We have been here at this marina for over a week and plan to stay for a couple months. The dock attendants are very helpful and if you give them a call ahead they’ll come right out and help you tie the boat up.
This marina is within walking distance of everything in historic downtown Washington, NC There are numerous restaurants, shops of all kinds and services close to this marina. There’s a great ice cream shop called Scoops, a post office you can walk to also. A regular grocery store is about 2 miles away- ( Walmart or Food Lion), but there are smoothie shops, bakeries, coffee shops bourbon bars and seafood restaurants all a stones throw from the waterfront. Also places to get your haircut and souvenirs galore.
The showers are great and very clean and there’s laundry on site. If you have something larger like a comforter to wash- there’s a laundromat about a mile away called the Wash house that has giant washers.
This marina also borders an estuarium with a great boardwalk. You can see Blue Heron, snapping turtles and fish of all kinds. Nice park right next to the marina for kids or pets - with playground equipment. Several churches within walking distance for those wanting to find a service to attend. Also a great self guided historic walking tour featuring plaques that enlighten you on local history and heroes. Plaque’s on historic homes as well.
We highly recommend this stop if you’re in the area and looking for a place to recharge. There’s pump out service for $5.00. I have NOT noticed fuel here, but we have a sailboat and don’t currently need it. Not sure where nearest fuel...
Read moreWhat an awesome spot for locals, tourists, and especially boaters. Newly updated main street and the harbor are beautiful. The shopping , dining, and nightlife is walking distance from the docks. A harbor master stationed in a lighthouse too long ho is the key for all the amenities traveling boaters would need. Boutique bistros breweries and distilleries as well as full service restaurants give off a college park vibe for those of use who “don’t act our age” The Pamlico/Tar River system offers a wide range of fishing options and water born activities. This month alone i have caught all manner of fresh and salt water species within sight of the dock. From blue fish , Spanish slot size and Bull Reds and occasional tarpon, to striped and largemouth bass catfish crappie specks flounder and sunfish from a kayak. The brackish water from salt and fresh “mixing” in the sound is a true wonder of nature. The revitalized main street and Waterfront on such a healthy river is rare and not to be missed. Even if you have never been on a boat, just passing thru or lived here...

There are Restaurants in the area, visitor center near by, souvenir shops all topped off with swinging benches, play grounds and views that are to die for. The Docks face the South West so you and the family can enjoy some the best sun sets views in the area. If you own a boat then you've found a great place to keep it but if you don't, there are plenty of boats for rent in all different shapes and sizes. We visited in June 2020 so Covid restrictions kept some of the businesses from opening however when the state returns to it's norm you can expect even more restaurants, a museums and more.
All in all the Washington Waterfront Docks is a great place to spend some family time, relaxing walks or just bring the little ones to experience the boating community. Go and see for your self, you...
