An extremely frustrating experience. I have been using Stop & Shop self-checkout since ~2005. I understand how it works and that it can sometimes be finicky. But my God, the new self-checkout machines at this store have got to be the most over-engineered garbage I have had the misfortune of using. Not only do I have to make sure the weight of my items is properly distributed, but the camera above decided a receipt from a previous customer sitting in the bagging area was cause to completely lock up and call an attendant after every single item for the rest of the checkout even after the paper was removed. Any speed i would have gained was lost as i had to wait for 2 separate attendants to count my 8 items to make sure i wasnt trying to steal my overpriced roll of aluminum foil.
This quick 8 item purchase took almost 30 minutes, and cost 50% more than it would have last year. To complete this capitalistic hellscape nightmare, as I am l eaving the store, a cheerful voice over the parking lot loudspeaker reminds me I am being recorded. Read moreI've shopped at Stop n Shop for decades, including this location in Waterbury. You have an elderly woman employee who is beyond rude. Whenever a self checkout gets stuck, she has been nothing but condescending and extremely rude. She speaks to me as if I am too stupid to live and like I don't know what I'm doing. I've been shopping since I was a teenager for my family, so for over 20 years. I use self checkout successfully everywhere and never have any issues at ShopRite, Walmart, etc. Any hangups are handled swiftly and without issue at other stores. And I haven't had any issues with your other employees. This older woman and I'm uncertain of her name - has always treated me with disdain including at your old location near Walmart. I don't know if she has a problem with Hispanics or what. The way I'm spoken to by her is in a tone filled with hate. I spend hundreds of dollars a week at your store and deserve to be treated better. She clearly hates her job and should be fired for treating...

Might as well let bums stand in front of the doors there and ask for money who care if you a cheerleader no body got money for that right now then you say no and looking at you some type of way im calling corporate other wise you gonna loose customers. I always come here and only here and I'm getting annoyed with people. That's herrasment. Also the white lady at the customer service desk first shift she is very rude and looks racist she should not be in the customer service desk im never coming to this stop n shop again and I'm gonna spread the word. Ever since they moved across the street this store is the worse it looks better but the employees forget it the deli is a problem customer service and the beggers at the door asking for money never again.
