We had been eating seafood for a couple of days and stopped at this Thai restaurant for a change. Initially, we were a little skeptical but then we asked a local who was regular here and wanted to try it based on her recommendation.
My actual rating is 4/5 but gave it 1 less because they charge extra for any veggies and the staff behavior was disappointing.
Here is the summary of our experience there:
Ambiance 4/5: The place has a Thai-inspired decor and feels like you are transported to the South Asian country. You feel refreshed, especially in this seafood town looking for a change.
Service 2/5: This is where I was deeply disappointed. Our server Shannon was rude and anything we asked for, she made faces and gave us looks. This made our experience subpar. On top of this, they charged us $2 for adding onion and $2 for adding Broccoli
Food 3.5/5: The food was good in taste and the quantity was great. The portion was so big that I even took it home and had it the next day. One caution though, there are not a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. The only one I saw was Rama Garden Noodle so keep your hopes low if you are looking for veg options.
a) Panyang curry was good in taste
Value for Money 4/5: I initially thought the place was on the higher side but looking at the quantity, I feel it is reasonably priced
In summary:
The Good:
Not So good:
I’m incredibly disappointed with my recent visit. My family and I have been coming here for years and have always loved the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the food. We even used to purchase jewelry when it was available—this place truly felt special to us.
Unfortunately, our experience last night was the complete opposite. I came with my partner, our 10-month-old, and our 6-year-old. From the moment we sat down, our server seemed annoyed, as if our presence was an inconvenience. She didn’t even ask what we’d like to drink—just automatically brought water. The energy felt unwelcoming from the start.
When she finally took our order, we asked for two sparkling waters with lime and a Shirley Temple for our daughter. When the drinks arrived, my daughter removed the cherries that came in her glass. That’s when we noticed a slimy substance on the stick. Curious and concerned, we checked—and to our shock, it tasted like SOAP.
We immediately brought it to the attention of the staff, only to be told that the cherries were stored near cleaning supplies. This is completely unacceptable. How many other guests—especially children—may have unknowingly consumed contaminated food? The lack of concern shown by the staff was even more disturbing than the incident itself.
I’m grateful we caught it before my daughter ate one, but this experience has left me unsettled. We will not be returning, and I feel it’s important to share this experience so...
Read moreWe come to Wells every summer. This was our first time trying Mekhong Thai Wells. My husband and I eat Thai food a lot and decided to try this place. We got take out from here and when we called they said we could pick it up in 30 minutes. They were very friendly on the phone. We got it and it was extremely hot & fresh (which we loved!). My husband got the Mango fried rice & I got the Pad see ew. I like my food so spicy that it bites me back. I always ask for the spiciest or "thai spicy" and most places still are not spicy. I was very happy that when I ordered 5 star spicy it actually had a good amount of spice. There was a good amount of chicken & fresh vegetables. I was not a fan of the noodles as they were not authentic and had more of a dough taste. They were too thick which made them mushy. If they changed their noodles this pad see ew would be great. The price was a bit steep for the portion size, dinner price-lunch size portion. The menu prices google provided online did not reflect what we were charged so just ask when you call because they never told us our total...
