Disappointing painful experience, manipulative transactional technician, and the feedback provided by them below is a complete lie. The Chinese staff would easily insult you in their mother tongue, presuming that no one understands them.
I had a total of four appointments with Penny. During the first appointment, she was incredibly professional and polite, and the quality of the lash work was excellent—they lasted a long time. Based on this positive experience, I decided to purchase a package of 10 appointments, paying the full amount in advance and in cash, believing the quality and professionalism would remain consistent.
Unfortunately, things took a sharp turn after that. Penny’s professionalism, punctuality, and the quality of her work declined significantly. For every subsequent appointment, she was 20–30 minutes late which she never seemed to feel bad for, and the lash extensions were no longer up to the high standard I experienced in the first session, despite me maintaining the same at-home care routine.
The final appointment was the most disappointing. Penny started 30 minutes late yet again and, shockingly, began insulting me in Chinese with her colleague, unaware that I am fluent in the language. This experience left me feeling insulted, manipulated, and deeply disrespected. I ultimately walked out with lashes on one eye and the other left unfinished, as I could no longer tolerate the situation. She also spilled glue into my eye and one of my eye was bloody red for a week!!! (In the feedback below, she is shamelessly lying that I received a service from her during my last appointment. I walked out without even getting any refill or proper removal.)
Once payment for 10 appointments was made in advance, the quality of service, professionalism, and friendliness completely disappeared. My advice to anyone considering this salon is simple: do not pay in advance, they will smiles at you but at the same time insult you in Chinese. Doing so may lead to a noticeable drop in service quality and, as in my case, even...
Read moreI used to love coming here — Penny and Fabiola were always kind, skilled, and welcoming. I actually came before all my big events - anniversary, engagement, everything. Penny even offered a neighborhood discount, which made me feel like a valued regular. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience.
Carolin did my lashes and while she was very nice, they started falling apart after just 2–3 days. I appreciated that they offered a complimentary fix, but when I showed up slightly late to the appointment, they said they couldn’t finish everything and asked me to come back. I get that timing matters, and I’m not defending being late, but things happen.
We rescheduled for Friday (which I later couldn’t make due to a work emergency). Initially, I was told Tuesday was okay, only to be informed hours later that Tuesday would actually cost me — meaning I’d have to pay again to fix lashes that already didn’t hold up, even after I had paid $100+ and tipped 25%.
It’s clear that without Penny around, the quality and customer service have dropped. The newer staff just don’t meet the same standard. DC is a big city with plenty of options, so I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Thanks to Carolin for being kind — but I won’t be coming back.
I want to clarify this isn’t a “Karen” review; I actually came back here for the obvious reasons, but any place can go into abysmal...
Read moreIf I can give this place 0 stars I would. I came here for a lash lift and tint/brow wax; I was not acknowledged upon entering the establishment. I sat for an additional 25 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. When i was finally seated the technician; Penny, seemed rather inpatient when i had questions regarding the process. She said; & I quote “maybe you should go somewhere else if you have so many questions”. There’s multiple reasons as to why this response was inappropriate but that wasn’t the worst part. My eyes burned intensely throughout the entire service. I’ve gotten multiple lash lifts before & they have never been uncomfortable let alone painful. At the end of my service; I asked her if I was eligible for a percentage off considering her tardiness & inability to safely/effectively complete the service. She immediately said no. I went on to explain that I didn’t think it was fair considering how my appointment went. There was a brief back and forth to which she ended in saying; again I quote “Black people always want a discount” i was astonished beyond explanation of how effortlessly and unapologetically she said it. I paid my remaining balance and left without saying anything else. There’s so much that can be said but i will leave it there. The owner is a blatant racist & I wouldn’t feel safe having her that close to my...
