I am updating my previous 5 star review for White of Dublin as my experience drastically changed after my first appointment. Apologies for the length. At my first appointment in January of 2022 a woman named Magdalena helped me. Magdalena was wonderful, but following this appointment my experience became extremely negative.
The dress I tried on had a bow in the picture. They did not have it in store. This bow was a big draw for me to buy the dress. We discussed it throughout the entire process and it was understood that we wanted it. We ordered and paid for the dress.
When it arrived on August 31st we happened to ask how the dress looked with the bow. They realized they had not ordered it. The dress came from Spain and they communicated right away with the seller to get it ordered, which was appreciated. They seemed worried, but also assured us there would be a bow. However, at this point in the process I was already feeling like I was being blamed for the mishap. Turns out the bow technically did not come with the dress and I would have been happy to still purchase it if I had known.
I live in Denver, CO and my family lives in Cleveland, OH so I had already booked flights to Cleveland to then drive the 2+ hours to Dublin, OH for my fitting two weeks later. My wedding date was also less than a month away (October 7th). Shipping takes time so this was a huge concern, but I was assured I would have a bow.
At my first fitting it had not arrived. They had a back up bow from another designer, which was fine for the moment. The operations manager was not there, but I was assured by the woman working there that Lissa (the operations manager) said it would arrive on the day of my next appointment, October 3rd. We scheduled for the late afternoon to ensure it would be there. There was NO transparency about their concern that it may not arrive in time for the wedding at all. My mom called twice leading up to this final appointment. She was checking to see if it had arrived and was not given an answer, instead being told “Lissa said we agreed to the fitting on October 3rd at 4:00” - ignoring our question.
On October 3rd, the tailor, who does not work at White of Dublin, was there along with one other woman who had let her in. This employee stayed in the back office while we asked the tailor about the bow. It was not there. We had to ask the employee in the back if we could talk to Lissa. Lissa was not there due to a family emergency, which is fine, but we weren’t told ahead of time or when we arrived that she wasn’t there. We also had to seek out answers from this employee ourselves. She was texting with Lissa who said she would call us in the morning. I took my dress home with the back up bow, per our request, because I would not be able to drive back to get it and was not going to risk leaving my wedding dress behind.
Lissa did NOT call us the next morning. I called her around 4:30pm. She was curt and talked over me (telling me I had never been told thebow would be in on October 3rd, only the week of the wedding). Her manner was extremely dismissive. She said when it arrived they would overnight ship it to me. When it arrived on Wednesday afternoon I asked a friend who lived nearby to pick it up instead. She brought it to me the next day with a blunt note and NO snaps to attach it to my dress. I used the backup bow instead.
I typically don’t leave poor reviews, preferring to communicate directly with a business, but this experience warranted a review for others choosing this dress shop. The place has beautiful gowns and Magdalena was great, but the overall experience was awful. I wish Lissa had been transparent from the start and/or taken ownership of the situation. It became less about the bow and more about customer service. I do...
Read moreI do not have anything but glowing things to say about White of Dublin and the fabulous owners, Heather and Diane. I actually live in Chicago but was in Columbus visiting family/friends so my mom made an appointment at White and I'm so glad she did! Upon our arrival Heather greeted us with champagne, let us walk around the store, and began telling us about some of the designers. The boutique is very beautiful and upscale but still manages to be very warm and inviting. White only takes one appointment at a time so we had the whole boutique to ourselves - the personalized service and attention was wonderful! They carry a number of unique, carefully chosen designers that I hadn't seen elsewhere, even in a big city like Chicago. Heather and Diane are so passionate about what they do and the designers they work with and it really shows. I was pretty sure I had already found a dress on a previous shopping trip, but I was proved wrong when I saw their beautiful, unique gowns! After trying on a few dresses Heather brought me a gorgeous Sassi Holford gown that I had passed by as I wasn't sure I would like it. A lot of times it's difficult to see a dress on a hanger and know what it will look like on, but Heather had really listened to me and knew exactly what I was looking for and that I would love the dress. When I put it on I felt so beautiful and I loved it more than I thought I could ever love a dress. I wanted a bit of time to make my final decision so Heather even let me come back the next day to try it on again and I purchased the dress!!! I cannot wait to wear the dress on my wedding day and I know I never would have found it without the help of White of Dublin, Heather, and Diane! I feel so lucky! I had a such a wonderful experience and highly recommend...
Read moreWhile my budget wouldn't allow for me to purchase a dress from this lovely shop, Diane and Heather have created a wonderful place for those who can afford the price of a designer dress.
I came in off the street, never having heard of White of Dublin, and even though I had no appointment, they made me feel very welcome. Diane picked out a stunning dress, perfect for my figure, that made me feel more beautiful than I have probably ever felt in my life. Heather and she were very accomodating and didn't try to push anything on me, but were very knowledgable in dresses that would flatter my figure. Their stock of dresses is not large, like another reviewer said, but they are all stunning and of quality material.
During the process of trying on dresses, I was brought champagne and a cheese/fruit tray was set out next to a plush sofa in a beautifully decorated room. They truly made me feel like royalty and were so warm.
Heather worked the numbers as much as she could to get the dress down to a more affordable rate, but given our wedding date, it was just not possible for my fiance and I to pull it off on time. I was very tempted to push the wedding date back a full year to make the dress happen, partially because I loved these ladies and wanted to give them my business, an partially because I fell in love with the dress.
If you have at least a $2,000 budget for your dress or some time to make payments before the big day (they do offer a payment plan, which is very nice), you MUST check out White of Dublin. I promise, even if you don't find the dress, you won't regret...
