As a Marriott Platinum Elite member, I have stayed at many a Marriott property (including many nice / updated Towneplace Suites) and this might be the worst hotel (Marriott or otherwise) that I have ever stayed at. ||Picked the location as it's
Read morein general the property is nice and modern (and definitely a step up from some of the older TownePlaces we've visited). Friendly staff and very good breakfast, too.
But... a few issues surprised us.
In the exercise room, all three pieces of cardio equipment had problems -- not one or two, but all three. With the treadmiills, the TV was not hooked up properly (couldn't get sound and you could only get one channel as it is). Not a huge deal, but whatever. But the elliptical really surprised me -- it was basically busted, with a part having fallen off and with exposed wiring! Unacceptable. Frankly, if you can take pains to stock the exercise room with towels and keep it clean, why wouldn't you make sure the equipment is working???!!! I really hate it when I can't get a good workout when I'm staying at a hotel.
No do-not-disturb sign in room. Don't know why it was missing, but as a result we got a knock on our door from housekeeping relatively early on Sunday morning. I called front desk to ask about getting a sign (I said just post it on the door). When we left at noon, the sign still hadn't come. Not a huge deal, but still...
The fridge in room was VERY noisy -- kept cycling on and off throughout the night. If we were in a one-bedroom suite, it wouldn't have mattered. But being in a studio, it was definitely not a great situation -- woke me up a couple of times during the night.
So, again, the hotel overall seemed nice, but there were a few pesky problems -- enough that I'm not 100% sure we would return (though I guess it would depend on what else is in area -- we are thinking of coming back because we liked Robert Moses State Park and we have...

The room I was offered to stay in had an extremely foul odor. I believe it was coming from the stove that was very old with grease stains. The towels in the rooms were warn and the sheets were stained. The hotel needs all new linen.
The floors in the lobby had crumps and needed to be vacuumed.
When I requested to move to another the room the person at the front desk was very pleasant and switched my room to a larger suite at no extra charge.
However when I asked if there was availability across the street at your sister property - Courtyard Marriott, I was told that this hotel was sold out. When I spoke to my company’s travel department in the morning the Courtyard Marriott did in fact have availability. Which means that I was not told the truth by your front desk representative.
I didn’t leave the TownPlace Suites the next day; I decided to stay and make the best of it as the larger suite was cleaner and didn’t have an odor. (But the linen was still warn).
When I got home to check my credit card account I had learned that my personal credit card had been charged. It was only provided for incidentals as my room was pre-paid by my company. I immediately called when I learned about this error and spoke to a representative that stated that they would look into the situation and give me a call back. Which NEVER happened!!!
I will never stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend this hotel to my friends or colleagues.
I asked my travel department to strongly consider moving TownPlace Suites from our hotel...
