Playmakers Sports Bar + Grill — Restaurant in Vancouver

Another disappointing visit to Playmakers Hazel Dell. Keep trying to give them second, third, and fourth tries because I want to support local businesses but they failed again.

Arrived at 9am on a Saturday for breakfast. With a total of 8 customers in the place the service was still horrible. The dining room was uncomfortably cold and No coffee until about 15 minutes after ordering.

Wife ordered potato pancakes and I ordered Dutch Baby pancake. I was notified several minutes later that batter had not been made yet, I was told they could make it now but it would take about 20 minutes. Looking for a faster breakfast I changed order to the carnivore scramble.

24 minutes after placing my order for the second time our breakfast was served. I said that since it’d been 24 minutes since placing the order I thought perhaps they actually did make the Dutch baby batter and was told the age old story “sorry..they’re short handed in the kitchen”.

Scramble was good and served hot but wife’s potato pancakes were rubbery with one actually being cold. More than halfway through the meal the server checked on us and we told her about the poor quality. Again “sorry” and asked if she wanted something else to which we replied we don’t have the time for a second round.

So...

Looks cool. Service was bad. Food wasn't great. Paid 80$ after tip for 1 beer, 2 drinks, a burger, and a small bowl of Mac. Didn't even bother to put the beer in a glass. Wouldn't recommend.

Edit for owner response: Prices are crazy, but not that crazy. We went back in the following day to inquire about the bill. Apparently, your server did not ring up the order correctly. The service was not great. She promptly handled her friends whom had just walked in, before coming to us. She spent more time talking to her friends than she did working. The food wasn't great either. Why ask me how I want my burger cooked if you're going to bring it out half raw in the first place? I had to get my own napkins and silverware because after she dropped off our food she went to chat with the guys at the bar for 10min. Our visit was "probably" a fluke. But with 5 people in the building, it should not have been that bad. I had to eat that sloppy mess with fork. Who eats a burger...

Great set up for friends and fun. Sports bar deluxe------Big screens all around , never miss the game you want to watch. Convenient location with plenty of parking , Playmakers was a positive experience for me and my friends. Festive , fun atmosphere greets you the minute you walk into Playmakers. Once seated, service for our group was prompt and positive. Drinks came out quickly and food followed soon thereafter. The Huckleberry mule was tasty and fairly potent. The bacon wrapped prawns were off the charts good. I mean bacon wrapped anything , is a great start but these totally hit the spot and the slice of buttered Texas toast was perfect for sopping up the cheesy sauce bathing those prawns. Reasonable price--about $41.00 for the prawns and the drink ,generous tip included Clean restrooms.
