I have been staying at this hotel since right after it first built and I’ve followed it through multiple renovations and issues. I have not stayed here since before the pandemic and it has been renovated once again since I was last here. So, to point out once again, what do I look for in a hotel stay? Is it safe? Is it reasonably clean? Can I get a good night’s sleep? Does the air conditioning work well? How is the water pressure? Does the internet work well? With respect to all these basics, things are reasonably good but there are other issues that were annoying on our recent stay. | |But to being in order: This hotel has always and continues to feel safe. This time it was particularly crowded but still, all seemed well, and I was not concerned for my vehicle or my person during the stay. ||Upon our arrival in the room, the window shade was open, the room faced west, and the air conditioning was turned completely off – the room was hot. I immediately closed the shade which was interesting: it is not the usual curtain that one slides together, both the curtain (shade) and the light blocking shade are screens on a track that have to be wound down. The light blocking screen was partly out of the track and wouldn’t come down until I stuffed it back in as best I could and forced it. The air conditioning worked, but slowly and even hours later, in the middle of the night, the room was not acceptably cool. ||This room has a tile floor in the vestibule, then carpet. The tile floor is either deteriorating or it has a sticky substance on it. My wife actually acquired some paper towels and tried to wipe whatever it was up, though not very successfully. A report of the issue to the desk clerk had no result. Otherwise the room seemed quite clean. ||The internet worked well and was easy to connect The water pressure was good but there is a problem with the shower, and it seems a problem with all the bathroom configurations I’ve experienced with this chain. They use a shower, not a tub, and glass entry doors, not a shower curtain. The problem with this current system is that the shower door rolls shut but when completely pushed as far as it will go, there’s still about an inch and a half of space between the wall and the door, allowing water to escape around it. To add to that, the door did not stay in place but kept rolling back open. We had to push it shut over and over again while showering. Also, there is only one place to hang up a wet towel so if there are two people, you’re out of luck since there’s no curtain rail to use for that purpose. The sink and counter are inside the bathroom and shower room and is small, so only one person can get ready at the same time. One good thing: there is a working exhaust fan in the enclosed bathroom. ||With respect to getting a good nights sleep, this hotel has a problem which is that sound from the outside, especially the room above, intrudes. We had just stayed a week at a lower rated hotel and never heard our neighbors above or to either side. Not so here: we could hear people talking in te hall, we could readily hear anyone walking above. We had planned to sleep a little later but the people walking around in the room above disturbed us and when they left, the hotel staff started cleaning the room above us and woke us up with the vacuum cleaner running over the floor. And even with the white noise fan that I carry, you could hear this noise, and noise in the hallway. Not a place to stay late and a problem when your neighbors above or to the side come back in the early hours. ||Finally, the electrical configuration of the outlets is just strange. I plugged in my computer to a wall outlet, but when I turned off a light about four feet away on that same wall, the outlet turned off. And the lights and outlets on the side tables of the bed module didn’t work at all. I looked to see if the bed was plugged in and it was on a side wall, and there was a light switch that was turned off, once turned on, the bed outlets and lights worked. There are no instructions pointing out the use of these switches. And the one in the vestibule is wired backwards. These things were not dangerous, just annoying. ||But the entire stay was a disappointment, particularly considering my previous stays here. The current renovation has not served them well. As convenient as this place is for my business work, I may be looking...
Read moreDefinitely not like the pictures shown on all the various websites. Was in for a family get-together in the area. First time in Wake Forest since the population boom. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating. And probably the best thing about this place. The owner Mr. Patel is very nice also. However the pool and hot tub they so pleasantly advertise was not too pleasant. First of all we got there hot tub did not even work. And the water looked very dirty. The pool was also not looking to swell as far as water quality. Plus they did not practice social distancing. So I did not get to use the pool or the hot tub. Because every time I had time to use it social distancing was not in place. There was a group of reservists that had a party there every night. And they did not seem to care about social distancing whatsoever. I've been a reservist before and I have used Sleep Inn's in the past so I know all about drill weekend. Also a lot of the Sleep Inn's I have visited during my military career both active and Reserves we're at a higher standard than this one seem to be. So I don't really fault the reservist I fault the people managing the place. For not telling them they should spread out and not gang up in the pool area so much. They should have told them to spread out more and not have over 10 people in the same area. But it was such a small area and things weren't working well with the hot tub so really if you're looking for a great pool and hot tub situation this is not it. This place did not have the three C's going of a great Hotel . That's cost-effectiveness , great cleanliness , and great customer service. They had some places in the building that look like they toward the back and second floor toward that were way below standards of a great remodeled Hotel. They also had a air conditioner in the hallway on third floor that was not working properly. And the back hallway going down from third floor look like a child had thrown paint all over the carpet. When I checked in we had to clean our own room. The room was not too bad overall and had been remodeled. But we had to sterilize the bathrooms and the floors. Found a human hair on the bed sheets. So we sterilized that also. But even though there was not supposed to be anybody over our head. One of the other big problems with this hotel was the very thin walls. You could hear somebody's conversation out in the hallway while you were going by their rooms. Every now and then you could hear hallway noise when people walk on the floor. If you are going by the pictures of this place online like me you will be discouraged when you get here. However if you're just looking for a place to rest your head this might do the trick. For just a quick stay however if you're wanting the amenities they advertise you'll be heavily discouraged. The fitness room was very good except for a non-working elliptical ,which had a short circuit in it and it would just stop working. They should only charged me $59 a night or less for this place. Their average price however is around $89 a night trust me this place is not worth it yet. The locals here recommend the older Hampton Inn ,Fairfield Marriott and the Holiday Inn Express which may offer better working amenities. Front desk staff and owner however are excellent at this place. So maybe eventually they will get this place running real smoothly. Right now currently this is not up for the standards of a regular Sleep Inn hotel. May you seek your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God...
Read moreLet’s see where to start I should have read the reviews. I booked this hotel because I was doing a many birthday photo shoot and the pics had great views on the website. Front desk staff and housekeeping was friendly the reason they get a star. Day 1: room appeared to be decent until we noticed the minor details. The walls were paper thin. You can hear the bed hitting the wall in the next room. Had to call front desk. Later that night the ppl upstairs sounded like the bed was going to fall through the roof. We were tired so we dealt with it. Day 2: Breakfast was horrible. They are still on grab and go which most choice hotels are not anymore. The breakfast attendant was kind of rude as she stood over the drink machine on her phone the whole time. She claimed they are still following covid protocol but how if their are no social distance signs, dining room tables fully open and pool the same way. Pool was disgusting. It had murky brim film in it and looked dirty. We asked who cleans it they said it was self cleaning. Walked around to the outside patio which is really why I choose the hotel the furniture overloaded with rips and tears. Plant vases are busted and broken. Walk back inside see a pool table. It’s stained and dirty. No pool sticks. A locked cabinet where they might’ve been with a baby doll sits there on top of it. I had a couple of friends get rooms there since I wanted to take photos. Proceeded to take pics by the pool and was approached by a staff member. She stated that we couldn’t take pics anywhere on the premises without permission from their manager. Little did they know that a manager from a choice hotel was with us. Front desk was good at accepting my package I had delivered. Housekeeping offered service although if they were following the covid protocol they would have offered it every 3 days. Back to the room they had a sheet over the comforter I guess to hide the tears and holes. 2 pieces of floor board was missing bathroom seemed like it had a gun shot hole at the bottom of the door both sides and one bed had a mattress cover the other didn’t. That night same issues with the thin walls. So a bug in the room. Best thing about the hotel it’s pet friendly and has beautiful paintings . The managers office looks dirty and dusty from the outside front view. I should’ve asked for my money back but i didn’t because I stayed. This makes me sad being that I am an actual choice employee. I expected so much more oh and the gym area had a air conditioning unit laying on the floor. As well as dirty towels. The hall way had tile sticking out and coming up. I have pictures to back up...
