The West Main is wonderfully appointed with a mix of old and new. There were only five reviews but we took a chance. The reviews were spot on! We stayed in the Chart Room Studio.
What was great: Super easy entry, elevator for such a small building. In room granite counter kitchenette with drawer refrigerators, dishes, microwave, full size kitchen sink Well appointed bath with large shower heads, glass tile. Room has pine floors, , 12 ft ceilings, beautiful moulding, huge windows. There was even an HDMI cord and first aid kit!
What was not so great: The hotel entryway needed cleaning. The room is very clean, except for the large cobweb in the window behind the bed (unseen when the drapes are closed, but I needed the outlet behind the drape). A window is behind the bed without a headboard, so we couldn't sit up in bed. There is no bottled water. The four-poster bed post inhibits TV viewing from the far side of the bed. The drapes are very difficult to open more than a few inches. The mattress needs turning. There's a niche that begged for a small desk or table instead of a bookcase. Hope no one is in the building next door, or walking down the street, outside the bathroom--with the lights on at night there's NO privacy near the sink thanks to sheers and top half uncovered windows.
Overall it needs a bit of tweaking, but the experience and amenities are well worth the price. We'd revisit if we're ever in Washington again. Far better than any chain hotels in the area. It's difficult to have a custom room without dropping small details and upkeep.
I give it five stars for service because in an age when hotels are so busy cutting down on amenities and trusting customers in general, this place makes you feel like you're staying in a nice guest room in someone's home. Four stars for the room because of form over function. The location is great for...
Read moreWe had the opportunity to stay July 4th and everything exceeded our expectations. Every detail is well thought out and is very luxurious. The rooms are simply stunning and so ridiculously comfortable. Loved the natural light coming in through the bathroom and love the blend of the historic elements of the building combined with elegance. The rooms have everything you need whether you are just staying a few nights or for an extended stay. If you have mobility issues that is not an issue here for the roomy elevator and the layout of the rooms makes it very easy and comfortable. The location cannot be beat and you can walk to cute shops, great restaurants, coffee shops and the waterfront. Our favorite spot ended up being just downstairs at the 1906 Bistro where the food and drinks exceeded our expectations and just enjoyed relaxing. I guarantee you will not regret choosing to stay here and will want to definitely come back! Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Washington area! Perfect place to stay for events such as family gatherings, weddings and events at ECU such as game days or...
Read moreOur weekend getaway to Little Washington was made truly memorable by our stay at The West Main. Nestled in the heart of Washington, NC, this newly renovated building seamlessly blends historic charm with modern comforts. From the moment we stepped into our room on the 3rd floor, we were impressed by the attention to detail. The room was exquisitely furnished and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, from the dishwasher to the silverware. The preservation of original historic doors added a unique touch, reminding us of the building's rich heritage. The convenience of the elevator was a blessing, especially as we had quite a few bags with us. And being situated above the 1906 Bistro and Bourbon bar was a delightful bonus. We indulged in late-night bourbon and snacks without having to venture far from our cozy room. Overall, our experience at The West Main surpassed our expectations. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect blend of history, convenience, and comfort during their visit to Little Washington. Thank you for a...
