If you love big, heavy furniture and lots of knickknacks, the AC, at first glance, may not seem ideal for you.
That being said, I encourage you to slow down and think about what you really want from your hotel. While minimalistic in decor, the lobby, buffet breakfast room and tables, as well as the beautiful bar front and center -- all on the lobby level - feature clean, straight lines, comfortable seating, and a surprisingly quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of shopping or business meetings. Take the elevator to your room's floor and the door opens up to a clean, quiet hallway where your room awaits your arrival.
Once inside, you will find the beds to be very comfortable and the lightweight comforter a treat to snuggle down in. The bathroom is good-sized -- (you can leave your hair dryer and shampoo/conditioner at home) -- with a lovely shower featuring a rain shower shower head in the middle, as well as a hand-held shower option. The rest of the room has all your basic needs: a good-sized closet, a small refrigerator, and a nice flat-screen tv. The lighting in the room is warm and unique, and the views out the large windows are great, regardless of which side you are on.
The location is terrific: the bridgewalk spanning the Scioto River from "new" Dublin to "old" Dublin is marvelous, offering great views in every direction as well as easy access between the "old" & the "new" -- and, it's a walk of just a few minutes from the hotel. The A.C. is on the "new" side of Dublin, meaning you have a plethora of both casual and elegant bars and restaurants to choose from, all within walking distance of the hotel.
Also convenient is the free parking garage directly across from hotel lobby.
What you won't find at the A.C. is a hotel restaurant, although the breakfast buffet offers a delightful culinary experience. No restaurant means noroom service for meals, which may or may not be important to you. There is a nicely equipped exercise area and indoor pool that should meet the needs of most fitness enthusiasts.
A special note about the security the A. C. offers: just imagine TOTAL peace of mind. All elevators going to the room levels require a keycard before they will advance. Accordingly, your keycard will take you to YOUR floor, and no further. If you want to access the lovely rooftop bar on level 8, go back to the lobby and take the rooftop express elevator.
All in all, we would rate the quiet atmosphere and uncluttered feel of the A.C. as its best feature. Don't let the lack of a full restaurant put you off - you can order and carry out anything that suits your fancy, and it is all just away...
Read moreReally enjoyed our stay. The room was super clean (much appreciated). The staff was awesome - check-in and the cleaning staff (always cheerful, saying hello in the hallways). We had to change our room at check-in because the first room was too noisy just above the traffic circle on Riverside Drive. Check-in staff was terrific in changing our room to one that faced the parking deck side -- super quiet and much better for us. We really liked the long bench along the wall opposite the bed, as we were able to put our luggage (we used plastic bags under the luggage to protect the bench) on the bench instead of on the floor for ease of use. Very nice shower stall, plenty of hot water, nice bathroom, comfortable bed, good lighting (we could see for a change!). The room was a bit small, but that didn't bother us in the least. There is no closet, just a short rack for hanging clothing, but it was enough for us to hang our coats and the outfits we were wearing to a wedding. We were very happy to have a safe.....at chest level (no bending down). It would have been nice to have more than 2 cups; fortunately, we always travel with our own collapsable silicone cups, so we were fine. We wish the grab-and-go breakfast items had been included in the price of the room; we weren't expecting fees for each item (muffin, apple, etc.) -- we thus passed on that. We had brought our own organic cereal and dairy-free milk & yogurt (small refrigerator worked well), but we had wanted to supplement with a banana, but we survived with no problems. Location was fantastic. Walked all around the Dublin area near the hotel and took the pedestrian bridge to walk all around historic Dublin as well (check out Jeni's ice cream - they even had 3 vegan options (I tried one scoop each of two flavors - fabulous!). We also took one of the hiking trails along the river one afternoon. Never had a problem finding a parking space in the deck across the street -- and parking is free. We are glad our friends used the AC Dublin as the "wedding hotel" for out-of-town guests. We were very comfortable and happy with our stay. Kudos again to the super...
Read more-Adding to this review after another week of stay. The staff has been absolutely fantastic. Derek, Maci, Shay, and Aisha continues to impress me with their professionalism and kindness, and truly making me feel at home during my business trip here in Columbus, OH. Coming from someone who rarely leave reviews with over 100+ nights stayed this year, I feel fortunate to have found this property and will be staying here for the foreseeable future.
Hotel was absolutely beautiful. The room was without a doubt one of the nicest I've stayed at, it is very modern and sleek with great view of the Scioto river. However, it was the staff who impressed me the most, which is why I'm compelled to write this review.
First things first, there are various construction happening around the hotel which made it difficult to find initially. There is no valet parking, but you can park inside the parking garage (which is also under construction) right next to the hotel, for free. Lastly, the rooftop bar is not yet available. Having said that, none of these things bothered me in any way during my stay.
I've stayed at several other AC hotels around the country, due to the quality and unique design of the rooms. This one was no different, it is very modern and unique compared to your traditional Marriott hotels. However, I was disappointed to find that there was a high pitched sound coming from the USB+power outlets in the room, which I was unable to ignore. I let the front desk know, and they promptly looked into the matter while providing an another room without the same issue. I was extremely impressed with Shay and Aisha, who handled the situation professionally and did everything they could to resolve the issue.
For the rest of the week of my stay, the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to meet my requests. The room was cleaned well and I had absolutely no problems that I can think of. Due to this, I plan on staying at this hotel during my entire stay in...
