Read moreI thought that the photos on the web depicted quality which I found to be lacking. Let me explain:
There is no desk clerk after 10 PM. We paid $126/nite and the place was full. Would it kill the owner to have someone on duty 24/7?
Yes, there is a "complimentary breakfast." It consisted of coffee, orange juice, bagels and English muffins. No milk was available, but then again, there was no cereal available and nothing else. The area housing the breakfast items was deficient in roominess as people crowded around trying to place something into the toaster. I could go on, but I believe you get the point.
The rooms are dated. There is a sprayed "popcorn" finish on the ceilings, indicating that there hasn't been any upgrade in 30 years. The TV'S, while adequate, are dated also. A weightlifter would love them, since they are they are old, heavy and cumbersome. Our bathroom had repairs made to it (in Room 209) and the patch job in the wall under the toilet was just that - - - a patch job, which reminded me of some of the dives I used to stay in 40 years ago. Another thing: There is a striking lack of electrical outlets, which is also indicative of no remodeling over the years. In this day in age, when people plug in their cellphones, ipads, ipods, and everything else under the sun, The Inn at Truckee was sorrily lacking in this amenity.
Security. Room security, at least in our room, was lacking. The door chain lock (which, when engaged, prevents the door from opening more than a couple inches) was totally missing. How can management ignore this? Either they are incompetent or don't care. Or both. In either case, it is indicative of a place which fails to pay attention to the details.
There is no elevator. Fortunately, my wife and I pack lightly. But many folks do not. If you book here, bear this in mind.
We paid $126/nite. When we visit Truckee again, we will gladly pay half again that much for more up to date...
Read moreAVOID THIS HOTEL AND EXPEDIA at all cost!!! 12/24/2021 Christmas Eve, I'm driving back to california and stucked in the snow storm thinking maybe I need to stay at truckee for a night. I've booked this hotel for 300$ a night and that is the beginning of my nightmare. When I changed my navigation, the map shows, the road to the hotel is blocked and I called the hotel try to cancel it within 5 minutes of booking it. This Hotel is saying I booked through the expedia and they cant cancel it. I called expedia and let expdia agent call the hotel. I stay on the line so I know the expedia is calling the hotel. The expedia agent was saying, it is pay at property type and hotel should cancel it. So I called the hotel again. They kick the ball back to the other and just won't cancel it. I was driving in the snowstorm, with unstable cell signals in the mountain, trying to get this resolved. But after 5 calls from the hotel and expedia they just wont cancel it. So they can charge overpriced hotel rooms during the snowstorm. Hotel charged my credit card even before I checked in. I have not received any service from the hotel but got charged? After days of calling back and forth, this refund case still not resolved. 300 dollars paid and I have not received any services from the hotel, wasted hours calling and waiting. AVOID THIS HOTEL AND EXPEDIA...
