SMC Pampanga Express — Restaurant in Waukegan

This is a carry out place though it states dine in. I wouldn't recommend dine in thought there seems to be a table. Even for a carry out this place looks and feels chaotic. Initially I wasn't sure if the building was a restaurant or not. But when I walked up to the counter, that changed. Process is simple and easy. There are a variety of prepared dishes you can pick 1 entree or 2 entree meal. Portion sizes are big. I asked to stop adding more! Very generous and the lady who serves us super sweet. My first time and I was allowed to try the different flavors. So yummy. I decided on the 2 entree - spicy beef and sour soup (pork belly). All very authentic and flavorful. To my daughter's PT thank you for referring me to Pampanga Express on Washington St in Waukegan, ILLINOIS. they were just about to close and i asked if they had anything for my daughter who is in the hospital and got tired of hospital food. Nana behind the counter asked what happened?... after telling Nana what happened, she said "let's nurse her back health". I was so delighted with her thoughtfulness and kind words. On my way back to the hospital I mentioned my experience to my daughter at Pampanga Express... my daughter said, "when I get out and graduate I want to see Nana.

We lived in North Chicago seven years ago while my husband was stationed there. We came back to visit for our 10th wedding anniversary and this was a must on our list of places to eat. AND LET ME TELL YOU! IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! The food here is SO comforting and SO delicious. You can tell everything is made like they would make it for their family; you can FEEL that! If you're ever in North Chicago, Waukegan, or anywhere nearby, you need to visit. It's like coming home. I recommend the lumpia, caldereta, pork or chicken adobo, and ANY of the baked goods!!
