So this may be a long winded review but if you are looking for details here they are.
I travel a lot for work all across the country and I stay at Marriott hotels almost everywhere I go so I see many of them. I pick hotels with kitchens because I am there for 2 weeks on average and prefer to cook my own food.
PROS: Staff - the staff here are fantastic! I wanted to call out VICTOR from maintenance in particular as I had a clogged tub and had dealt with it for days before i finally became annoyed. He came in and within 15 minutes, it was working perfectly. he was polite and even apologized for it being clogged. he is a star in my book. I usually do not get room service as i have sensitive equipment in the room that i cannot risk. Even then the cleaning staff are always smiles and polite every time I see them around the hotel. Food - I have had a spectrum of complimentary breakfasts around the country. From horrible to fantastic. this is a little above middle of the road. the eggs are good and seem to not be powdered eggs, which I have had at other locations. Location - very good location. within 10 minutes of shopping and food of all types. Right down the street from the airport for early flight times.
CONS: Rooms - the rooms are run down. I have burn holes in the bedding which should have been caught when cleaned. The microwave panel is falling off which should have been fixed. The living room chair has a tear in the arm which should have been repaired. The panel on the air conditioner is falling off and has a screw dangling out of it that is stripped out. Hotel - The walls are thin! I can hear my neighbors alarm going off. That means he can hear my TV while I am watching it. The carpeting needs a good shampooing. The tiles in the lobby are cracked in multiple spots. it could use some touch-up paint throughout.
SUGGESTIONS: from my experience, most hotels that provide kitchens are for people staying longer then just a couple of days. The pod style coffee makers are extremely inefficient. It would be better to just have a regular coffee maker and provide a packet style coffee which I have seen at other hotels. That way long term visitors can just buy filters and their own coffee should they want more then a cup at a time and can make a pot of coffee. Also provide sponges. You can even buy regular sponges and cut them in half. You provide dish soap but nothing to wash a dish with other than a rag. Also, and this is being nitpicky but bigger TV,s. Some of us travelers are older and have less than stellar vision. TVs are cheap and a 55 or 65 inch TV is not that pricey and would go a long way in making a good room, a better room and I can guarantee the visitors would notice that simple gesture.
OVERVIEW: This hotel is good but could be better. It just needs a little tender loving care. Residence Inns are suppose to be a step above Towneplace Suites. I say this place needs to represent that. You already have a wonderful staff. Let them excel in a place that represents them as well.
I hope this review helps all visitors as well as notifies the owners what would make it better. I also want to again point out that the staff working here...
Read moreThis was not the best stay for our family of 4 and dog.
Danielle, the receptionist, at check in was nice and helpful. Explained the layout and then said we had a room on the third floor. We are a military family currently driving across country for new relocation orders. We have a 5 and 10 year old and a dog. We were getting off of a 12.5 hr stretch.
We get to our room everything seems ok. It's definitely worn and they could use some upgrades, especially the shower head that had build up and did not look very clean. (We also later would find dirty towels left in the room.) It's about 4 when we arrive. Once.in the room, kids are doing what kids do, they jump a the bed and run around a bit but that's it. Then eventually they go to the pool and I stay in the room with the dog. It's probably around 7 when they leave and 8 when they come back to the room. Not too long after they get back, Danielle calls, and in a condescending and scolding tone says "The people below said you're jumping around so you need to stop jumping around because they're trying to sleep. Thanks." I don't know why she thought it was ok to call and assume the worst without a conversation. I didn't deserve to be talked down to as if I'm a child. It's the summer time and even if my kids WERE jumping around, it's 8pm and summer break. Stop it. If she knew there was someone underneath us who was there on business and had to get up early (we're also by the airport so it's not like it's that quiet) then SHE should not have placed two kids and a dog on the highest level. That's poor management on her behalf.
But what made me the most upset was after I called her back AND when down to speak to her, she only said she apologized for her verbage, not for calling me and assuming, not for talking down to me like I'm a child or dumb, and not for the manner in which she handled the situation. I told her we're a military family in the process of relocating and we're tired too. She said, "Well then surely you can appreciate an early wake up call." They was no regard for us (also at Titanium Marriott members) just for the man who was trying to sleep. And honestly, it wasn't like we were up there having a hoedown. Did y kids run around sure, they'd just been in a car for 12hrs but we're not so inconsiderate that we would inconvenience another guest. But Danielle seemed to think and assume so.
Other than that, housekeeping was great and it is a great property to stay at with your pet. I just wish they double checked behind themselves cleaning. Breakfast was not a hit breakfast, not a big deal. We grabbed bagels, fruit, juice, and yogurt before getting back on the road.
We were all ready to go after the way...
Read moreWe stayed here this past weekend in a 1 king studio. It was a decent stay but not what I would call exceptional. I think I was expecting more from the hotel based on the reviews and pictures. Having been in newer and sometimes fancier hotels and older hotels that were maybe just better kept, I was leaning more toward a 3 rating than a 4. The room was pretty clean though and we appreciated that. The elevator was hot and stuffy. The bed was comfortable. It was a king but seemed smaller to me but it did fit all 3 of us though, my husband, myself, and our baby without us having to be squeezed together. The location is convenient if you wanted to shop or go to a restaurant nearby. (The Subway across the street is a do it yourself type Subway so that was interesting.) I like how the shower curtain bowed outwardly so the curtain wasn't able to touch you. The shower ran with a very nice, refreshing, heavy well-spread pour. We found one single trash can slash recycle bin in the entire room period and it was sooo small. We called downstairs for another one...it never came up. Breakfast the next morning was good and well watched over by the kitchen staff for refills etc. I wish I could've had bacon over sausage patties. Upon our initial encounter, my husband got a key card to a room that for whatever reason he couldn't get back into and none of the hotel's other key cards worked so he had to leave a personal item in the room - they switched us to another one. Also, they charged a $20 don't mess the room up fee or something without explaining that to him. I found out it was returnable but as many times as I called before we arrived, I would've thought they would have mentioned it considering I had already paid for the room. If we're in the area to stay again overnight, we will probably look for a different hotel but keep this one in mind as the "next...
