Had the best experience today. It was our first time visiting Bent Street Cafe & Deli. The staff went beyond for us. My daughter ordered vegetable soup. When it came, she tried a bite, (pictured) and it was too hot to eat, so she was waiting patiently for it to cool. A waitress (not ours) walked by and noticed and brought her a little plate with sliced cucumber, tomato, black olives, and a package of oyster crackers to snack on while she was waiting. I am keto so I had to special order my sandwich as a lettuce wrap. I got "The Taos" which came with turkey, green chiles, bacon, jack cheese, guacamole, and salsa. They did it without hesitation, and it was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've literally ever had. It is the exact opposite kind of experience I've been having at Sagebrush our past few trips. 100% would recommend and I already look forward to returning on our next trip to Taos!

I ordered the avocado in the morning, and I thought it was very good. Pretty straightforward, but tasty. It felt a bit pricey at $14 for the dish, but everything with avocado is that way. Also, it seemed like that dish should have come with breakfast potatoes based on how the menu is organized, but none were brought out out to me. I knew I wouldn't have eaten a whole side so I didn't ask the waitress, but just an FYI to note. The waitress was nice so I'm sure if it was a mistake she would have corrected it. (I did try the potatoes from someone at my table, they weren't anything special). I also ordered the latte, which was decent but a very small size. There was a lot of milk foam, but very little "liquid" in the cup. For $6 I had hoped for more - but, they did fill it up with more (normal) coffee for free, which probably justified the price. I'd put this more at about a 3.5 if I could.

This place was fantastic. They had a great selection of sandwiches and many other cafe/deli items. I had the chicken salad sandwich, but asked for a croissant rather then the wheat bread that it came with... a choice that proved to be wonderful They are dog friendly on the patio which is quite large and shaded for an enjoyable breezy lunch outside. The staff was very friendly and attentive. All in all we were able to enjoy a very relaxed lunch and then take a stroll along the plaza afterwards. *Note: if you plan to park on the side of the roads and use the parking meters you will need quarters. If you find yourself in need of quarters find your way to Monet's Kitchen and they will happily give you quarters for your dollars.

I don’t normally write reviews. I appreciate how hard people work, especially in a service industry. I also feel if you work in a service industry, you should be prepared to occasionally make reasonable accommodations, Today, my elderly mother and I went to Bent Street to have lunch after arranging for my father’s cremation. He died on Christmas and I was hoping to give my mother an emotional respite from her grief by taking her to a restaurant she has enjoyed for over 20 years. Truth be told, neither one of us were in the best emotional space but the hostess was very harsh and terse. We walked in, made reservations for 2 and returned 20 minutes later. They were busy and I’m sure stressed with a busy tourist clientele. She took us to a 2 top table that was situated very close between 2 other tables. My mother was fearful of being exposed to a virus and we politely asked for a table a bit further away from other people. The hostess said no other table was available and explained why. That is when things seemed to change with the hostess. She appeared visibly frustrated that my mother was unable to make a decision to stay or leave and I asked again if there was any way she could just accommodate her request. She then states, “Oh, you’re going to be like that.” And turned her back to us and began to walk away. I asked who the manager was and she sarcastically said in a loud voice, “It’s me!.” I approached her and said my father has just died and that she was being extremely rude. I’m aware there is no way she could have known that, but even after I shared this, she told me that I was being rude (which I probably was by this point). She also said things to me like, “Oh, are going to go there with me?!” which felt like a strangely confrontational thing to say in the moment. She also stared me down with a look that I can only describe as utter contempt. I was in shock and and left the restaurant feeling terrible. I always loved eating there with my parents but clearly some things have changed and the vibe is very different than what I remember. I’m sure this was a moment in time that will not matter down the road. Eat there if you want, don’t eat there if you don’t. I just needed to share what our experience was because it was something that made a difficult day for me 100...

I'm not normally one to complain about things or even post a negative review but I was not met with good service nor consideration on my first and ONLY visit. I waited 10 min to get water and coffee then waited another 20 minutes toget my waiter to take my order to get soup and sandwich and then find out you wanted to charge me 30 dollars for a sandwich, cup of soup and 3.50 for a fricken cup of coffee that was very bitter and most of all VERY POOR SERVICE. I WAS having a beautiful birthday weekend until I went here and I was ignored and the waiter inexperienced and cared more about everyone else but me. I will NOT be going back ever to this place. Worst $30 I spent on MYSELF...!!? CAN'T imagine how much it would have been if I had my kids or husband for that matter.... AND I WAS right underneath the heater, and did the waitress bother to ask me how I felt about turning on the heater, NO... I was miserable. The heater activated my allergies and I could NOT wait to get out of there. Thanks for ruining my visit. I was looking forward to trying this place. You won't get my money ever again, and I FREQUENTLY visit Taos. I have no problem spending money on things in Taos but this is not one place I'll gladly spend $30 on again. And my waiter was highly inexperienced .... Consider hiring better experienced staff. I'M NOT HAPPY , and even after you advertised having Banana bread french toast, which is what I was looking forward to because I was tired of the same ol same ol, your waiter didn't seem to happy about me...

I found this restaurant on the HappyCow app, and I was excited to see a café that had lots of vegan options. However, considering that this place markets itself as fresh and local food, I was shocked by how bad the potatoes were, and how bland the rest of the food was. The potatoes were served cold, however, they had the texture of potatoes that seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for the entire day. Add that to a complete lack of seasoning, and it was entirely inedible. And this is from someone with pretty low bar when it comes to potatoes. The pinto beans had zero flavor, the toast was about the size of my palm and clearly just a supermarket bought loaf of cheap wheat toast, the vegan eggs, while plentiful, had zero seasoning or flavor to them. My wife had the vegan breakfast burrito and had the same issues with her potatoes, as well as a flavorless burrito. The red sauce did have some nice flavor, but not enough to make up for what was otherwise a holy uninspiring plate of food. The best part of the breakfast was that the avocado was a generous portion of an actual half of an avocado. Maybe the omnivore options have better taste, but otherwise I can recommend this...
