Wow. Just wow.
I've never had an experience like my daughter and I just had at Motel 6 Waukegan. I can't really think of anything positive to say. Things were si bad that I'm going to have tonwork with my bank to try and get my money back, even though we only stayed 12 hours of a 4 day reservation.
First and foremost, they have a cockroach problem. The kid behind the counter, who did seem genuinely upset that there are cockroaches, informed me that they've "tried everything" to get rid of them, and they're still around. I had two rooms between two different buildings and saw roaches in both of them. Unfortunately, the roaches are far from the only issue.
In room one, the floor tiles have gaps in them, like someone just threw them down and just didn't care enough to fix them. Linens were stained or not cleaned. This includes towels and sheets. Every surface had a weird film on it and visible signs of A LONG TIME without any sort of real cleaning.
The shower had a mat, but all it did was turn the shower floor into a mini ice rink with all of the slipping and sliding we did. Before seeing any roach, I did have to kill some weird bug in the bathroom. The shower head didn't move at all, and the water pressure was basically non-existent. No maintenance on aging and poorly maintained items such as doors, tub, toilet, and sink.
After capturing and bringing the roach from pic one to the front desk, I was given a second room in a second building on the property. This one was FAR worse in every single way than the original horrible room. It doesn't seem to have even been cleaned for a long time. A much thicker and nastier film, often times visibly yellow/orange in color, was over everything in the room. Most items were in some stage of disrepair and dire need of upkeep, maintenance, or outright replacement. Again, roaches were found, which evaded my camera. I was able to get a video of some crazy loud sound we had dealt with for hours and a dead cockroach with some disgusting substance all around it. At this point, my daughter and I refused to even sleep and just focused on finding new accommodations.
The rest of the property was just as bad. Outside, especially between the two buildings, people hung out smoking by the doors. Many interior doors were broken, and the whole place was in dire need of cleaning. There are no amenities at all, not even a coffee pot in the lobby, not that I would have trusted anything there. The area is horrible unless you drive. No sidewalks, crosswalks, or anything else to allow for a walking trip anywhere.
As I said, we ended stay 12 hours of a 4-night reservation because of everything. It would have been less than 12 hours, but we spent 6 hours at Great America before it all went bad. The motel refused to refund me ANY money, so now I am going to have to pull my bank and others into this mess to get...
Read moreTerrible service!!! Bed bugs!!! I went here because of the price first of all,but the saying goes you get what you pay for. Right when I came into the room I checked for bed bugs on the mattress and there was. They we're on the sheets and even under the sheets. When I went to the front desk to ask for a refund the guy told me that he couldn't and that his manager has to approve it,so I said ok call your manager. As I was at the front desk two more people came into the lobby and had the same issue and even had a picture of multiple bed bugs. I just went through this same issue with another place but got a refund and even there insurance settled a refund and even property damage and bodily harm money for their problem and we're sorry about the issue that came about to me at their establishment. Unlike this place the manager told me I won't get a refund and that house keeping would do a check to see if their was and to confirm my accusation. I told the manager I had money to go anywhere else and I would be on the streets if I didn't get a refund to go somewhere else. I also told him I don't feel safe sleeping in any of these rooms because it wasn't just us that was complaining. He told me that he could put me in another room and that's it. I told him I don't feel safe here and certainly wouldnt have a good night sleep just knowing there could possibly be bed bugs in another room since there was us and another couple complaining about the issue. He told me it isn't his problem where I stay even if it is outside because we had a room there that we paid for. I advise anyone who reads this to take my review seriously because if you do get bed bugs from here and take them home with you then it will be very expensive and stressful dealing with what you have to do exterminate all of them. The manager was very disrespectful and even started yelling and cussing at us. But even better yet the first room they put us in wasn't even cleaned from the last people that were there. I hope you take my advice about this and if you don't I wish you luck and...
Read moreI've stayed at Motel 6 all over the country and this is by far THE WORST motel/hotel I have EVER stayed at! My wife, my mother, and I all flew to the Waukegan area to watch my son graduate from Navy basic training. After a long day of flying from our respective home states (California and Florida) and a drive down from the Milwaukee airport, we got to the hotel late Thursday night. The check-in process went smoothly, but that was the end of satisfaction! Here's a list of the bad: When we opened the door to the building that our room was in, the smell of smoke was so strong! It was as bad as a Las Vegas casino floor! The smell was almost as bad in our room, especially every time the furnace blower would kick on. My mom went to wash her face in the sink and abruptly found out that the hot and cold water was reversed. The floor of the bath/shower was absolutely ridiculous! (I have a picture) There were three cigarette burn holes in the sheet of my mom's bed and one in the bedspread. (I have pictures) The smoke detector had been removed and there were just wires hanging from the ceiling. (I have a picture) The fire sprinkler in the bathroom was covered with a plastic bag. (I have a picture) My wife took a shower at 4:30 Friday morning and when she was finished, I went to take one and the hot water ran out a minute or so into having the water on! We had to be at the graduation ceremony so early in the morning that I decided I would just deal with the issues when we got back Friday night. So, when we got back Friday night, I went to the front desk to voice my questions and complaints. I walked through the other building to get to the front desk and there was no smell of cigarette smoke present. I told the guy at the front desk about the smell and the rest of the issues. He gave me an excuse about the smoke smell and the burns in the sheets and then asked if they could change them out THE NEXT MORNING! Needless to say, we checked out a day earlier that we planned and went to a...
