Hyatt Place Sioux Falls – South — Hotel in Wayne Township

If I could give this negative stars, I would. We came to stay with my 95 year old WW2 veteran grandfather. We called ahead to reserve a room with short walking distance of the door. Upon arrival, no reservation was to be found and we were told that nobody ever took that call. They placed us on the fourth floor as far away from the elevator as possible. Our grandfather made it up the elevator and shortly out of the door before he was out of breath. We never actually made it to the room. The front desk was called from the hallway and the woman working offered no help. No other rooms available with 4 cars in the parking lot. There was no wheelchair available or any assistance offered at all. Eventually, my mother found a few of the cleaning ladies in the hallway and asked them if they knew where a wheelchair may be, neither could speak english and couldn't help either. My mother and grandfather made it back down the elevator and to the desk. We asked for a refund and were told only a manager could issue one. We never even made it to the room. She was asked to call her manager. The response given was he had worked a double the day before and he wouldn't answer. Nothing she could do. My mother was understandably irate and said a few choice words. The woman said my mother was verbally abusing her and turned it all around to where she was the victim. We left. No refund, no room, nothing. Fortunately we called the Clubhouse down the road. They made the whole evening better. I'd definitely recommend staying at the ClubHouse with the care and attention we received. They took the time multiple times to apologize for the Hyatt's poor service to our family and cared greatly for one of the few remaining WW2 veterans on this planet. I wouldn't recommend the Hyatt, I wouldn't ever stay there, and I can't say anything positive about the the service you'll receive. We can't say anything about the facility as we never had the opportunity to experience what was paid for.

Update: a year later, some people seem to be fortunate enough to have someone reach out, comp, or refund the rooms. Nothing. Absolute crickets. Horrible...

2nd stay. Got my up-graded water sude view room this time. Still a nice place to stay!! Best breakfast ive had in many years at a hotel!! Staff was still friendly and helpful!

Very nice modern hotel. Super clean, and well taken care of! It's probably the best breakfast and options I've had in a hotel in many years!! Fresh, hot stuff was hot. Cold items were cold. Everything was fresh. They kept items filled and available. My room was very nice!! Huge shower! Nice seating area, and pretty comfortable bed. The towel holder was empty at the pool in the morning, so I had to grab a few towels from the workout room. Pool water was cool but not freezing like most hotels these days. The workout room was clean, with modern equipment. Nice shower in pool area a big restroom in the hall between gym & pool. Didn't get to set out on the deck to enjoy the water. It was raining. Bit it is a nice view and looks to be a well geoomed & clean beach. They even have a few kayaks to use. Rooms are big, too. The staff was all friendly and helpful. I was sold a lake view room, but got a parking lot view. Didn't notice until i had showered. Mentioned it to the desk clerk. She said to let them know next time & they would free upgrade me to a lake view room. I stay in Sioux Fals often, so I will use that upgrade. The 12:00 check out is awesome!! This was my first stay...and definitely not my last!! Fair price, and they give a veteran's discount too. Highly recommend...

The beds are pillow top mattresses, the pillows are squishy, yet supportive. Great for side and back sleepers alike! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions. We had a couple minor errors with our rooms, that hotel staff were glad to hear, and work on fixing, as they are a new hotel. They are doing a pre-order breakfast during the pandemic. It consists of a warm or cold breakfast item. Your choice of 4 different juices, fruit cup, yogurt, or whole apple, and you can select oatmeal if your dietary requirements are more strict. They have hot water and Tazo tea bags right beside their coffee selection during breakfast hours. The bar has a great selection of beers (including local brews), wine, and white claw. As well as a starbucks espresso machine. Looking out over the lake is beautiful and the rooms are styled beautifully. I enjoyed the hard flooring in the room, with a rug, over an entirely carpeted room. Both our rooms had mini fridges in them. Our only downsides were a rug that kept tripping us, a shower door that leaked because the door didn't seal, missing plugs on 1 side of the beds, no bacon with breakfast, and no microwaves. We really enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was the perfect location for us to get between Hartford and southeast...
