I stayed here with my boyfriend from Dec 27-30 in 2021. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the front desk and check-in was seamless. We even received warm chocolate walnut cookies and complimentary water bottles. That was a nice treat to start the stay with. We were able to check in on the app also and picked out our room. We only went to the front desk to pick up the key cards because we prefer having a physical key in addition to the app key. Upon arriving into our room, the king bed and the room was very nice and cozy and clean.
The bathroom is spacious, and the counter top has so much space which I loved with a bright and lighted vanity mirror. However, when I checked the shower heads (there were two), it looked like it could use a good soak and scrub because it had hardened limescale. (See pictures.)I requested for them to clean it the following morning as we could wait to shower until the next day since their room service options are limited hours.
The following day, room service did a light clean in our room, took the trash and used towels, re-made our bed, and supposedly cleaned the shower heads. There was no visible change in cleanliness so I just cleaned one of them myself so that we could shower. I felt like it would be pointless to argue and call them back up if they weren't going to do anything. That was quite disappointing.
They had an attached restaurant on the ground floor whose food was really tasty and convenient. Their servers were kind and we were able to dine in and /or order for pick up to eat in our rooms. I wish they could have also delivered the food but no big deal. On the occasion we ordered our food to be picked up so we could eat in our room I noticed they gave us ketchup packets for our side order of fries but they were expired. I could tell because the packets were extremely puffy meaning bacterial gas build up. I threw them out. They were so puffy that I knew if I ripped one open it would burst with the gas and contents. Better safe than sorry. Restaurant needs to check their inventory to prevent guests from having food poisoning. Condiment packets are good for only about 90 days. I have a food safety license so I knew better than to let myself and my partner consume ketchup packets that were past their shelf life.
Another thing to note about my stay is that the heater is extremely drying and inconsistent. It was cold in December naturally so we used it but I would have to raise the temp to like 79 to get the room at least up to a comfortable 70. It was just rather inconsistent and would make the room feel extremely dry although I tried to keep it at a solid room temp of 72 degrees.
My partner and I did not attend the breakfast because it wasn't complimentary anyway so we would try local restaurants and diners instead which I highly recommend. Their restaurant was helpful and convenient for lunch or dinner because it was open late and just a few steps away.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay at this hotel minus the poor clean on the shower head and the expired ketchup packets. They will hopefully address these issues in the future and have more room service availability. I would stay here again because the location was nice and their...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible! Booked a block for my wedding guests and they tried their best to not honor the block as the hotel booking became tight. Some guests got bookinga but the hotel gave them the wrong nights, or in some cases the option of staying at the hotel only if they booked for the entire weekend, and better yet some were left on hold for over a half an hour (heard this multiple times!)! Guests had rooms in ice cold halls with neighboring rooms under construction, plastic coverings on the carpet, holes in the wallpaper, doors that needed the full force of your body to close far enough to lock, some even couldnt check in until after the 3 PM check in time because rooms weren't ready, and saving the worst for last despite being told multiple times that checking in to the bridal suite early at 1:00 was completely fine and not an issue we were unable to get the still not cleaned room until 2, and had to have it cleaned while the wedding was happening! But wait there's more! The hotel staff straight up lied to us! LIE 1: See above about check in. LIE 2: We were told we would have a PRIVATE bar until 4 AM, but the OPEN TO THE PUBLIC hotel bar was open until 2. LIE 3: We were told we could have food for our private after party at the bar. We ordered 2 trays of food that never showed up. Went to ask the bartender assuming that they put it out in the "private" bar and let it all be eaten by whomever waltzed by, and they called security! We did nothing to warrant security being called, and just wanted to know where to food we ordered weeks in advance was! Finally were told by security that it hadn't been ordered and then were kicked out of the open room next to the bar that we had assumed would be for us since we were told we would have a private space! I have emails showing the space being booked as a private bar until 4 AM, per the hotel management AND showing we ordered food. Security tried to start a fight with my father and groomsmen before running away like a dog with his tail between his legs. Deplorable behavior by the staff. LIE 4: Private breakfast. Same as the bar! Open breakfast for all weddings at the hotel in a room about the size of a hotel room. Cold eggs and greasy sausage were the stars here! We asked about why it wasn't private and were told "its private for all the weddings staying at the hotel." That doesnt make it private! The original management we were working with was great and got back to us promptly, but the new management and specifically Ashley Johnson who booked the reservations and made all these promises rarely returned emails in less than several days, assured us that our needs would be taken care of, and disappeared when convenient. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to a wedding, anyone who needs a room block, or even for anyone to stay at! Stay far, far away folks! This place is a joke and it's truly sad that Hilton let's them use the name DoubleTree. I expect to hear from hotel management about this since they didn't seem interested in my grievances at the time of the incidents or even at checkout, but doubt I ever will due to their incompetence, so I'll be contacting corporate as well. Never again doubletree nanuet,...
Read moreI would have gave the hotel 5 stars instead of 1, but because the hotel hospitality was horrible. The morning of my wedding day August 12th, 2018 at 7:15am the toilet bowl in the rest room exploded, When I called the front desk the receptionists told me that I had to wait for the manager to get in at 8 o'clock. I told her that she has to send maintenance to my room and that I had to be ready before 9 o'clock because my hair stylists and make up artists will be coming pretty soon. She than told me that she'll call me back in 5 minutes, which she did and told me that I could use another restroom in another room but the room isn't complete but the bathroom is. But to my surprise the restroom itself wasn't ready, it had plenty of junk in the tub, there wasn't any possible way to shower and to get ready for my day. So I called her and told the receptionist that, she just said to me to sit tight and the housekeeper will be up & I told her that there wouldn't be any way that the housekeeper can fix this. It's 9:18am my makeup artist and Hairstylist was in my room ready to start but I told them that they will have to wait for a few more minutes because I might have to change my room. So I had to call the first desk and ask to speak with the manager. She was there the whole time. She got on the phone and said that she can move me to the room next door to my room. I told her that she has to come up to see the damage for herself so she did and just said to me that this has never had before. I told her that this is a very serious situation and that someone or my son could had gotten hurt, she just hand me the keys to the other room. I told the manager once I'm done with my hair and make I'll move my stuff to the other room. She said okay, but that was a lie because around 11am the manager came back up and asked why my stuff are still in the other room. I told her remember I said that I'll move everything once I was done but I was still doing my makeup so my mom and bridesmaids had to bring everything to the new room. So around checking out time I asked the manager that I have no problem paying her for the Groomsmens room because they were also there but I told her that I shouldn't be paying for the room that I was in that the toilet bowl exploded. She said that she can not do that because she gave me another room. I said no I was the one that asked for a new room after her receptionist couldn't do anything. She still said that she can not do that, I told her that someone could have been hurt really badly. So the morning after my wedding day during checkout time I asked for the manager and said if I can only be charged for the second room, but she said that she can not. I am very disappointed on how things...
