As you walk into the hotel you immediately recieve the warm welcome that the comfort Inn and Suite in Cicero has to offer. Firstly, the manager, Robert Tallarico, checked us in 1/2 an hour earlier then the check in and was most accomadating. He ensure that our stay would be the best, and he lived up to that promise.
The Lemon water and the cookies for my niece and nephew was the most prized item that a child could have, and it was open and avaliable to them. The cleaniness and the organization of the lobby was most alluring and made me feel like I had all the money in the world to spend on a hotel, although their prices are really inexpensive. The business yet family friendly lobby helped me feel at ease and welcomed.
If you think that the lobby was something to get excited about, let me tell you about our room. As a previous Choice Hotel employee, you know what you are looking for in the cleaniness of a hotel, and I have to tell you I check every time. I could not find a flaw with our room. The beds were perfectly made, the office space in a suite was comfortable, warm and inviting. I have no complains with this room, and will request it again. When we mentioned that we have children that can possible get a little excited, they immediately took action and put us on the end of the floor next to the stairs, without being asked, in hopes that we did not disturbed any other guest. The bathroom was wonderful and alluring, and it just cried for you to use. The television and phone was user friendly and so wasn't the internet. This was truly the perfect hotel room.
The Managers meet and greet is a great way for people to get to mingle with other guest. We found some nice folks in Florida that were on their school vacation as us, and we actually got to enjoy each other company in the pool and our children seem to become hit it off and became friends during our trip, as we the adults did as well. The two complimentary drinks they offered and food was a wonderful addition, and I must admit, a spurise to me in regards to how accomadating the staff was.
The pool and fitness center was an amazing addition to the hotel, and the staff keeps it very clean. There is nothing more relaxing then the ability to come back to our hotel or "our home away from home" and relax and the pool. We will specifically remember this pool and hotel because my nephew Charlie, took his first solo swim in this pool, which means they made the pool expereince not only safe and welcoming but comfortable enough were he felt safe. "Thank You, it was a long battle". :-)
The staff was wonderful. In our time here we were able to meet several staff members, our front desk staff Jacob, Alicha, and joe were most welcoming and stepped up for anything we needed. There was a noise issue on the last night we were here, I called the front desk and Alicha and Joe stepped up to quiet them down, which I appreciated the most. Our housekeeper Bob, who worked on our room for both nights, was wonderful. He treated us like we were his own guest, and ensured that were were comfortable, and when we asked for extra towels and just our bathrooms to be cleaned, he went out of his way to ensure that it is exactly what we wanted, Thank you Bob. Renee, the head housekeeper, asked us if there was anything we can do, and if there were any problems to let her know because she will solve it immediately. Hattie in the breakfast room made sure that our breakfast accomadations were top notch, and I have to say, I will be back for some of Hatties Eggs and Bacon. Although we only worked closely with these few, I know that all of the staff members make the difference in the hotel expereince and I am so grateful that they are here for us.
On another note, if you are look for a great hotel to stay at in regards to comfort and luxury, please choose this hotel, it will truly be the greatest place you will...
Read moreWe booked a two night stay Saturday & Sunday night with a Monday departure. The staff were mostly kind and caring, if not overwhelmed by some of the behavior by certain guests who were loud and overbearing. Other staff seemed less overwhelmed but there were others still that were just not at all helpful. Staff would be a 4/5
Check-in 4/5 was mostly smooth but the angry guest at the counter made it unpleasant.
Cleanliness - 1/5 - this was the primary issue. On the surface it seemed to be clean. However, the cleanliness (and therefore comfort) of the room was only surface. 0/5 stars for lack of tidy room upon check-in.
Saturday evening around 10:30 PM we realized the room bedding was not properly cleaned during turn-over from a previous guest which we found out when we tried to use the sleeper sofa and found filthy make-up and stain filled sheets. When we called the front desk we were told nothing could be done until the morning.
Overnight (4am Sunday) I found a cockroach in the bathroom. It scattered before it could be killed. In the morning (6 am Sunday) on our way to what we thought was breakfast (it was not until 7am) my son put his barefoot into his sneaker. He felt something move as he walked remove the shoe to find what looked like a bloated (possibly pregnant) cockroach fall out. His shoes were near the bathroom overnight.
I promptly notified the front desk about the additional issue with bugs and untidy state of the room when we tried to get to bed. I was told by a young man that nothing could be done because it was the weekend and there is no housekeeping during the weekend. And that I would need to provide "evidence" that I killed a bug on their property. As I am not in the habit of carrying around dead bug carcasses I 1) did not save the bugs we killed. 2) did not document the effects of a size 9 shoe smashing the bug.
After requesting the general manager, I eventually spoke with the Manager on duty, Danielle, who assured me the room would be promptly cleaned. She assured the beds would be remade with all clean linens and disinfected while we were out for the day. Which it was at least on the surface tidier. With clean linens. However the sofa bed was uncomfortable and felt like springs. Far from "comfort" in a stretch of the word.
Monday morning I woke up to find another cockroach in the bathroom that scurried off. I was also able to spot another this time that it was crawling on the wall toward one of the beds. I killed it and promptly brought its dead carcass to the front desk as per previous request of their evidence policy.
This was the last straw. As soon as I could speak to a manager I was leaving. I packed up and we left shortly delivering the dead bug to the front desk
Food - prepacked food was the only thing I was willing to eat because of the bugs. 2/5
Suite size - 5/5 Double Queen suit with sleeper sofa. Plenty of space.
Wifi - 1/5 poor connection speed.
Amenities - 2/5 Mini fridge was cold enough but also had a puddle of water at the bottom of it that had to be dealt with by me.
pool was a plus except the chlorine fumes were so toxic it was burning our eyes from the hallway.
T V had no local news access and channel guide was not accurate or easily accessible. It did have an HDMI port so we just connected it to our devices to watch TV as the smart cast feature was not functional.
The other issue I had was that I was told a discount would be applied to my room as a result but at check out my folio was still reflecting the booked rate. If the room had been clean and bug free I would not have had a problem with the price of the room. For the price it was not a good value-- especially for the...
Read moreI travelled to Cicero for a family funeral this past week and stayed 2 nights at Comfort Suites. My experience was none to be desired and I will not be back to stay at this location when I visit again. I arrived early, about 1:30pm, for check in. I was not expecting to be able to check in but thought I'd try since I was ahead of schedule. The front desk attendant said she would be able to check me in since they had plenty of clean rooms - even though the computer stated that all the rooms were dirty. I gave her all my information and she proceeded to check me in. After about 10 minutes, she went back into the office and came out and said actually I can't check you in, housekeeping isn't finished with the rooms - come back at 3. So she cancelled my check in and I left. I came back at 4:15 to check in again. I waited for the family in front of me to finish checking in, then it was my turn. The front desk attendant remembered who I was and rechecked me in and sent me up to my room. As I was walking down the hall to get to my room I noticed every door was propped open as was mine when I got to my room. I entered and saw the bedding was all on the floor as the room was in the process of being cleaned. Wow, 4:15pm - an hour after check in time - and the rooms are still not cleaned. So I went downstairs to the front desk and saw the family in front of me had the same issue. The attendant apologized and radioed the cleaning crew. The head housekeeper came out and argued with the front desk person for a moment saying she told them she wasn't ready for guests. I was told to wait a few moments while the room was finished. 20 minutes later I was sent back up to my room. When I arrived, there was a housekeeper in the room still cleaning the bathroom! So I went back downstairs and told the front desk attendant. She apologized again and went in the back to get the manager. She said he'd be out in a moment. 5 minutes go by and she wonders where he is and goes back and then tells me he's typing something and isn't sure when he'll be out. After a few more minutes, he comes out and apologizes and says he'll take half off of my second night stay and add some points to my comfort suites account. This has never happened yet and I checked out 4 days ago. Upon checkout, I mentioned to a different front desk attendant about the credit and points and she said there wasn't any notes and "why would he do that?" She made me feel awkward about asking. She then wrote down my name and number on a scrap piece of paper and said the manager would call me. He never did. I experienced massive miscommunication and lack of caring from the staff - EXCEPT a front desk clerk named Brittany. She was the only one that offered sincere customer service - I didn't get that from the manager or the other female front desk clerk who...
