Although the facility was wonderful, I was very frustrated with a very big mistake.
I called on my way to the hotel, as I had 3 sleeping children in the van, just to make sure my room was ready. Whomever I spoke with was very kind and helpful, making sure I had a room with two queens for ease of moving my sleeping kids. I was going to make sure to note this in my review, because I felt it was very professional and made me feel confident and cared for.
But, when I got there, that staff person on the phone wasn't the staff person at the front desk, who wasn't particularly friendly. But I propped my now only semi-sleeping kids/baby on a trolley with our minimal luggage, pushed it upstairs with difficulty, and discovered my room was completely NOT made up. There were no sheets, the mattress pads were thrown over chair-backs, the phone and equipment not near plugs I could find to call the front desk in the dark, etc...
So, I had to truck my kids and now crying baby downstairs, and wait for them to figure something else out to get me a new room. Which they did, but still. Overall, this was just a frustrating experience traveling as a temporarily single mom.
In addition, I've had been traveling for a month and NO hotel actually charge my card in advance of an accident, like a deposit, on a room. The whole reason I book with Priceline is for the ease, and I know what will be put on my credit card and when. Many hotels do ask for my card in case I do need to pay something extra for damage, but according to the person at the counter of this hotel, they actually charged me, and would refund me when I left.
This is stupid--I had no warning or choice in the matter. Customers who feel out of control of a situation are in are generally not happy ones, so I wasn't happy and didn't agree to it.
Also, the bathtub plug didn't work (which I was looking forward to--having a moment of peace after driving around with children). Of course, I wasn't expected to use that room, but as it was set up to go (unlike the last), I guess that this was assumed to be working. But, I didn't report it to be fixed in the middle of the night, as my kids were finally back asleep.
The breakfast and facilities were very nice as was everything else. I have only compliments for that. If there weren't these problems, I would consider this a great hotel for the price. But, as there were these problems, I would have happily paid more somewhere else in advance to avoid them.
Unfortunately, I recognize that this mistake of the rooms not made up could happen at even the best of hotels, and I get that. It was an accident.
But still, it drastically affects this review and makes me not recommend this hotel, as I put this up on my google review. Not to be a whinny-butt, but I didn't feel like customer satisfaction was a priority although maybe they weren't aware how dissatisfied I was--but do customers always express this? I know so many people who just "suck it up." This hotel is probably great, but I can't recommend it for this reason.
They remedied the situation with the room not being made up, but I felt like they could have gone out of their way to acknowledge that their customer wasn't satisfied and struggled going up and down the elevator with sleepy...
Read moreMy mother and I stayed here overnight before a morning flight out of the Tucson airport. The room was $47/night due to a deal from Hotwire, and we offered to upgrade to two bed for $10 more. The lobby was clean and inviting, with an electric fireplace that is constantly lit. The desk attendant offered us chocolate chip cookies and cold water when we arrived. In the lobby, there was also a small library of books for guests to borrow and return, fresh fruit in the sitting area, a computer-printer workstation, plus coffee and tea available all day in the breakfast area. The hotel also had a heated pool and hot tub available, which we did not visit.
The hotel is three stories, and had a staircase leading to the second floor in the lobby, plus an elevator and at least one full staircase near the side doors. Our room was decently sized with a desk, microwave and refrigerator, and television. The room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. Wifi was free throughout the hotel and did not require a login, just a terms agreement, and was moderately fast. There were a good number of outlets in room for charging electronics, including one on each side of the bed. While room was cozy enough, the walls seemed to be a bit thin, as we could hear people walking around above us and people talking in in hall. However, the noise we heard was indicative of particularly rowdy guests.
We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the airport and for its 24-hour shuttle, however the location was somewhat limiting. There were few dining options in that area and even fewer restaurants/services that delivered to the that area, which was an issue for us as we were dropped off and did not have a vehicle. We ended up walking to sushi place that was down the street (about 15-minute walk). In the morning there's continental breakfast starting at 5 a.m., with hot options available at 6 a.m. I peeked in to see what was available before we left for the airport at 6:40ish, and it was standard hotel fare: waffle maker, eggs, cereal, pastries, bagels, et cetera.
The shuttle was seamless, just head down to the lobby 10 minutes before you want to leave, and someone at the front desk calls the for a shuttle, which appears to be outsourced by a nearby Park-N-Go company. On the whole, it was a good deal. The only reason we might not stay here again before an early flight out is the limited dining options nearby, which is an issue for all the hotels near the airport, and now we know to be better...
Read moreWe are locals and went to this hotel because our home had to be fumigated. We decided to make it a staycation and brought the dogs (2) and all of our gear! First of all we found the best price using an app and when we made the reservation we were advised that we wouldn't get charged anything until AFTER our stay. I am disabled and we needed a downstairs room unless there was an elevator. We were told that the suite designated for disabled guests was already booked but they had a suite next to it that was identical, the ONLY difference was that there was no door bell that lit up for the hearing impaired. That was fine for us. When we pulled up with two dogs in tow the place was clean and orderly from the front lot and top to bottom. Next, the front desk clerk asked if we needed a hand and was happy to see our dogs, even asking their names and such. There was a luggage cart available at the front door, right outside the lobby and the clerk offered to help my partner with our things. The breakfast was free and always had fresh fruit, things were refrigerated and the kitchen staff was friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and sparkling, but not suited for me as I need a wide set of stairs for entry and exit interview the pool but that was fine with me, our son would have loved it though. When we walked the dogs around the grounds there was no trash or litter anywhere, the place was immaculate! The only problem was that there weren't any outdoor trash cans to put the bags for dog poo (we always clean up after our dogs) so we would just leave the bags beside the tree out in the yard. Each time we went back out, the bags were gone! The staff here is amazing! The accommodations we're terrific and the food was great. This year's staycation will be at the Country Inn as well. Also, we needed to do laundry at 2am and when I went to the laundry room it, too, was immaculate, not even any lint in the dryers! I lost a quarter in the vending machine and the front desk clerk just gave me the laundry detergent and fabric softener as well, on the house. This is our #1 recommended hotel...
