As so many others during the COVID19 pandemic, our family had been almost exclusively cooped up since March 2020. We normally take a trip to Vermont around this time of year, but, our usual destination had understandably cancelled their events. We had been looking to find a way to try to make a getaway happen over the Indigenous Peoples' Day long weekend, but, were very committed to going only if we could find a place where we could be as safe as possible, and allowed us to maintain a high level of social distancing (so no hotels or airbnb rooms!). Lucky for us we came across the Seaglass Village Cottage Rentals! The booking process was very easy, communication was prompt and clear, and the logistics for checking in and out worked out smoothly.
The community overall was very pleasant and well maintained. While we didn't interact with anyone else directly or use any of the available common facilities (due to pandemic-related reasons), we got the sense that the residents seem to have a great sense of community (we did get several waves when getting in and out of the property!) - which we appreciated!
The 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath, cottage itself was adorable! It looked impeccably cleaned, tidied and decorated! We found that the furnishings, available gadgets, and layout worked very well for the 3 of us. Over our 3 day-2night stay, we enjoyed the living room immensely! It was great to lounge+relax+recharge, and spend quality time as a family - we loved playing several board games there!
Major aspects offered that decided our selection: the bedding and towels were provided in sealed packaging coming directly from the cleaners. We had the whole cottage to ourselves. The other cottages were located far apart enough that we didn't have to worry about social distancing issues. These were big-ticket, must-haves for us!
A couple of minor hiccups: it was not clear whether the golf cart that was parked at the property was actually available for our use. We didn't have any intention of using it (since as I mentioned, we were not going to use any of the facilities due to COVID), but, we did wonder about it if the circumstances had been different. Also, the address for the property didn't show up properly on google maps (it put us on the right street, but, was quite off from the actual entrance). We found it fairly easily afterward though, but, for a moment there, it was a bit confusing.
Overall, though, our experience was excellent and we were so happy to have found this property, which made our much-needed getaway possible (while still giving us as much peace of mind about COVID exposure!). Coming back to stay there will definitely be at the top of our list whenever we plan another...
Read moreDO NOT RENT! A/C Broke twice causing us to leave early. Golf Cart broke causing us to have to walk almost 2 miles in the dark with no street lights in the development. They gave us 1 Towel per person and No pillowcases. Some lights and plugs in unit did not work. Cell Phone and WiFi very spotty, not good if you have to work remotely a day or two. Cell Phones hardly worked outside of unit. Called twice to have toilet fixed and plugged up sink fixed, but they did not fix it. One of the Sea Glass workers snuck into our side yard and took the golf cart charger… we caught him and he said he’d return it in 2 hours, 3 days later still didn’t return it. Pool was dirty almost every day. Gas Grills are on its last legs. A/C does not exist in the sunroom and this is where the main sitting area is. Trolley does not run in Wells as their website says. Management and Owner was rude and did not care about our issues. Credit Card charged twice but resolved. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY or TIME. For the money they charged, you are better off staying at a hotel in Ogunquit center where you can walk to the beach, is cheaper per night than Sea Glass and where the Trolleys are running. We will never stay at Sea Glass again! With all of the above issues, we were...
Read moreBeware: renters have no actual guarantee that their reservation will be honored. I reserved a cottage in January for the first week of August. In mid-June I received a call stating that the owners of the cottage were cancelling all of their reservations for the summer due to a medical situation, and that Seaglass had no other units large enough available to accommodate our group. This was 7 weeks prior to our scheduled vacation. The lack of compensation and customer service was staggering; there is no onus on the individual owners to follow through with rental agreements and Seaglass offered nothing to remedy it except one unit that was too small for our group. I was then told, “unfortunately, it’s the busiest time of the year.” No kidding, that’s why I booked it six months ago. No offer was made to make it right and find a unit for us elsewhere that was comparable in size and cost other than a suggestion to “call Summer Village down the road”; I was left to scramble and find another option independently. Horrendous way to treat a repeat...
