This is regarding my stay at the Country Inn City Center, Tucson Arizona on February 3 through February 6. I was quoted a rate of $209 per night at check in by Edgar, the front desk clerk, for my stay as a courtesy instead of the $269. On the first morning of my stay the general manager Christopher Leon came to into my room and told me that he would not honor that rate and that the rate would be $269 and 5 minutes into the conversation he threateningly said the rate was going up to $299. He further stated that the following night it would be going up to $379. Naturally, I objected saying that Edgar, the front desk clerk, gave me a rate of $209 a night for the duration of my stay. I have the signed rate document that I was provided. Christopher Leon said that is a group rate and you were not part of a group so I cannot give you that rate. I stated that I never indicated to Edgar that I was part of a group. I only mentioned to Edgar that the rate had gone up $110 from the previous year and Edgar said “let me see what I can do for you.” He went into the office and when he returned offered a rate of $209 a night for the duration of my stay. I stay at this particular property every year. Christopher Leon told me that there were two avenues to resolve this, the first was I can pay the rates that he demanded in his conversation or leave the hotel at once. I objected because that is extortion and fraud. He did not honor the rate contract and furthermore he was exceptionally aggressive toward me in issuing me this ultimatum. My business partner was present and witnessed this conversation and has offered to provide a sworn affidavit if necessary to the corporate offices. Christopher Leon is clearly unfit for his position as GM and is guilty of an act of attempted fraud and extortion in his attempt to violate the hotel’s rate contract. He has alienated me as a guest and is unfit to be in the hospitality business. I’m happy to pay the $209 per night that Is indicated on the contract I signed. I will not pay the rates that Christopher Leon quoted me. This charge has been flagged on my credit card and I have opened a dispute if the rate is other than the $209 a night that I have a contract for. I have received no satisfaction thus far from Radisson corporate in resolving this issue. They continue to obfuscate the issue and believe the lies Leon told them regarding the fact that I did not request a group rate at check in, it was offered to me as a courtesy. Never have I been treated so poorly by the general manager at a hotel. Furthermore Christopher Lyons lied to Radisson corporate about my check in. I’m done with Radisson for good. I will further be reporting this issue to the Attorney General of the...
Read moreStayed here for just one night to take advantage of the whirlpool room since I don't have a bathtub at home. The price was reasonable, the service was great, the room was clean and well appointed with amenities, and free cookies/waters/hot drinks plus a full breakfast included in the price was awesome.
It was the best hotel breakfast I've had short of ordering from a menu: oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad and apples/bananas/peaches, waffles, french toast, mini-omelets, potatoes, sausages and bacon (I believe, I didn't have any since I'm a vegetarian), breads, bagels, muffins, pastries, and lots of juices and coffees with fixings. A nice bonus was that, even though the breakfast room was super busy, everyone was surprisingly courteous and there was an extra room for seating so that there wouldn't be limited seating/eating space.
In the room, the water pressure was great and there was plenty of hot water (even enough to re-heat the water up a couple times). I had read that the freeway noise was a problem for light sleepers, but it was barely audible for me. A couple trains went by and were pretty close, but I don't recall hearing them after about 11pm. Unfortunately all too audible were the three drunk college girls next door at 2am pounding on the door so the one inside would let them in, looking for keys, etc, but they settled down within an hour or so and I certainly can't hold the hotel responsible for their rudeness.
Newspapers and magazines were available, as well as a borrowing library of books, cable television, etc. And though this wasn't an issue for me since I'm a local, it is very close to downtown and very easy to get to from the freeway. I'm very impressed and I'll probably make it a special treat every couple...
Read moreI found a deal for $64 a night. In the end I’d have to say I lean towards not recommending this place. If I were in town again and saw this place at a similar rate I’d consider it. But if the rate were anything over $80 a night, I’d say that’s too expensive for this location.
The place did seem clean. It is nice that the hotel is in a convenient location. I wouldn’t say the staff were nice nor rude. The people at the front desk were....eh. Just there for another day at work. The hotel has a sign saying they require masks while walking to and from your room, but many guests were not wearing masks. The hotel didn’t seem to care.
One big heads up about staying here, if you are assigned a room facing the highway, you WILL hear the traffic. For me the traffic was very loud all day, even with the AC on. I’ve stayed at some hotels where the traffic noise isn’t bad, but it is at this hotel.
During my stay, they did offer breakfast during the Covid 19 pandemic....but it was a joke. All it was is a paper lunch bag with barely anything in it. There are other 2 and 3 star hotels in Tucson that offer their normal breakfast but in a grab and go style. Not sure why this hotel couldn’t do that.
In addition, the beds were very uncomfortable. The hotel did not have mattress pads. The pool is small. Several college parties went on here during my stay. There are a decent amount of homeless people walking around/living by the property.
On top of all that, there were several parts of the hotel that needed maintenance. My room lock was broken. The light switch in my bathroom wasn’t screwed in all the way. The curtain in my room was missing a ring, so it didn’t cover the whole window. The elevator had a piece of...
