Surfside Motel Marina Resort — Hotel in Tawas City

What a delightfully charming little place. Usually my husband and I camp because we find most accommodations to be lacking, but our RV is in for repair and we found ourselves at the Surfside in Tawas. This wonderful little place is nicely situated close to town with direct access to the bay and a beautiful grassy area in the back to relax by the river. The room was well appointed with everything needed to be comfortable and then some. Most importantly to us, everything is sparkling, and I mean brilliantly clean!! This is so important when you stay away from home and you are counting on clean sheets and a tidy space to relax. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. It felt comfortable from the first phone call. We highly recommend this as a clean, comfortable place to stay when you visit Tawas. My only disappointment is that this place will not stay our secret and we may find it harder to stay here...

I booked the venue in March for couple of rooms for myself & family. The day we arrived we were warmly greeted & allowed to enter early. The rooms were everything we needed & wanted & the hosts were most accommodating. One large cottage type room with kitchen & separate sleeping and living room. The other room was cute & cozy & perfect for just me! The views are so soothing, with ducks & deer & bunnies every morning to enjoy with coffee outside your door. We kayaked, swam, barbecued, and had a campfire with all the comforts of a cottage. Location is across from the Lake, with walking & swimming in the sand. We read about this motel on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. I called ahead to inquire about rooms. I was told that room #1 with the lake view was reserved, but two other rooms were available. I asked which one she would recommend? She told us, one room is larger, but room #5 has a wonderful view of the river even though it’s smaller. She was right! We had a beautiful view of the river AND the room was small, but had everything we needed. There was a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker, so we went to a local grocery store and purchased breakfast bowls. Perfect! We also took out a paddle boat and enjoyed a lovely trip out to the lake and down the river. The owners are friendly & helpful. We’d stay again if we ever find ourselves...
