What happened Trento?
My wife and I dine out quite a bit and love to give great feedback on good restaurants over the past few years but unfortunately the streak has ceased!!! What happened to Trento? I've been bugging my wife to come back here as it was so good in the past and with the opening of so many other places we finally decided to go to Trento to enter the doors to an obviously find at the desk a disinterested general manager named Rui who was sitting on a stool slumped over the computer without a true greating...After finally being acknowledged, we checked in for a table and proceeded to a poorly run bar who really should undergo retraining on personality as well as mixology for drinks.. The staff extremely unfriendly not only behind the bar but to the point of being escorted to our table by someone either had a fight with their significant other or who is stressed out on overdue taxes or whatever her thought process was on other then her job at this time!
In comes Felipe who may come to our rescue!! Very pleasant grreting and related the days special without a glitch!! We order our wine which is set properly to temperature for a Pinot and receive our wedge salad which has NO bacon!! Ok, not a big deal but then my wife receives her filet medium well when ordered rare.. Poor Filipe appeared stunned and didn't know what to do..... He takes the steak back stating that it should only take approximately 15 minutes which is usual to get a filet rare... Well after turning the red pepper dispenser to cover my dish without any granules of red pepper coming out of the dispenser we wait almost 25-30 minutes before the filet makes it debute to the table... In addition we had ordered a side of sprouts and for some crazy reason there appears to our table asparagus.. We also ordered bottled water where we would have expected for the price at least an Aqua Panna and receive a bottle of something maybe above the level of a distilled bottle of water that I had gotten in the fields while serving in the US Army!! By this time, we are totally disinterested in my sweet tooth to order dessert due to our total disappointment. I received the check which compared to the food was about four times what it was worth... Well, it's time to go!! As we are leaving and pass the desk to see the hostess texting away without an acknowledgement of either "Thank you for coming" or "Have a good evening" as we pass, she was too entrenched in her texting conversation..
Let's have good dessert and what's expected from our freezer of Cherry vanilla ice cream which was a delight! My desire to go back to Trento is gone when there are so many enticing restaurants just north of here for a better experience and food... I believe in over 100 restaurant postings over a two year period this is my second one star ( This was being nice!!) rating where the other rating involved my poor wonderful wife sustaining food poisoning! Good bye Trento until new management revamps the poor presentation of your bartenders, greeters and your obviously disinterested general manager is replaced with better first impression as that's where a good...
Read moreWe happened upon this restaurant on our trip back from The Hamptons. I had been looking for somewhere to do a quick Valentine's Day lunch that didn't require a reservation and was open. Most of the restaurants in the area and along the way were closed while we were traveling (Between 12pm and 1pm). It seemed that either everyone was waiting until dinner or they were not offering lunch on Valentine's Day. We just happened to get off an exit to look for something quick to eat and passed Trento. There were not a lot of cars outside but you could tell it was open. We decided to stop and check it out. We were seated immediately. The inside is very nice. We had the calamari for an appetizer. It was a little on the salty side but still edible. But my pasta.... Whoo, Chile! Give me more, please! My Paccheri was so flavorful and decadent. I did not want to finish my plate because I wanted it to last longer. I would have ordered another serving at $30 that's how good it was. Seriously, if I were not trying to eat healthier I would have dove right into another portion. The ambiance was cozy and intimate. The service was fairly quick if not a little stale and cold. But I don't ever expect super friendly servers these days. I would definitely come back for the pasta. Many establishments claim to be trained in Italian cuisine and when I sit down expecting something phenomenal for the price, I get Kraft macaroni and cheese. There's nothing wrong with Kraft. But most places don't have Kraft prices. I am always left feeling taken advantage of. Not at Trento. If you are ever in the area and you want freshly prepared, authentic pasta, please do yourself a huge favor and go to Trento. You will not be...
Read moreTrento in Farmingdale. 4 stars for the food but 1 star for the ridicules loud music playing during dinner time. We complained 2 times to the staff to please lower the speaker in the main dining room and twice I don’t think it was lowered at all. It really took away from a beautiful atmosphere as well as us trying to enjoy our dinner. Shame on Trento management not to realize how this takes away from your dinner. The food was amazing. Apps could have been hot instead of warm but were delicious. My main meal was perfect and plenty of food, and I had to bring home what I couldn’t finish. We didn’t even open the dessert menus because we couldn’t stand how loud the music was playing so we left and went to the bar. There I complained to the bartender we can barely even hear her take our drink order for an after dinner drink and she said yeah it’s really really loud and for the third time we ask it the singer can just lower it and again nothing. So I left with a full belly and a massive headache. So now for the disbelievers about music playing and maybe saying I’m old. I’ve been to a 100 weddings and all 100 of them either take a break during dinner or maybe one singer comes on and sings soft music to enjoy your dinner. We had a Frank Sinatra wanna be blasting through the dinning room speakers to the point where we saw one table leave another table complain as well and even our waitress said it was so loud and they were trying to figure out how to lower his volume. I would go back for the food but as long as there were no entertainment until they...
