I have given this Waffle House plenty of chances! After moving here in April I was initially excited about a Waffle House being so close. I usually eat between 0630 and 0700. This morning I entered at 0645 and sat down. When I entered the restaurant a waitress as she is going to the back said welcome to Waffle House, so I was greeted. I am sitting right outside the office and all of the staff are in the back talking except for a dishwasher and a lazy old waitress that needs to retire.. She never speaks to me and stays on the other side of the restaurant. If she smiled her face would crack. I noticed she is the same with most of the customers. She has short gray hair and wears a cap. I'm not being rude it just is the truth. I sat there for 7 minutes and no one came out of the back.I stood up and the waitress saw that I was getting ready to leave and was talking to the greeter and she said, they will be right with you. I said that's OK. I only live 3 minutes from the Surfside store but I will not return. I have been driving to the Murrells Inlet store where I encounter much better service. I owned a restaurant many years ago and customer service was always my #1 priority. When the tall guy that appears to be the manager is working, things run much smoother. The corporate office needs to send some secret shoppers in there to eat. They will find the same issues...
Read moreLate night/ early morning so thankful for waffle House! Food was great as always, order placed quickly food was served quickly and was good and hot. Service was attentive to my needs and kept a smile on her face the entire time. I absolutely love this waffle House at this location I will drive past four pancake Houses to get to this waffle house location where the staff is super friendly and caring and know customers by their name. One thing that I absolutely have to share is one visit to waffle House there was a older gentleman in a wheelchair who had pulled into the Parking lot to come in and was struggling to get out his van two employees said to their customers if they didn't mind they were going to go help this elderly man, and asked if anyone needed anything before going to offer assistance and everyone spoke they were good. So the two ladies then took off their aprons and walked out to greet this man and helped him lower his wheel chair ramp and then helped close up the van door and one lady opened the door and the other pushed him in holding his jacket. That wasn't part of their job but they took time to do so. That's the kinda place I enjoy eating at...
Read moreCoffee was old, bottom of the pot, and she didn't offer to make any fresh. Okay, so they were short staffed, but that doesn't excuse not making fresh coffee. Stopped in for a late dinner with the wife and kids. Tables were dirty and we had to fit 6 of us into a 4-person booth. Cook had some kind of attitude going, slinging or slamming dishes about as if she had somewhere else she'd rather be. Waitress, the only one, was working hard to keep things going. With the exception of the coffee issue, I would give her a lot more credit. Cooks attitude reflected in the food. Over medium eggs my daughter ordered were broken and fried hard. Toast was burnt. Hamburger bun for my youngest son was broken and falling apart. But, it's Waffle House and they were short-staffed... likely wouldn't have been an issue with proper staffing. Waitress did fill my coffee for me, but neglected my wife's cup. And my refill was less than half a cup, of really old coffee. Since we don't live here it's not likely we would go back at any time. If you're visiting Surfside Beach and want to take the chance... well, it's your call. When we return next year we'll look elsewhere for our late...
