Craving an unforgettable mountain experience that blends adventure with luxury? Look no further than The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort in Vail, Colorado. This mountainside gem with European Swiss-inspired rituals was the perfect place to stay for the Taste of Vail, 2024. We arrived at The Hythe & pulled underneath the gorgeous porte-cochere made up of massive wooden beams, cobblestones & antler chandeliers. The Hythe’s lobby reflected the hotel’s overall aesthetic: a blend of alpine comfort & modern luxury. There were large, curved sofas - perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure - surrounding a gorgeous fireplace. The lobby enticed us to linger and soak in the atmosphere; it’s a stunning space. We stayed in a Larger Guest Room: 1 King with Terrace & Firepit. Inside the room, a luxurious king-size bed beckoned. The room felt like an extension of the breathtaking mountain scenery as we could step directly out onto the terrace and enjoy the mountains and crisp air. We had easy access to the slopes via the Eagle Bahn Gondola. We also had access to Vail’s only Himalayan Salt Therapy Lounge. Full review denvher.com 📲 #vail #vailcolorado #thehythevail #thehythe

I booked this as a surprise for my husbands 40th Birthday. I originally booked the room online that was a larger room, with balcony and mountain view. I called the hotel 2 times over the next several weeks to make sure we would be getting a larger room with balcony and mountain view. Since it was my husbands birthday I had completed the online survey that gives the hotel more information about our stay and asked guest services if they could put balloons in our room for his 40th and asked how much it would cost. I never heard back from anyone. When we arrived, we were put on the 1st floor, couldn't see the mountains because we were below the tree line. We then got put in another room that was MUCH smaller and the view of a white tarp. I think it was the older part of the hotel. Obviously unhappy with this, I went to registration for a 3rd time and "the best they could do" was the second floor (which was right above our first room). We stayed in 216, at that point we were not going to move again. Unfortunately again, we weren't even above the tree line so we didn't get the mountain view we paid for. There was a fridge in the room, however, I had to call guests services because it wasn't working. They said the refrigerators needed air circulation and the cabinet doors don't allow for that, so he took the door off the cabinet and said he would get me another mini fridge that was cold. He was super nice and prompt which was much appreciated. Overall- I expected WAY more for $650/night. The room we stayed in was pretty, it just wasn't the mountain view that we paid for, I wouldn't waste your money paying for a view unless you know you're at least on the 3rd floor or higher. FYI: It looked like most of the balconies were shared by 2 rooms. Valet parking is $60/night, we opted to walk to the parking structure 5-7 minutes away and only paid $15 every 24 hours. Room Service- Service was quick, the food was good. They do warn you on the phone about the 25% service charge PLUS a $10 delivery fee. We paid $88 for a pizza and 2 desserts.

We had a 1 bedroom residence which was very small. #489. I would call it a 1 bedroom. First, let me start by saying that it used to be the Marriott, it’s been renovated and the common areas like the restaurant the spa the bar the lobby are very comfortable, beautiful and modern, no problem with this. The problem and warning here are the rooms. The hotel rooms are tiny tiny and we actually stayed in what was called a one bedroom residence, which was small and poorly serviced. All clocks were not set correctly. They all had different times that were way off. There were no hooks to hang any extra ski gear like coming in from a long great day of skiing. The furniture is dreary, and very used like what you would have when you’re like 20 years old and living in a dorm very poorly appointed. Housekeeping missed our coffee grounds and our coffee pot three times and other little comfort details we had to ask for several things which made our staying not as pleasant as we anticipated. The ice maker in fridge not operating. The shower soap holder broke and left. The fridge long door handle dangling, really?! The bathroom is very tiny and very difficult for more than one person to move around. One benefit of the bathroom was that we had two sinks but other than that, it was very tiny and uncomfortable. The door to the master bedroom and bathroom extra skinny and hubby and I are both trim. The staff was very nice and professional-compliments! Simon at front desk a star on checkin!! Caution on #489 the small 1 bedroom residence!!!! Not close to gondola, 10 min walk.

WORST Autograph Collection I have ever stayed at. Do not stay here, avoid at all costs. We are lifetime platinum for those loyal Bonvoy guests.

Overpriced, horrible service shouldn't be an Autograph Collection.

When we arrived the bell man gave us attitude in a way I had never experienced before. A red bearded man with a beanie approached my husband after he parked the car away from the door as he always does since I am disabled. He always checks in to ensure the room is ready before bringing me and my dog up to our room. The bellman told my husband you didn't listen to me when I told you to stop. My husband shared that we didn't need help and we would be parking the car ourself and brining the bags up, the bellman went on to say if you stopped where I told you, you could have brought in your luggage and checked in at the same time. He rolled his eyes at us and literally didn't understand he was there to provide a service that make guest feel welcome. I literally arrived and my first experience made me wish I had never come.

Things get better from here, We went upstairs into our room which was horribly outdated, it looked like Mariott bought a hotel did minimal renovations and slapped an Autograph Collection badge on it. I have stayed at numerous Autograph hotels and they have been my favorites - from the Dorian in Calgary, to the Douglas in Vancouver and the Pearl in Burlington they have ALL been EXCEPTIONAL so why would I think this one would be any different. This hotel is no better then a Holiday Inn and I still to this day regret staying there.

Bed doesn't meet Autograph Collection expectations. Sheets were soft, bed didn't have a pillow top and the best part of all the air vent that push out AC/Heat is directly above the bed so it pores cold air onto you all night. I barely slept and it ruined my day of riding it was so bad.

Bathroom gets even better. They have Byredo which is amazing, I have used it at the Four Season in Montreal and it was to die for. I was so excited to get to the hotel and take a shower and soak in the tub they advertise. The bathtub is the old standup shower they never replaced when they renovated, it is chipped and dirty, I was disgusted and angry but it gets worse. They used to have Molton Brown and since Mariott doesn't use one time use bottle anymore then have them fixed to the wall. Well they were to cheap to updated the fixtures when they switched to Byredo they kept the Molton Brown holders which doesn't prevent visitors from opening the bottle. I was in the shower trying to decompress after an already overwhelming day pump shampoo into my hand start lathering my hair and start to smell a foul disgusting smell realizing its the shampoo. OMG when I say its bad I started panicking in the shower thinking someone had tampered with the product as the top wasn't screwed on. I then tried the conditioner hoping to rid my hair of the horrible smell but it wasn't any better. We called down and asked them to bring up new bottles immediately as I was in the shower dripping wet wanting to take a shower so I could get to bed. No its took 45 minutes for them to bring up new bottles. I was livid.

I was so beyond over this vacation as someone living with a disability we chose to stay here to help make it easier so I could enjoy a day on the mountain. This hotel was the worse Autograph collection I have ever stayed at and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all costs, it is SO OVERPRICED for horrible service, and a horrible room.

Mariott if you are going to allow people to do horrible renovations and grant them Autograph Collection status I hope you know you will be loosing...

The Hythe is an excellent location within walking distance of Lionhead Village, which is the primary advantage and the reason for offering 3 stars. Overall, the problems we experienced were related to employees, and probably poor staff training. The person who checked us in did not do so properly through our American Express booking, so we did not get early check in or late checkout. My husband had to go downstairs that night to straighten it out I make sure that the hotel had late checkout noted on our reservation. Later that day, a male housekeeper came into the women’s bathroom by the Spa when I was alone in the restroom changing. I alerted him to my presence, so he stepped out and then re-entered the bathroom stating, “well I am just going in here,” referencing the janitorial closet located in the women's restroom. At no point did I communicate that I’d be ok with that and was shocked that he decided to stay in the restroom when he knew I was in there. I was very uncomfortable with a male standing between me and the only exit door of the women’s restroom. I then waited until he entered the closet completely and quickly exited the restroom. The refrigerator was broken in our room upon checkin, and I had a few perishable items that needed to be refrigerated. I called down and engineering was supposed to visit an hour later. No one came by. I called again. Engineering then came up to the room, reported the refrigerator inoperable, left, and then returned to install a new refrigerator. While I appreciate the replacement, maintenance checks should be done prior to guest check in to avoid guests dealing with hassles like this. It took a span of about 3 hours of our time.

There was a dog barking across the hallway in another room for about an hour, which was highly annoying. I called the front desk, and the security person checking on this situation knocked on our door right after the engineering guy left to ask which room the dog was in. I didn’t know which room, but the front desk should have the room number for canine guests on record instead of bothering other guests to help the staff do their job. I LOVE dogs and have four of my own, but I don’t care to listen to another person’s dog yapping incessantly at a resort. The person I spoke with assured me that this was not allowed, but I heard the same dog yapping again this morning-so apparently, the owner didn’t get the memo.

Last but not least, we had late checkout at 4pm. Housekeeping began knocking in my door at 11:15AM asking me why I had not checked out. I explained that I had late checkout. Several times. She then asked me what time I was checking out. I repeated that I had late checkout and was not sure of our exact departure time. It is not my obligation to let housekeeping know about my exact departure time, it it is their job to know that late checkout is 4pm. Housekeeping then knocked on our door TWICE more between that time and 2pm asking when we would be checking out. I explained to the same person THREE times that we had late checkout. At that point, why bother staying? The lady drove me nuts, and I’d rather leave the resort than speak with her a fourth time. The Hythe has potential to be great, but it’s not. I would not go back until they retrain the employees or hire a more professional...

We booked a room with two queen beds. Upon arrival, they said we are being offered an upgraded room, king bed loft and pull out couch. Only problem, room wasn’t ready and it would be two hours. Me and my son were ok with this since we were starving and could check out the town. We came back two hours later, to be told it would be another hour before the room is ready. We decided to go to the bar and I would have a drink while we waited. I found the bar staff to be very rude, but I was tired and thought maybe it was just me. We finally get to our room 3 hours after arriving. The views from the rooms were stunning!!!! The room was beautiful!!!! As the night progressed, I thought I would try out the amazing bathtub in the amazing bathroom… it had hair and dried soap all through out the tub… that was a no go! At this time, I told my son to start making his pull out bed for the night. It was 8:30pm… there was no bedding in the room. Check everywhere… and even the CLOSET. I tried to call the front desk, but the phone didn’t work!!!! I grab the room key and trotted my way to the receptionist/check in desks. I inform them and they say they will send someone for house keeping right up. I go back to the room and wait a 1/2 hour. It is 9:15 now. I figured out the phone was unplugged, so I plugged that in and called down. The guy at the front desk told me to check the closet for the bedding, it’s in there. I said I did and it’s not. About 15 minutes later, housekeeping knocks on our door… in she walks with NO BEDDING! I said where is the bedding… she said in the closet…. I said no it’s not, she proceeded to go by me and check the closet!!!!!!! Then she looks at me and says it is on the way. Her helper comes to the room with two sheets. I said where is the blanket and pillows… head housekeeper says it is coming… 😳 they proceed to put the two sheets on the pull out couch, head housekeeper leaves and left her helper on our room staring at us… for 10 minutes.. it was the three of us just silently looking at other. Finally the head keeper comes back with the proper bedding. We had a room booked…. They upgraded us and made us wait 3 hours to check in and then housekeeping treated me like I was lying And inhabited my room for at least a half hour… and yet the tub was dirty! So wild…. I will never stay at this place again. Oh the next night, at 9:30 pm… we are in bed and we get a knock from housekeeping delivering coffee!!! We never ordered coffee…. Again will never stay in this overpriced, rude housekeeping,...
