A bit pricey, but Tawas is a resort town. I love that there are no stairs, you have direct access to the outside, because my dog is 14 years old and in poor health. It's great they let you bring your dog. It's $25 a day which is expensive but seems to be the going rate. The only complaint I have are all the bugs that get inside, including spiders. I just bring home defense spray and spray it inside the room and above the door outside where chairs are conveniently located, air it out before my dog and I go inside, and it's great :-) It is usually very clean, which is important to me. My first stay mid-July, the room had carpeting and I didn't care for that especially in a room that allows small dogs. But it was vacuumed and stain free for the most part. My dog didn't even feel the need to urinate on the carpeting, which means to me that there was no recent/uncleaned dog urine present. I stayed there again over the 4th of July weekend, and the floor was vinyl, which I prefer when hotels allow pets. Unfortunately, the vinyl flooring didn't appear to have been mopped with clean water. However, I'm always prepared, so I grabbed my Clorox wipes (the rooms are small so it only took me about 5 minutes) and the floor was perfect for walking around barefoot. I will stay there again. But don't forget your Ortho Defense indoor/outdoor bug spray if you don't like small spiders, Mayflies,...
Read moreHonestly wish I could give them a negative review, but one was the lowest. My family and I were traveling on vacation and we stopped in Tawas for the night. The gentleman that checked us in was nice and courteous. Let us stay in the pool longer than 11 if we wanted to. Heres where the problem started. We turned the A/C on an hour before we returned from the pool, the room still hadn't cooled mind you it was 90 that day, and didn't cool till 4am. The room had bugs all over the walls not just the few you let in at night when you bring stuff in. I'm talking the door had been left open for hours with the light on kind of bugs. The beds were poorly made, toiletries not filled, previous tenants dirty clothes in the dresser, Gross and the fridge didn't work properly. I spent a good 2 hours cleaning the bugs because I didn't want my 1yr old and 8 year to get bitten while they slept. The thoughts of changing rooms crossed my mind but I didnt want to moved my sleeping baby yet everything babies come with. I did talk to the manager he said "well can't do anything about mother nature." I asked "could you do something about the fact I found the previous tenants clothes in the dresser?" He said "I look into it." I do not recommend this place especially at weekend rate of...
Read moreFirst off my partner and I had a bad experience here. Tub was backing up so we had to use a dirty shower. Sink was leaking and if it weren’t for my partners plumbing education the room would have been worse. The owner kicked us visitors out an hour before the rules say guests til 8. The owner hollered at me and a friend of mine who came over to have a small meal and watch a movie. He was extremely rude so I won’t swear on here but the owner is just like the rooms we had… a dump. Switching rooms did not take care of any of the problems. Bugs everywhere, headboard fell off the screw and hit my partner straight in the head. Luckily we didn’t need to call the ambulance. Rudest motel owner I have ever met and I grew up here. It’s a shame the owner is who he is and wasn’t and isn’t concerned about a positive experience. I wouldn’t even recommend this place to my enemies. Very mean and rude owner who doesn’t care about living conditions unless it’s about his own family who have greater conditions than the rooms. There was no need to holler at a guest and the partner of the room renter. This type of owner shouldn’t have businesses like this because both rooms were garbage. Very honest review. Will not even recommend to my...
