollars. I paid $358 through hotel.com and had my receipt already! We waited until she left because she was not trying to help us out with refunded the $258. So the man came in for night shift and was very rude! Finally after a whole day we was able to catch the manager. (The younger girl at the front desk told us the manager just goes and leaves as she please and don’t know when she’d be back and the male said she’d be back “in a few”) he was extremely rude and almost like sarcastic about this situation because we paid twice for a two nights. Says he couldn’t do anything about it because it’s a third party! The manager did finally give us a refund for the $258 once we made a fuss about the situation and had proof of everything! But the worst of it all on our last night stay we came back from the beach it’s 11:15 pm a family of seven (5 small children) was at the front clearly upset. Same guy at the front desk was taking care of them. The family lived over 10 hours away from Myrtle beach and quality inn sold their room after they booked a room with them through Expedia and claimed nothing he can do with the 3rd party stuff! Then he called the police on the family! The family was not rude at all and was really nice people. I’m genuinely disappointed in the staff they have here at this quality inn I will absolutely never stay here again and will make sure to tell anyone who comes here to visit to avoid this place at all costs. Head quarters needs to get involved into this place and...
